This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Another amazing dark read from a great author. This book was full of suspense and was a page turner for on the first page.

I have read The Optician's wife, so I knew what to expect from this talented author. And once again I was not disappointed. This was a thrilling, dark and gripping read. Recommended.

Pressure is tense and full of pressure as per the title. A good read and complex plot with believable characters that keep you hooked.

I've read a few books by this author and I am always drawn in - I found this book to be an intense and quite atmospheric read. At times I was confused, but easily found my way through the narrative. I thought it was quite a clever storyline and I will definitely read more from this author.

Betsy Reaverly draws on the classic thriller trope of putting people in a claustrophobic situation where they all get bumped off one by one. This time a film crew find themselves trapped with a killer in a submarine; it’s Agatha Christie meets The Abyss. The narrative flits between characters’ viewpoints, allowing their egos to run wild. As with any close space -just look at Big Brother- it’s only a matter of time before the oxygen levels fall, tensions fly, alliances are formed and in this case the body count rises.

Reaverly keeps the suspense going throughout with plenty of wrong leads and fraught moments. The jumping character points of view work well for the most part, although the subplot of an abused child may add some horror, but ultimately it takes something away from the mounting tension on the submarine. It’s not massively accurate if your a techy person, and the ending is predictably creepy rather than long lasting.

A quick light read, that offers a few gasps, but fans of b movie thrillers will probably have seen the ending coming a mile off - but it’s enjoyable enough.

A gripping read. Whodunnit? A murderer is on the loose. Well written and real edge of your seat stuff. 4.5*. Would recommend to others. My thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for the advance reader copy.

An enjoyable read, full of twists and turns. A little predictable but held my interest. Will definitely read other books by this author.

Having read other reviews for this book I had high hopes for Pressure. Having read the book I have mixed feelings about it. I love psychological thrillers and this book definitely kept me turning the pages, and guessing about who the killer was and why.
The story hopped around a lot; chapters from different characters points of view, scenes from the past of the "child"... it was hard at times to remember which character I was seeing things as. That said, the scenes of the child were done really well.
Then there's the ending. I was left with questions unanswered, and a sense of not really knowing what happened to him (trying to avoid putting in spoilers so won't go into details. When you read it you'll understand what I'm talking about).
Anyway, like I said, I have mixed feelings about this one. Despite it's con's, the pro's make it worth reading.

I had previously read Betsy Reavley.s novel The Opticians Wife and I loved it.
However I wasn’t as keen on Pressure which I found slightly odd and I couldn’t help the feeling that they didn’t actually need to be on the submarine in the first place.
I definitely think this would make a better movie than it was a book.

This is a book that had me interested through the entire thing. I will be honest it wasn't as gripping as my favourite by this author but it definitely had a lot of potential.

What happens when a bunch of strangers are forced to spend time together in a claustrophobic submarine at the depths of the ocean? With Reavley of course there is murder and mayhem. An excellently creepy crime thriller with gently building tension that makes you question everyone.

Pressure is unlike any thriller I've read before. For one, it's set on a submarine that is stranded at the bottom of the ocean and slowly running out of oxygen. So not only are the characters facing the mystery of a serial killer, but they are also racing against time and their limited supply of oxygen. The chapters are continually rotating points of view and time frames, but not in a way that is confusing. The chapters told from the villain's point of view had me continually scouring the rest of the book for clues that hinted at who could possibly be the killer.

This book was fast paced, gripping, and an all around amazing ride. I don't want to give away spoilers, because I truly hope you will give this one a chance, but that ending WOAH!

This book is really creepy. But I found it fascinating trying to guess who was the killer. I guessed 3 or 4 different people, but was completely wrong. 4*

Totally gripping book that I thoroughly enjoyed. It switched between alternating timelines and character viewpoints which I found easy to follow and it totally added to this story. Very good book from this author which I would highly recommend although be warned it is quite disturbing and I found some parts hard to read!

I really enjoyed this book and found it to be very different from most of the other mysteries I've read, which is what made this book, such an interesting and quick read, for me. Although this book switches back and forth, from the perspectives of several of our characters, it was done in a way that wasn't confusing, for me. The characters in this book are not likable but that did not take away my enjoyment of the story. I did think that I had a good idea as to who our killer was but in the end, I was wrong and was surprised to learn who the real killer was and why this person was killing people. All in all, this was a very interesting and different book that I really enjoyed.
