Fantastic finish to the trilogy! I love the Gods aspect to this one a lot more than in did in the previous two book. I can't wait to read more from this author.

A book that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. This book was one of my favourites as the story was always twisting so I never quite knew where it was going to take me next.

Unfortunately I have been unable to read the first two books and did not realise when requesting that this was. series.

Apologies for the very late review, I thought I had posted my review but it is only upon checking my netgalley account that I realised it never sent.

I read Nightblood in one sitting and didn't want the series to end. Unusually for the last in a series, I found myself loving this installment even more than the previous 2!

3.5 stars. I really hoped to give this more stars and had such high expectations after the last one, but oh my God, this literally took me months to read and it wasn't until I was past the halfway point that it became more readable for me.

Some of the dialogue was disappointing and not funny when it was trying to be funny. Yeah, it was trying too hard a little. And one of the more obvious problems I've pinpointed was Arcus - and his jealousy and rage. I couldn't stand it. He was what brought it down I think. But anyway, other than that I still enjoyed the overall plot, and I'll be waiting for what Elly has in store for us next.

An explosive and satisfying end to a unique and well written trilogy. I enjoyed the character growth of Ruby and Arcus, the differences in them were well developed and realistic. The conclusion was clever and allowed for redemption for some long gone characters.

I look forward to more from Elly Blake.

Thanks to Netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton for giving me this book to review.

Nightblood is the good final book in the Frostblood saga. It has good pacing and I felt it had more world building than the previous books especially as the gods and goddesses feature even more in this book. However, I felt there should be have been a little less romance drama and more story drama.

I was not a fan of Ruby in this book, I know she was not in complete control of her actions but she never helped herself and seemed to be enjoying causing the drama rather than talking to people and trying to mitigate it. Arcus is still serious and feels responsible for everyone but he did come across as very possessive and I can see why people are not a fan of him. I had the opposite problem with Kai, he was too cocky and blasé when they were trying to save the world and too interested in Ruby romantically when everyone should really be focusing on the main issues.

While I did have problems with all of the drama in this book, I still enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading what Blake writes next. I would recommend Nightblood to fans of the first two books in the Frostblood Saga.

I have been so excited to read this book that I actually devoured it in a few hours. Nightblood was actually as predicted and tied up all the loose ends that I had with the story.

But it had a couple of tropes typical of ya - an awkward love triangle, an entitled chosen one - however I was still entertained by this fast-paced tale. There was a consistent story that pulled all the threads of the previous books together and wove a compelling, entertaining, action packed story.

So this was the final book in the series, yet when I was reading this it felt like the middle of the series. And the ending was such a rush. I felt like the ending was just given to us on a platter because that was what was expected. A lot of the story telling was talking up with romantic tryst and arguing over who was better. And I did spend a lot of the book wishing that they would get on with it. After all with the world ending there is not much time to spare.

But despite my moans above this was a cracking book. And no matter what I loved it. There is a darker tone to this story as Ruby struggles to contain the Minax and feed off its dark thoughts. It means there is a few moments where everything could fall apart and the world could end in a blink of an eye.

This was a entertaining finale and means that i can now read the series one after the other. So time to kick back and binge read.

I loved this series. I read the entire trilogy in less than a week and I was completely hooked in Ruby's story. The battle between firebloods and frostbloods, the love and friendship between them, and also their alliance in the was agains the god Eurus and his Minax. Nightblood is my favourite of the three books, not only because we get more scenes between Ruby and her beloved Arcus, but also because most of the characters are now familiar and better developed.

The story is full of surprises and twists (there was one in particular, towards the end, that almost made me threw my kindle against the wall!) and the suspense kept me on edge the entire time.

Thanks to the author's attention to details, I could almost imagine the setting, the scenes as they played out, and the conversation.

The Frostblood saga is a must read for all fantasy readers and I am really looking forward to whatever Elly Blake is writing next.

I received with thanks an ARC copy of Nightblood from Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley.

This is my true and honest review of Nightblood (Frostblood #3). This was published on 21st August 2018

This is the stunning conclusion to the Frostblood saga by Elly Blake. This was everything I could ever want from a finale. This was action packed and full of adventure. I adore the authors writing style, which keeps me hooked from start to finish. I love the ending and the romance.

Would recommend if you love a good YA fantasy.

