I was disappointed by this book; I thought that the blurb sounded super original and thought it was going to be a top-notch thriller, however I was wrong.
To the author's credit at the beginning my attention was immediately captured, and I definitely needed to know more about Angel. I appreciate the social-commentary of sorts surrounding abusive husbands, the effect of
parental domestic abuse on children and such however I found the main character (who I had been rooting for in the beginning) to be quite annoying. I appreciated the nod to situations such as Stockholm syndrome however I felt they spent too much of the book trying to highlight and prove her obsession after 'That Night'. By the end I thought the story had dragged throughout the majority of the book. I also think the author had all the perfect ingredients for a brilliant thriller, but for some reason or another it just did not sit well with me and I did not enjoy reading this book.

5 Stars from me

I loved this book from start to finish, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

I hadn't read the synopsis before reading the book so the whole storyline was a surprise for me which I think made it even more enjoyable.

Nina is a great character, I really liked her and she held my sympathies throughout. I even found myself liking her cliched twat of an ex-husband and I usually hate those cheating b******* on principle so hats off to Cass Green for excellent characterisation all round. Especially so for the one person I hated! No spoilers...

This book takes some wonderful twists and turns and I recommend reading it in one or two sittings so that you can really immerse yourself in this bizarre little tale. As well as racing through the pages, I appreciated the moments of gentle good humour and how cleverly written it was to include such subject depth within a fast paced and gripping tale.

I'm off to look up more books by Cass Green as I simply adored her writing style.

Not what I thought but still an enjoyable read. The book description hinted, to my imagination, at one thing but in actuality the story wasn't what I thought. However, it was excellently written and kept me hooked and page-turning until the end. I would definitely read Cass Green again as the word-skill was fantastic.

Newly single Nina has a disastrous blind date where she nearly chokes to death. Little does she realise that the waitress Angel who saved her life will want a favour in return. A favour that involves a murder and kidnap of a baby.

This novel was gripping and heart wrenching not knowing if the Nina will make it out of the life-threatening situation she is in. I didn’t warm to the character Angel initially; she is cold and calculated. However, the author soon draws on this character and you see the reason she is acting in this way, it is a survival instinct that she has developed from her traumatic childhood.

I really enjoyed reading this book and am grateful for the opportunity that I was given to review this.

This is a very well plotted and fast paced book. I thoroughly enjoyed the use of different chapters with different characters’ points of view. The tension was palpable and exquisitely drawn out. I read this in two sittings as I found I literally didn’t want to put it down.

This book grabbed me straight away and just didn't let go. What a read!! I can't recommend this enough. A real roller coaster of a ride. It's my first book by Cass Green and I'm so thrilled to discover her. I've already downloaded her other books and can't wait to get stuck in.

Wow, wow and triple wow.

This one grabs you right from the start and the action doesn't let up right until the very last page.

Nina finds herself caught up in a night of terror after a waitress who'd served her earlier in the day shows up at her house along with her brother and a kidnapped baby. At first, it seems like a pretty clear cut case of baby snatching, with a side order of murder thrown in, but as the story progresses, it becomes clear that all is not as it seems.

This is one of those books that forces you to keep reading because it's so fast paced. You simply have to know what's coming on the next page! I devoured this in one sitting and it didn't disappoint for one second.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Couldn’t put this down! I’ve loved Cass Green’s previous books and this was no exception. It had me gripped and intrigued as to where the story was going to go, particularly when one of the story arcs appeared to be resolved midway. I wasn’t sure what more could be to come. Would definitely recommend. Thanks to the author, Netgalley and HarperCollins for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

When Nina’s husband leaves her for someone else, she’s encouraged to get out there and meet other people, only she could never have imagined where and what a farcical blind date would lead her to. After an amusing start the tension begins to rise with Nina facing all kinds of ordeals - bet she wished she’d stayed in front of the tv! I was riveted by this book from the start and it didn’t take me very long to rattle through the pages. It had some dark parts with the villain of the piece and there was empathy for the other main characters. I enjoyed the writing and how the story played out.

