There are kids who can not just open a general box of Legos and let their imagination fly. These are the kids who ask over and over again “What should I build”? This book has some fun lessons and creative ways to get started for the type of kid that needs primer cord before the imagination explodes. Both simple and complex projects that do not require special sets of Legos.

Brick Building 101 is a collection of activities using Lego bricks. Some are simple and others are more complicated so the book spans the interest and ability levels of different ages of kids. Some of the activities also use things that you most likely have around the house. Each activity contains lots of colorful pictures and illustrations along with step-by-step instructions which are easy to follow. The activities range from simple (making the shape of letters from Lego bricks) to exciting (making a balloon powered car) to useful (making a bird feeder). My favorite part is the STEAM Sparks sections that extend fun and learning. These sparks would also be helpful in doing the activities with siblings of different ages. Any young fan of Lego bricks would enjoy this book.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to write a positive review.

This book is an inspirational starting point to help parents design STEM projects for their pre-k through first grade children. Many of the exercises earlier in the book seem to simple for my kindergartner but there are plenty of activities for her in the next year or two. The launcher, zip line, balloon racer, and bridge/floating tests are great ways to help reinforce the concepts she is learning in school. On the other hand, some of the activities seem forced into the LEGO theme. For example, a planter, egg drop and volcano are excellent projects but they seem better done with other materials.

A very good way to introduce lego bricks in constructive activities for children. The activities can be used for weekends at home or incorporated at classroom.

My son is a little young to do some of the activities himself but he really enjoyed some of the projects! I made him a fidget spinner and we practiced some of the alphabet. It’s a really fun book and I can not wait to get the materials for the slime one. I appreciated all the parent prep tips as well as the information as to how it pertains to STEM and how we can expand each activity! Thanks to Quarto publishing group for allowing me early access to this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is a great book for introducing STEM concepts using a medium that kids already have and love. I also like the inclusion of parents into all of the activities.

This was a cute book. The ideas and projects involved all kinds of Lego creations. Many ideas I had not seen before. The projects are mostly for the preschool aged child. Older children would be bored with the ideas in this book. If you have a Lego fan, this book is a great choice for educations projects that you can do together.

Such a creative book for little girls and boys, Will definitely improve logical thinking and problem solving skills for little ones. It's not only lego but uses other stuff as well.
There are already lots of academic research about playful learning, learning through play and this book is definitely falling into this area.
I would recommend this book to children from 3 to years of age.

This is a wonderful book! It's clearly laid out, easy to use and full of great ideas. I love that the book is full of interactive projects that kids could use or make with another child or an adult. There are many opportunities in this book for kids to use their creativity to create unique objects and not just follow a pattern. I have two nearly seven year olds and they would love this book. Great for the classroom or at home.

Wonderful book! So much fun and all to boost imagination and improve thought processes and problem solving skills. In such a simple way for kids to follow and imitate, this book takes learning to the next level making it fun and doable with or without parental help. I will be buying this book to have a hard copy!!

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