This was a fantastic conclusion to this series. I felt that All the loose ends that we had during the last two books were tied up nicely and issues were dealt with perfectly. I really enjoyed the world building in this book. I feel that its very descriptive even though not many new places were introduced. I loved how elly blake came up with all the different gods and goddesses. The characters in this book are to die for. I loved Ruby as our main character and i love that the book is in her point of view. She such a fire cracker and wont harm to put you in your place. I loved how strong she is to hold off the minax as much as she could. I love how arcus is so protective of ruby even though she fights back. You can really see the loved he has for her during the book. I like how the friendship between Kai and Ruby blossomed even though at the end of the book it fazzled out a bit.

Firstly, I’d like to thank the publishers for sending me a copy. I already had one, but tah anyway!

Holy s**t, this was good. It’s bittersweet, beause one of my favourite series has now ended. But heyho - it’s one I will reread. I’m going to write a really short review as final books in series can be spoiler-heavy, and honestly, if you’ve read the other two, you’re going to keep going at this point. So I'll wrap up the series as a whole: overall it's fabulous. There are some tropes - a chosen one, a love triangle - but they’re addictive (these books always seem to be). Honestly? I will continue reading them to the day I die. This trilogy was one of the best.

This book, unlike so many that have come before it in its genre, wasn’t predictable, which so many third books seem to fall into - but thankfully, this isn't like that. It was unique, it was fun, and I will recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.

This is the third book in the trilogy, so if you haven’t yet read the first two books then I suggest you make a start! This has been my favourite from the trilogy and certainly finished the series on a high. It picks up straight from where it left off in the last book, as Ruby, Arcus, and Kai head off to try to find a way to stop Eurus.

I think I might have mentioned in my review of one of the previous books that the relationship slightly overshadowed everything else and it was a romance with fantasy, rather than a fantasy with romance. Of course, not to the point of risking one of my tirades about romance disguised as fantasy, otherwise I highly doubt I would’ve bothered with this final book! This book I felt that the romance was less of an issue and what was there contributed more to the story rather than just romance for the sake of romance.

Beyond the lovey dovey relationship, the relationships between the characters was again, great. The chemistry and the interactions were well written and I found myself truly immersed in their story, a stray tear or two finding it’s way out every now and then, and a smile or laugh during some of the funnier moments between characters. They’ve definitely grown on me as the books have progressed, I am sad that I’ll not be encountering them again.

For the most part Nightblood is very fast-paced. It slowed down every now and then, for those ‘lovey dovey’ moments I mentioned previously, but mostly it was a wild ride and I finished this book in no time. The last third of the book in particular kept me gripped and I couldn’t put it down. My heart was in my mouth and it stayed there for several chapters. And the final chapter, I can’t say much without risking spoilers but it was absolutely the perfect ending.

Overall I definitely recommend this book. If you’re a fan of fantasy and have read a lot of it, there’s probably not too much in this book that you won’t have come across before, but it’s still a very enjoyable read, and this final book actually had a lot more surprises and originality in it than the previous books. If you’re new to YA fantasy then I have no doubt you'll absolutely love this.

3.5 stars

NIGHTBLOOD was a satisfying end to what has been a great series overall. There was plenty of dramatic action, a consistent plot tethering the previous books with some new aspects added in. The crop of characters in this series have become beloved companions: Arcus, Ruby, Kai, Brother Thistle to name a few. It is these characters that make this series memorable.

Ruby took me on an up and down journey in this book, sometimes I was frustrated with her, but I had to keep reminding myself, this could be Minax-related or this could be her being flippy-floppy. She won me over in the end. The triangular-shaped parts were easier to deal with in this final book because there was clarity about where the feelings lay. Arcus is a bit of an all-round, cannot-do-any-wrong guy to me and my love remained strong for this man.

I don't know why I didn't have the same connection with book three as I did with the other two but whilst I was interested, I wasn't gripped. I think it was storyline-orientated because as I have said, the character draw was strong.

I look forward to what else Elly Blake can write, because she has shown such talent with series and I am excited to see more from her.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

Oh my God!! Elly has done such a fantastic job with this series. She is seriously a talented author who could give the likes of Sarah J. Maas and Victoria Aveyard, a run for their money.
The Frostblood Saga has been one of my favourite series and it was a bittersweet moment, saying goodbye these characters and their story.

Night blood picked up where Fireblood left us and was everything I hoped it would be. I couldn't put it down once I started, as Elly Blake quickly pulled me back into the world of Frostbloods and Fire bloods. This book is possibly my favourite of the saga by far. it was fast paced and gripping as there was so much action that there was always something new happening at every turn that I just didn't want to put it down, turning the pages again and again to find out what would happen next.

Arcus and Ruby have their ups and downs but Elly Blake has given them the happy ending they deserve after all of their trials and tribulations and now I am suffering the effects of a massive book hangover. If you have read and enjoyed the previous books in this saga, you don't want to miss NightBlood.

