I really, really enjoyed this story!!

It may well be a children’s book and I am not the intended target audience but I honestly loved it! I am a massive fan of books featuring cute animals and this was definitely one of them!!

The plot was great, I flew through the pages and it had me smiling and giggling – I wish my hamsters had been like that when I was younger!!

Five stars for this one, no hesitation – a brilliant story!!

In this book we meet Ben whom wants an exciting pet only to get a hamster, not so thrilling to him. Calling his hamster Stinkybottom, which his hamster doesn't like much!

That is until his hamster starts answering when he speaks his maths sums out loud! His hamster starts doing his homework and suddenly he is accused of cheating at school.

Facing a maths test thanks to his dad making a bet with his maths teacher, he needs to figure out a way to either get smart quick or sneak in his hamster!

This is a hilarious short tale and extremely fun drawings to help annotate the story throughout. Kids will love this book and be imagining or dreaming that their pets could be doing crazy amazing things too!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Ben Jinks's Mum buys him a pet as a punishment - to teach him to be responsible. To Ben's surprise, his hamster can talk, and is an expert at maths (he can multiply and divide). This makes Ben's homework much easier, but leads to complications when Ben's dad decides to make a bet that his son is doing his homework without help. After an unsuccessful attempt to smuggle the hamster into the next exam, Ben and his hamster decide that it would be far better if Stinky actually taught Ben maths.
This was an ok read, but there were lots of niggles with it. The ingredients were more than the whole: at the start of the story, Dad's gambling sounded as if it would be more of an issue than simply leading him to make a silly bet with a class teacher; and if I had a genius talking hamster I'd hope for more excitement than learning to keep up with the rest of the class in maths. The story needed more than using hamster poo to count with to make it funny.
I take issue with the idea of a parent buying a child a pet as a punishment.

This is a really cute story about Ben and his hamster Stinky. Ben is 9 years old and wants a pet, with a long list. However, her mother wants him to prove that he's responsible. She gets him a hamster, but this is no ordinary hamster. Soon, Ben discovers he can talk, and actually can do math better than Ben :)

I really liked the messages in this book for a kid that are given in a very cute story. I even enjoyed it as an adult. Ben and hamster are both adorable characters. The books has illustrations that I like spread in the story.
I would definitely recommend this fun book for a kid.
