What a brilliant book! Not only is it an encyclopaedia of herbs and their uses but it also gives recipes for teas, salves, tinctures, vinegars, decoctions etc. It explains the easiest ways to collect and dry herbs and finishes with a recipe for a fly agaric tincture for sciatica - this happens to be deadly if swallowed but brilliant for numbing nerve pain.. sounds a little too ambitious/ terrifying for me, I’ll stick to the easier projects such as exploring the many uses for nettles, whipping up a calendula salve, making hot black currant juice and a dandelion tea. The kids will enjoy making dandelion tattoos and I definitely want to make raspberry vinegar, rose hip purée and mullein ear oil.
