A twisty turny thriller, written from multiple viewpoints. I really enjoyed it. The plot was exciting and the characters were believable and realistic. My allegiences kept changing and, even when I'd realised the truth, I couldn't put the book down until I found out whether they'd catch the culprit. Highly recommend!

I was keen to read this book as I loved "In a Cottage in a Wood" and I enjoyed this just as much. It drew me in from the start and kept my interest throughout. A very easy read and an unusual storyline.

I was gripped by this Novel right from the beginning. The characters were real and relatable and you couldn't help feeling empathy for Angel and Lucas for what they were doing, ( given insights into their past lives) ,even though they went about it in a highly impetuous manner.
In the centre of this mix is Nina, who, luckily, doesn't allow her outrage at events to colour her search for the truth. The ending was satisfactorily concluded and produced, for myself at least, a smile or two after the tensions of a well executed plot.
Thank you Netgalley, the Publishers and Cass Green for this free copy in exchange for an honest review.

A complex and unusual psychological thriller with many a twist.
Rich well drawn characters who make the story. A story which asks us to look beyond the surface.

Chilling, suspenseful and intricate—Mary Kubica once again proves things are not always what they seem with her latest, densely plotted psychological thriller. Don’t You Cry unravels in dual point of view as we seek to figure out what’s happened to Esther Vaughn, a girl who’s inexplicably disappeared.

When her roommate Quinn Collins discovers Esther’s room empty, the window to her fire escape open, she’s not sure if she should panic. Esther was a girl who lived by the book, surely she’d be back soon. But when days tick by and Quinn begins to discover clues that Esther’s life is not entirely as it seemed, the situation escalates and darkens. Worse yet, the more Quinn digs, the more she fears for her own life.

Meanwhile, we also meet Alex Gallo. Intelligent, but forced to give up his bright future to take care of his alcoholic father. He’s been left behind by friends to spend his days working at a crappy, small-town diner. But when Alex sees a mysterious girl, quiet, content to drink coffee and stare off through the window, he becomes entranced. Obsessed even.

Alex’s and Quinn’s points-of-views unwind in alternating chapters. Quinn works to uncover what happened to Esther, while Alex tries to figure out who this enigmatic girl is. The story line begins to converge in all the expected ways, but with her usual prowess, Kubica reveals just how wrong we can be with the narrative’s rousing, heart-pounding climax.

I’m a big fan of Mary Kubica and really enjoyed the overall story, but felt it took more time than usual to fall into pace. The approach to the story’s culmination—and the final moments itself—were my favorite part. I did love the themes explored in the narrative: obsession, malice, doubt, deceit. It had a dark, edgy feel I really enjoyed. Kubica is undeniably an author to follow for suspense and thrill seekers like me.

Nina's day goes from bad to worse, but is there more to her unwelcome guests than she first assumes. A well written book which keeps you reading until the end.

This book is a total guilty pleasure. The kind of book that you can't believe as much as you can't put down. The entire time I scrawled my screen more and more down I heard a scream in my head. THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE...but then could it? What if it did?

I read it in one sitting while I should've been doing something completely different. Like I said, a guilty pleasure.

It's so crazy the word crazy doesn't even begin describing how crazy the plot feels. My jaw hurt from clenching with all sorts of emotions while reading this. Cass Green has an amazing imagination, and a very good skill to put it in words that make it plausible and even intriguing.

Nina goes on a date after her husband leaves her for a younger woman. It’s a disaster right from the start the only bit of it that was any good was the young waitress who saved her life when she choked on an olive. Very grateful to her she gave her a large tip and went home in the taxi the waitress ordered for her. That turned out to be a big mistake as during the night the waitress her brother and a young baby turned up at Nina’s house and nothing would be the same again. A great read with all the characters having their own chapters making it easy to follow all the twists and turns along the way.

What a fantastic read. A story that was so emotional with suspense all the way. The last few chapters were really gripping and I could not stop reading. This was my first book by Cass Green and she is certainly at the top of my list for great authors. I loved Nina and the way that she coped with the terrible situation that she was in. All the characters were so well described that they were real. I felt sorry for Lucas and Angel as their story unfolded. Great twists at the end.

This book takes a bit of believing. The kidnapped main character had opportunities to escape which she didn't take for weak reasons. It is evident from early on who is not responsible for the murder and who must be. That removes any excitement. It us all a bit bizarre and unlikely.

I’m still on the picket fence with this one but I’m going to give it a 3.6 star. It’s not low enough to just put a 3 because the second of the book was really good. The ending let it down over all. It felt rushed and I was confused when it jumped forward without it saying at the beginning of that particular chapter about how much time passed. It was quite disconcerting.

The first half... well, it took me a while to get into it and again I felt it a little rushed and it pretty much jumped straight into the drama of things but then the pace evened out and I found myself enjoying all the goings on.

