With the Mamma Mia sequel being released this summer this made the perfect holiday read for me. I loved the original film and am an Abba fan. This made the book a lovely, warm read- making you picture the amazing setting and joining Laurel on her amazing trip. They must have had a real upsurge in bookings since the film and it's easy to imagine why. I just loved everything about this book- it left me with the same cosy feeling as the film does and I can imagine picking it up to reread when I need to feel a bit of summer magic in the coming months.

My Mamna Mia Summer is written by Annie Robertson and published by Orion Publishing Group. It is a feel good, lighthearted summertime read. Laurel, who hasn't taken a risk in her whole life consults her Abba albums and her favourite film of all time - Mamma Mia and suddenly takes a chance and books a holiday in Greece, Skopelos to be exact at the charmingly run down Villa Athena. She always planned to go with her beloved Gran, Marnie, with her as she was also an avid Mamma Mia fan, so she goes in her memory. Befriending the Villa's eccentric owner Laurel visits Greece's famous sites. Will she be the same staid, risk averse individual when she returns to London or as she feels more at home in Greece will she stay there?

I enjoyed Mamma Mia and the scenery etc so I felt that the descriptive scenes were well done, I. Oils imagine I had seen them in real life or was right beside Laurel taking in the sights. There are copious references to Mamma Mia, but even if you haven't seen the film, or seen it and hated it it still makes a great easy, happy, carefree beach (if only) read.

I received this book via Netgalley and Orion Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review.

As a massive fan of Mamma Mia (the show and the film), in addition to a lover of fiction where there is a Greek Holiday, I was instantly drawn to this summery looking book.

Within the first few pages of the book, I knew I had made the right decision. I was drawn into the story practically from the first few pages, and loved every moment of the book since. It is in fact a shame it had to end.

Laurel and her grandmother Marnie, had always intended to visit Skopelos where Mamma Mia was filmed, but they kept putting it off until it was no longer possible, so when Laurel is forced to take holiday leave from work she decides to go to honour Marnie's memory.

From the moment she steps onto the plane, we are treated to a whole host of wonderful characters, fabulous scenery more references to Mamma Mia than perhaps is health to put into a book, but all the more enjoyable for their presence.

If anything I would say if you haven't seen the film some of the references and parallels that are drawn may go completely over your head, but for those that have, you will love every second of this as, I did.

Laurel soon makes a host of new friends, and Athena at the Villa Athena is a marvellous character, the scenery on the island is spectacular, and as you would expect there is plenty of great food too.

This is a perfect summer read, or a pick me up in winter when you are longing for sunnier weather. Full of humour and emotion too, this is just an all around fabulous fun book to read.

This is the first book I have read by Annie Robertson, and it certainly won't be the last.

Make your mind up, and spend some Money, Money, Money, on this book that will have you thanking Abba for the Music, while you spend time with Annie the Dancing Queen, and find out if Laurel really does have a dream!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Orion for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Was never quite sure where this was heading, and once I’d finished it, wasn’t sure if I’d wanted it to go where it did. Overall okay.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. This was a very enjoyable, happy feeling, light-hearted story set on the 'Mamma Mia' island of Skopelos. This made me smile and think of sunny days

Thank you so much to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book. I had been experiencing a bit of a slump in reading until I picked up this book.

One summer... One dream...
One chance to make it happen.

Laurel hasn't taken a risk her whole life. Now as summer dawns, she's going to do something that nobody expects of her. Laurel turns to her ABBA albums and her favourite film, Mamma Mia! She grabs her passport, dons her dungarees, and jets off to Skopelos for her own Meryl-inspired adventure...

Laurel books into the faded but charming Villa Athena and befriends its eccentric owner. As she explores the island's famous sights, Laurel finds herself feeling strangely at home. So should she return to her life in London, or could this be where she truly belongs?

I absolutely loved it and can't recommend it enough! The story, the descriptions - everything about it is so good. Such a great story and definitely recommend for a summer holiday read.

This was a very enjoyable, happy feeling, light-hearted story set on the 'Mamma Mia' island of Skopelos. If you've seen the film the book visits various places the film did, like the beach and church, and the general vibe around Villa Athena will feel very familiar.

Laurel is feeling rather down and struggling a bit as her beloved grandmother, who brought her up when her parents died when she was very young, has only recently died. Then she is told she has accrued holiday from her event planning job that she needs to use or she will lose it, so decides on the spur of the moment to jet off to the Greek island of Skopelos. Both Laurel and her grandmother, Marnie, loved the film 'Mamma Mia' and always meant to visit for a holiday but never got around to it so Laurel feels her grandmother would have loved her going.

On the way there she gets chatting to outgoing Angie, who is also on her way to Skopelos for a holiday, and they become friends. One on the island she meets the quite eccentric elderly villa owner, Athena, and finds out that the villa is rather tired and old fashioned and Lauren is the only guest at the moment.

There are various other characters involved, a slight love interest for Laurel with enigmatic writer Mark, and a lovely foodie couple Chris and (very pregnant) Emily.

Athena then has a few health issues and Laurel steps in to help, and between all the new friends they decide to help Athena bring the villa back to life by staging a dinner party night with an Abba tribute band.

There are various characters coming and going throughout the book and by the end some go home... and some don't! Great fun and I can definitely see a sequel (please!) as I want to follow up on this great group of friends and see where life leads them - hopefully back to Skopelos!

After her grandmother passes away, Laurel heads off on holiday to Greece, where they always meant to go on holiday together but never had the chance.

Along the way she meets a mixed bunch of new friends, holiday makers and locals. She has a great holiday but what will happen when she is supposed to go back home to London?

Even though I don't know the film mamma mia very well, it was a fun read, and would be a great book to take on a beach holiday!

Review: This book had me at Mamma Mia, I love the films and so was excited to read this book.

It is written very well and has you engaged from the start. Full of hope and sunshine you cannot go wrong with this book.

A fun read which has you reaching for the ABBA CD's and booking holidays to Greece.

An enjoyable book with a difference. Will particularly appeal to fans of the Mama Mia film. A good read to put you into holiday mode. Did not develop into the romance I expected but that did not detract from the story.