During a blind date Nina almost chokes to death and is saved by waitress Angel. To Nina's shock and surprise Angel later shows up at Nina's door with a gun in her hand and accompanied by her brother Lucas who is carrying a baby that we soon discover has been kidnapped.
I quite enjoyed this book although at times I found the plot somewhat unlikely. It is however a very decent psychological thriller with a great cast of characters and written in a style that easily holds the attention. I particularly enjoyed the second half of the book when we learned more about the background and motivation of Angel and Lucas.
All in all a decent read and I give it 3 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A chance encounter leads to the scariest of events for Nina, a recent divorcee with a young son. Her treatment at the hands of Angel and Lucas ramp up the tension but as the story unfolds itself you find your allegiances shifting and beliefs changing.
This was an engaging, gripping story which kept my attention from beginning to end and I’d heartily recommend it as a read. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for this copy of 'Don't you Cry' by Cass Green.

Nina night goes from bad to worse. First she has a terrible blind date. Not only is the guy a total loser, but she almost chokes to death. She is saved by the waitress, Angel, aptly named. What she doesn't realize is Angel thinks Nina owes her one, and she comes to collect. It's the beginning of a nightmare for Nina. How bad can this night get? If only she knew.

This isn't a bad read, the characters are interesting and the development of the story keeps you guessing and wanting more. We all like a book that keeps us interested, and this certainly does that. My 3 stars, well, it could be a little slow in places, and I really can't decide on the format. The splitting of the characters, so each chapter is from a particular characters point of view, I'm not entirely convinced this worked. It did in some ways, but I think I would have preferred it from the POV of one character, for example, Angel. Although I must say the author did do a great job of keeping the story fluid, with little overlap. It wasn't confusing, just maybe too much in my personal opinion. I'm possibly biased here as I love Angel, she has so many layers, so many different depths to explore. The story would have had a darker tone to it I feel if it had have been Angel-centric (may not have been a bad thing - darker the better for me).

Overall, I enjoyed it, yes some parts were a little dull, other parts maybe skimmed over too quick, but it's a very good read.

What's great about it, is it's a real life scenario, this could happen. It has happened I'm sure. It's one of those novels that delves into the inner parts of the psyche and examines just how far one is willing to go when pushed. We will never truly understand until we ourselves are in that position.

Don't You Cry by Cass Green has a title which belies this book's great novelty. Nina, a bit of sad figure is catapulted in to a main stream hostage situation. One which (strangely) she never plucks the courage to fully leave. Believe me there were plenty of opportunities. However, knowing a little about her character and station in life, I can quite understand her need to nurture. Underlying the circumstances of Nina's incarceration is a far greater story which plays itself out dramatically. I thought that the police were negligent in not seeing Nina's car near Quinn's house but came good by using the GSM network to detect Nina's phone's ring tone.
I particularly liked the moment when Nina and Zach were free but not for long. It built, then crushed hope within a few short paragraphs.
I am giving this book a high score because I thought it was novel and well written, above all a thrilling read.

This is the first book I have read by Cass Green and I will definitely be checking out more of her work.

It took me a while to get into Don’t You Cry as the first few chapters are a bit slow. However, it soon gets going and I couldn’t put it down. There is a bit in the middle where it slows again but it picks up again for a dramatic ending. It’s told from the POVs of Nina, Angel & Lucas which really added to the story and helps you get to know the siblings and what they are going through. You also feel every stress along with Nina.

I felt this was more of a suspense than a psychological thriller but it is a great suspense story. It kept me guessing throughout the whole book as to how it would end. My feeling towards Angel & Lucas were constantly switching.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm giving it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

When I first downloaded this book I really struggled to get into it - I thought it was a fun chick-lit novel but after getting past the initial scene the book just got better.

A unique storyline whereby the strangers aren’t really all that terrorising but as the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that all is not what it seems. A tangled tale of love and protection resulting in a dead body. Looking after Zach is the only thing that can be done but Lucas is unhinged at best and neither him nor Angel have any parenting skills. Nina finds herself at the centre of a fight or flight situation and needs to assess her options quickly before she finds herself a victim herself but who can she trust?

The characters might not be richly created and I’m sure there may be some elements of the drama that don’t quite sit right but I really enjoyed the book. I’d happily read more of her work and wouldn’t hesitate to lend this to a friend.
