Perfect summer reading. Nick’s been Lizzie’s friend since childhood and almost told her of his deepening feelings on her 16th birthday but news that she’s accepted a modelling contract in New York stops him from holding her back. Years later when she’s reeling from a sex scandal and still grieving over a family tragedy they reconnect. Nick was always there for her and the question is whether she’ll let him be again and realise substance over glamour is always a win at the end of the day.

A bit too angsty and filled with miscommunication for me I'm afraid.

Lizzie had a crush on Nick forever as he was her brother Robert’s best friend. What Lizzie didn’t know was Nick was actually in love with her. And was going to tell her at her eighteenth birthday party but then Lizzie’s parents announced a modeling agency had signed Lizzie and she would be going to NYC. Then Lizzie told Nick she wanted him to help her lose her virginity but Nick said no. In his mind he had it they would marry and eventually have kids. But he didn’t want to scare Lizzie away but now she was going away without him saying a word. Nick decided he was done mooning over Lizzie and called a cab to leave. 2 years later- There had been an accident that killed Lizzie’s parents and robert was in a hospital in a coma hooked up to all kinds of machines. Nick immediately flew out to be with Lizzie. Her parents and brother had been on their way to see Lizzie when the accident occured. Lizzie couldn’t think or function. Lizzie hadn’t seen Nick often since coming to America but when the police asked her if there was anyone they could contact for her all she thought of was Nick. That was Nick kind and loyal - a man who put duty and responsibility before all else. For two weeks Nick held Lizzie’s hand through everything . Then Lizzie said she was going back to N Y and get back to work. Then she asked Nick to sell the house for her. Lizzie was now a high earning super modeland lived in L A. Then Lizzie got in a mess - she remembered having a drink with Charles- her boyfriend who had started out as her personal trainer- and Charles's friend she said she wasn’t feeling well and he got her a hotel room. Lizzie doesn’t remember anything else. Then Charles showed up trying to blackmail her into paying him one hundred grand and if she didn’t give him the money he would go to the media. Lizzie refused to pay and Charles went to the media. Lizzie had turned off her phone and didn’t answer the door but then Nick was pounding on her door. Nick had seen the raunchy pictures as well as the sex video but he knew that was Lizzie’s face and body but it wasn’t really Lizzie. She was the only girl Nick had ever loved even if he had tried to move on with Sally. . But now nick bought Lizzie back to England with her to help her get over everything and stand by her for anything she needed or wanted.
I really loved this story and felt it was well written. I loved the plot and pace. I wish Nick and Lizzie had that talk on her eighteenth birthday instead of his ending up rejecting Lizzie when she asked him to help rid her of her virginity but I love dhow Nick was always there for her. Even when she tried to turn him away and he was the one Lizzie always thought of to turn to in time of need. Even when Nick was trying to go on with his life with another woman he when to Lizzie’s side when she was in trouble without being asked and took her home. I was so happy when Nick showed up at Lizzie’s apartment even though she hadn’t contacted him or let him contact him. This was just a great read and romance and i loved it. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I highly recommend.

Lizzie and Nick have always had a crush on each other, since they were teenagers - but she was his best friends little sister.

Now they are adults, one in America and one in London. When everything falls apart for Lizzie, Nick is there to help her get her life back together, but what will happen next?

A great read.

Sadly the title is also descriptive of my feelings about this book. DNF at 43%.

Nick Templeton was Lizzie Donavue's older brother's best friend. On the night of her 18th birthday she propositions him, unfortunately Nick was trying to pluck up the courage to ask her for a date. He rejects her, feeling that she has no feelings for him at all whereas, of course, she feels she has been firmly friend-zoned. Lizzie goes off to New York and becomes a famous model, then terrible stories are published about her and Nick rushes in to the rescue and takes her back to England.

There's a ridiculous amount of angst with these two - frankly I'd be worried about being related to either of them, the rellies don't fare well - but more problematic is that the book is so slow, frankly nothing has happened (bar the initial incident that gave rise to the stories) and the two of them are so wet they can't believe the other could have any romantic feelings for them. He's too staid and boring, an English accountant, for an international model. She's too superficial and stupid for such a grounded intellectual like him. Blah, blah, blah. When I was doing everything to avoid reading this book I knew I had to DNF.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A captivating romance should have complex characters, a lovely setting, and some will-they-won't-they. Too Damn Nice definitely fits that bill! Celebrity model Lizzie is pulled into a salacious scandal and her childhood friend Nick comes to the rescue, whisking her away from her L.A. home to his English countryside converted barn. But each has harbored a lifelong crush on the other, so how much tension will there be and will their secrets ever be revealed? This book switches between Lizzie's and Nick's points of view, revealing their true feelings and insecurities to the reader. This is a great love story set in different locations, with a few sad parts, and a limited number of secondary characters. I liked Nick, even if he lacked the confidence and self-assurance to tell Lizzie how he really felt about her. Lizzie was less likeable to me, fairly selfish and making poor decisions left and right. All in all, a good read!

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

English star model in New York/Los Angeles suffers from a childhood crush on her brother's friend, who, surprise, had a crush on her as well since they left the sandbox age. Alas, they can not come together for various reasons. When a scandal rattles our selfish female protagonist's life, our Too-Damn-Nice male protagonist comes to the rescue.

Narrative: 3rd POV altering between male and female protagonist
Location: contemporary London, London countryside, New York, Los Angeles