The characters were all pretty complex, except Nina, who is the epitome of a motherly woman. Angel was definitely misunderstood and I feel that Lucas had underlining issues that were never quite addressed but they were certainly interesting in their own right. Nick Quinn was what any woman would picture as a controlling man. He was tall, imposing and he was also a public figure... that pretty much says it all these days, doesn’t it?

Other than it being quite rushed at the beginning and end, I did really enjoy the story. It was fascinating and extremely intense. Easy to guess and more just a story then what I first believed was going to be a psychological thriller. But it’s not. More of a mystery/suspense.

The author’s writing style is great, it really does draw the reader in with all its descriptiveness etc.

Great story from a new author to me. Bravo.

Don’t You Cry was an absolutely fantastic read: a real rollercoaster, with much of the action taking place over one terrifying night. When recently divorced Nina’s life is saved - literally - by a waitress while on a disastrous blind date, she’s beside herself with gratitude but never expects to see the aptly named Angel again.

She certainly doesn’t expect Angel to turn up at her home that night, shortly followed by Angel’s bedraggled younger brother, alarmingly clutching a very young baby.

What transpires over the course of the night makes for edge-of-the-seat reading. But the story doesn’t end there...

I loved this book, a brilliantly structured read which gets everything right, keeping the tension going throughout.

I don't usually read psychological thrillers, but that being said this was fairly gentle with a happy ending. An entertaining and gripping read about an everyday Mum and recently separated wife, caught up in the troubled lives of two siblings who have been dealt a hard hand in life as a result of a conniving and aggressive Stepfather. The ending was a little too conveniently "wrapped up", but as I said it was at least a just and "happy" ending.

I really liked this book but I did not love it. The story started well but it lost its momentum about three quarters of the way through but bu that point I felt I may as well finish it. It’s good but not great

Did not love it. Started off ok and then got very good but then quickly went downhill again and it was a slog to finish. Did not like any of the characters and thought there was no real mystery or suspense to the story.

An unusual psychological thriller. I was interested in the plot from the beginning. Although an original story line I did not connect with the characters and found the whole thing a bit too fanciful. Especially with the events and actions of the characters after the main event finished.

This is a great psychological thriller with plenty to keep you gripped throughout.

It all starts with Nina going on a blind date, after her husband has found himself a younger model. Whilst on the date she finds herself choking on an olive and her waitress, Angel, saves her life. Later that night, whilst at home, Nina finds Angel on her doorstep and she barges her way in to Nina’s home. Not long after Angel’s brother arrives, hands covered in blood and a kidnapped baby in his arms. What follows is a tense night for all involved. Is everything quite as it seems ?

The plot and characters are absolutely brilliant and really well thought out and put together. You will find yourself totally engrossed and longing to find out what happens in the end. A really compelling psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested.

After reading the blurb and starting the book I did wonder how the initial story could be eked out for a full length novel! Things do however take an interesting turn that I found both enjoyable and intriguing. Easy to read with a story line that flows and keeps you reading way past sleep time. I connected with the characters and really cared what happened to them, especially baby Zach! (Feed him first Nina!) I liked the ending and thought everything was wrapped up pretty well. Recommended. My thanks to HarperCollins and Net Galley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I can't recall what drew me to this book or why on a whim this was my next read, i think i was just after something gripping on my desperate hunt for the best ever thriller. This was a very deep dark and twisty thriller that is a bit all over the place, but that is not a bad thing, not at all.

When Nina heads out on a blind date that she wasn't all that bothered about attending in the first place, things seem to go from bad to worse when she chokes and her life flashes before her eyes, not like oh i was choking but a serious, actually cannot breathe choking and as her date sits there, the waitress - Angel saves her life.

With an already bad evening, Nina is so ready to get home and put the date to the back of her mind. So when the door goes later that evening and its Angel, Nina is completely shocked - even more so when she points a gun at her.

When Angel claims she needs space and a while later her brother rocks up covered in blood and a very very newborn baby Nina is the most scared, panicked and stressed she has ever been. She is about to endure the longest night of her life.

Don't you Cry is a wonderful read that really is a unique narrative. I had so many questions from the start, why, who and what the heck?! I felt for Nina throughout the story, the battles she was facing both internally and externally - like how on earth would you even begin to process this experience?

Angel and her brother Lucas were hard to get to know to start with, they have put a poor innocent woman in the middle of a life changing experience without so much as a real thought to her and that bothered me a lot. However, i can't say i warmed to them but i felt like we got to see what on earth was going through their minds, what had led to this moment.

I was worried i wouldnt get the full answers i was seeking. I did though and for that i was grateful. It was a bizarre read and i remember thinking at the time - is this for real, but then i ended up so very invested in it. So it was totally worth the read, time and effort!
