I really enjoyed this book, I thought it was very original and different to anything I have read recently.I liked the main character and her work mate, and wondered if there was more to her story, and there was.not giving anything away but I think this is well worth a read ,I stayed up way too late to finish it,and thoroughly enjoyed it.There were a few surprises along the way and the story kept me entertained. Thanks to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC.

Her Watchful Eye was immediately absorbing, beautifully written with memorable characters and some very emotional moments.

Ruby is a damaged soul, her work as a CCTV operator allows her to keep an eye on Hannah- but why does she want to and what will happen if Ruby goes further…

There are some great themes here that the author explores extraordinarily well, both Ruby and Hannah are highly engaging. The true nature of their relationship comes to light over the course of the story and as it does it is ever more intriguing. This is a story about life choices and consequences, how we seek to resolve our past to secure our future, it is often thought provoking.

There is a lovely underlying mystery element, it is more one of character than anything else – you will want to keep reading to find out what happens to these two and those who are drawn into their vortex.

Overall I thought this was fantastic. I’ve loved Julie Corbin’ s other novels and this one might be my favourite so far.

Recommended.

I'm a huge fan of Julie Corbin and always look forward to her new books. Having lived in Edinburgh myself, it's the settings that attract me and Her Watchful Eye is a love letter to the streets, nooks and crannies of this majestic Scottish city.
The storyline itself probably isn't my favourite of hers and I wasn't as gripped as I had been expecting but it was still a beautifully constructed and written book.

Excellent read from Julie Corbin. I was absolutely riveted by this book, it kept me awake at night as I had to finish it. Fantastic well written characters and plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up until the end.

Chilling and suspenseful, I recommend this book to psychological thriller fans and anyone who fancies a dark, gripping read. Definitely not one to miss out on!

Her Watchful Eye is yet again a good psychological thriller from Julie Corbin, based around Ruby who is a CCTV operative who one night spots Hannah leaving her work at a restaurant and soon recognises her as her daughter who she gave up for adoption years ago.Ruby starts to watch Hannah's every move which is against the law but she just can't help herself and as her obsession increases Ruby's life starts to get even more complicated.Throw her ex husband Grant into the mix also and what we get is a good thriller which just for me dragged on a little longer than was needed but is still a great 4 star read from Julie Corbin.

This book is spellbinding. Had me gripped early on, I had to know what happened. Ruby appears fragile and complex but so remarkably strong. Her pain in losing her daughter never leaves her and her anguish dictates her life and her relationships. This story takes you through love, hatred and revenge and despair without letting you up for air. Loved it.
Thank you for an advanced Netgally copy in return for an honest review.

I have read all of Julie Corbin’s previous novels and find her to be an amazingly exciting writer and this was another great read.

Ruby is ex-police and now works for a CCTV business, which monitors the streets of Edinburgh. The story of how and why Ruby is now in this position and the consequences of how and why she behaves the way she does is uncovered gradually. I warmed to Ruby’s character but some of her behaviours surprised me.

We are drip-fed snippets into her life and all the reasons she is where she is now. As she monitors the streets she recognises ‘Hannah’ and she justifies why it is acceptable to watch her although we learnt at the beginning of the novel that it is not. This is where the story explodes.

The secrets creep out and the lies take over.

Thank you to NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton, Mulholland Books and Julie Corbin for my ARC in return for my honest review.

Excellent, highly recommended.

This book has engaging characters, a beautiful city setting and the author has a lovely, easy writing style. I was gripped from the first page. There are so many clever twists and turns which kept me engrossed on a train journey. I had taken work to do but couldn’t put the book down! Ruby, a former police officer, works in CCTV surveillance and I found the descriptions of her job fascinating. I really liked her colleague Lennie and the descriptions of his chaotic family life and westie pups! There was so much to like about this book and I will definitely be recommending it to friends.

I have read and reviewed previous Julie Corbin novels so I knew I enjoyed the authors writing style but you never know 100% if the new book will live up to the high bar already set ( and in fact with 3 recent books/ authorsthis didn’t happen but thats other books, not this one!!) Soooooo after all that what Im saying is this book is great and lived up to my expectations
The book is set around Ruby an ex policewoman who now works in the Edinburgh CCTV suite, the insight into that work was fascinating and capable of a novel in itself, however there is a big backstory re Ruby and what has brought her to this job....then she sees someone on the CCTV she is monitoring that she hasn’t seen for 5 years......and then her life ‘implodes’ because of this and what happens next and throughout the book is a consequence of this.........lies, secrets, murder, stalking, lies, violence, intrigue, fascinating characters, lies and moments of ‘NOOOOOO’ as you realise the author and the story has wrong footed you AGAIN and yet more mystery is unfolding
A fascinating read that kept my attention, it requires your input as is not a throwaway 5 mins here and there book, it makes you think and question things and if you are affected or have been affected by any aspect of the book, as personally I was, it makes you question what is happening and why and how you would react.......
10/10 5 stars

I've read all this author's books and this latest one doesn't disappoint. Ruby is a CCTV control operator in a town in Scotland and is strictly bound by law that she cannot use what she sees for personal benefit. When she sees a young girl one day who she immediately recognises, she decides to ignore the law and find out more about the girl's life and follow her.
Without giving too much away there is a lot more to Ruby than first thought and the book is full of twists.
Highly recommended.