I am incredibly pleased to say that this book surprised me. I started it thinking I was going to get a generic YA fantasy trilogy finale and it was actually a really lovely read. It does still have that trope-ness that made the first two books annoying/wonderful depending on your personal preferences, but the writing itself felt more mature, for the most part, the characters felt better conceived and the plot had some unexpected and very clever moments in amongst everything that you would expect had you read the first two.

The one thing that really bothered me in this was the way it seemed to allow jealous behaviour, it didn't so much encourage it, but neither was it totally condemned. I don't think it was the worst example of jealousy I've seen but it did very much put me off the particular character, which made warming to the rest of the plot somewhat more challenging.

The plot and the characters are still fairly generic as far as YA goes, but I think that's going to be something people have to decide on an individual basis whether it bothers them or not. Personally, I don't mind a book that's predictable and easy to read, I find them really useful for when you end up in a reading slump, just to kick me out of that mindset.

I don't have a huge amount to say about this book, largely because many of the interesting things to talk about would probably count as spoilers and I don't want to risk it. Put simply, this was a fun way to end a series that I didn't expect to be particularly amazing. I'm not sure I'd be rushing out to re-read all three books, but I might just re-read this one if the timing was right.

My rating: 3/5 stars

I received a digital advanced review copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley, Elly Blake and Hodder and Stoughton for my arc of Nightblood.
The Frostblood saga was one of my favourite reads last year so I was super excited to receive this copy of Nightblood and to catch up on what was happening with Ruby, Arcus and Kai.
Please note that while there will be no spoilers for Nightblood there will be small spoilers for Frostblood and Fireblood where necessary for the purpose of this review.
Nightblood picks up where Fireblood left off. Arcus and Ruby have been reunited and now have Prince Kai in tow as they travel back to Arcus' kingdom to see Brother Thistle and right the wrongs of the trickster god.

But the Minax is still inside Ruby's heart and she's finding it harder to control, harder to surpress. Especially when it feeds off her anger, worry and quite often these days... desire. With Arcus feeling jealous of her friendship with Kai how can she get close enough to show him how she feels without releasing the Minax?

Imentioned in my review of Fireblood which you can read here: https://lifehasafunnywayofsneakinguponyou.wordpress.com/2017/07/31/fireblood-by-elly-blake-review/ that the story had become much more fast paced than in Frostblood (review here: https://lifehasafunnywayofsneakinguponyou.wordpress.com/2017/07/24/frostblood-by-elly-blake-review/ ) but it's got even faster with Nightblood the story raced along to the point that I couldn't put it down. I'm also pleased to say that Elly Blake is an author who makes sure all your questions have been answered by the end!

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves ya fantasy involving magic, superpowers, vengeful and interfering deity's and a good dose of romance.

The Frostblood series is proof positive that you can take rather hackneyed and somewhat despised YA tropes and spin them into something fresh and engaging. This series was just so entertaining to read – actually a nice break from the more literary YA fantasy that has been emerging. I like both but sometimes what I really want is good adventure hero arc and this series provides it. Not that it’s devoid of theme because it deals with some important issues and presents a female lead with plenty of agency in a very satisfyingly concluded struggle. This is a series I will reread and I don’t say that lightly. Highly enjoyable and a fitting conclusion to the series.

Wow what an ending to this wonderful trilogy.
I was in a reading slump when i started this book but this book definitely helped pull me through. Its exciting, engrossing and very well written so i was able to fully immerse myself in this fantasy land.
The story was wrapped up nicely and didn't have any of those "conveniently resolved" issues that always make me roll my eyes.

Very good finale!

This book wraps up the Frostblood saga and actually does it in style. This finale puts Ruby through the mill but as she discovers a strength that’s pretty staggering I’m guessing that fans of this series will be hollering with delight. This author did bring a triangle into these books with Ruby torn between the Frost King and the Prince of the Fire throne ( who is technically her betrothed) so I’m not sure if the outcome will please all as let’s face it everyone usually picks who they think the heroine should end up with. I will state that I agree with Ruby’s choice although at times I did get Twilight flashbacks as even though Ruby is fully onboard to go ahem that step further the object of her affection kept backing off.
Ok so it’s time for Ruby to finally discover where the seat of the Minax powers come from and unfortunately in this world you just never quite know what the Gods have planned. I actually wasn’t that impressed by the Gods and thought they were childish, insensitive and very difficult for this reader to like. That being said this was very entertaining no matter how irritated I got at times as the characters seemed to get sidetracked. This series is definitely worth reading if you enjoy young fantasy but I must warn you that the heroine Ruby never has it easy.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
