I guess I liked the idea of the book, but the execution wasn't something I enjoy reading all that much. Basically...it was okay.

I didn't like insta-romance here. I didn't like the character of Locke. It was pretty hard for me to follow the plot.

I did like most of the characters though, and the writing is good. I really enjoyed the setting - the villain's son in a superhero training and everything that came with it. It just wasn't enough for me. It was hard to get through this book, I was very close to DNFing it so many times. Also it's more like tell-don't-show and this was upsetting, I don't really like being spoonfed.

So, I am very torn about this one, that's why I gave it neutral - 2 out of 5 rating. (would give 2.5 but nobody cares about half stars). It just could've been better!

I love superheroes. I love to read m/m books. The synopsis intrigued me. It sounded a little like SuperHero High, except summer camp. But that's the thing, how can you learn to be a superhero over the course of 1 summer. This book might have been better if it was a series of books following the characters through high school or college. There would be better character and story development. The characters are mostly teenagers and they show their immaturity. There's a lot off book sex going on with multiple partners as well as the on book main couple sex scenes. I couldn't care enough about any of the characters. They were too whinny, immature, self-absorbed and superficial for me to get attached to anyone.

I enjoyed the idea of this story. The characters and their powers were interesting but the group (18 to 21 yr olds) as a whole were having sex all over the place and swapping partners. The two MCs get together early on and though they have a rocky ride neither hooks up with anyone else. Locke annoyed me because of the way he treated Vince but he redeemed himself eventually.
My main disappointment was with the end. I thought it was rushed, I didn't understand the villain's reason for their actions, nor did I think the issue with Mister Mister was completely explained.

As much as I tried to get into this book, I just couldn't. Between the unappealing writing, the weird bullying of their one cabin mate who doesn't want to get involved in their ridiculous and frankly stupid rule-breaking and said rule-breaking, I couldn't get far into the book. After around 10%, I had to give up because frankly, there's so many books to read, I can't waste my time on something I clearly won't like.

This one unfortunately didnt work for me. The plot and characters were nice but felt like they were lacking. I normally love superheros but this one just fell flat for me

Superhero training camp, where heroes are made or in Vince's case, where the son of a supervillain hopes to escape the sins of his father. The camp reminds me of combination of Hogwarts and Camp Halfblood. It was a very enjoyable read with likable characters and an engaging storyline.

I hate to review things negatively, but I just could not finish this book. I bailed at about 25%, after trying desperately to read more, but I just could not deal with the style of writing. Given the summary, I knew that this book would be a little silly, but I thought that it might be a fun, lighthearted, but enjoyable book. But when I got into it, it all was so far-fetched that I wasn't able to get into it. On top of that, everything seemed so straightfoward-a lot of telling and no showing. And it was all just so over-the-top to the point of being comical. The characters have names like Locke, Ariel, BJ, and Mister Mister. The boys at Camp Hologram are almost all LGBT because "for some reason, superpowers tend to manifest in non-hetero people." The main characters get to camp, fall in insta-lust, start making flirtatious and overtly sexual comments immediately, and rather than that being kinda uncomfortable, they almost have a threesome. It feels to me like mediocre fanfic where the point is to get as much mileage out of a m/m romance without actually developing the characters, relationship, or plot, and it reads like it was obviously written by women who I'm not sure have ever spoken to an actual gay man.

That's not to say that this book doesn't have a market of people who would enjoy it. I'm sure some people would, but as someone who really enjoys plot and good character/relationship development over time (not jumping into a threesome and "turning into a new addiction" after the first meeting), I couldn't get into this book. That's also not to say that it is irredeemable or without potential, but I think in order to make this an interesting and well-developed book rather than a self-indulgent and improbable m/m romp, it would need a complete style overhaul and a lot of editing.

It was....okay? I didn't hate it but I didn't love it, either. The romance moved waaay too quickly; I don't need all of my romances to be agonizingly slow burns, but this was like 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. I liked the concept of the book, and the cast of characters, but I think it could use a little more fleshing out to make it better.

I'm really torn about this book.

The Power of Love is a novel about two superheroes in training who fall in love at camp. The only problem is that Vince's dad is a supervillain. Plot wise it sounds like it could be so good but there were parts that were dull.

-The romance was too quick
-Teenage drama even though they're grown ass men
-How quickly the final battle thing seemed to end

Overall

There were bits of this book I really liked and other bits I hated. Romance wise I wanted something a little more slowburn. But there was a great cast of characters and I'll be honest and say I kinda wanna read more of this world.
