Joe Weber and R. J. Pineiro managed to make me think with this military action thriller. They made me think about methods of warfare in this age of rapidly changing technology. They made me rethink the identity of allies and enemies. I was entertained by Ashes of Victory. I think what I enjoyed most was the pacing of the book; the story moved quickly and the twists and turns weren't telegraphed. The characters arent as layered as I would like, but they were still engaging. I would not label Ashes a character driven novel, rather the attraction is based on action. I would read more from these authors.

Simply OUTSTANDING ! This novel should scare the living daylights out of you. Joe Weber's finest work! I have read all of his military aviation novels over the years and with out a doubt this is his finest work to date. I truly hope that the enemies of the USA do not read this fictional story and decide to try the concept of this story in real life. As ex military myself, China has always been my biggest fear, not Russia. The story line is entirely plausible. Well Done Mr Webber, WELL DONE!!

If you like Stephen Coonts, Patrick Robinson, or Tom Clancy, add Joe Weber to your reading list. Mr Weber’s latest novel is “Ashes of Victory”. The book follows the American military as it battles all the usual suspects. The villains include; the Chinese, the Iranians, the Syrians, the Russians, and radical Islam. Weber includes strong female characters in his books, and this one is no exception. This story has that “ ripped from the headlines “ feel of some of Oliver North’s works of fiction. If you like thriller military fiction that is technically accurate, “Ashes Of Victory “ is for you.

Wow, what a great book this was to read, it kept me enthralled reading as to what way things would go/what would happen next. My only negative criticism was what I thought was too much military (Navy) language used in the book, so much so that you'd forgotten what half the acronyms were after a few pages.

The idea of taking down America's military and then having claw back to beat the adversary is not new. Also, the rogue general is a common thread in many military thrillers. This story relies on a weaker Chinese military than is apparently now the case. 'Ashes of Victory' is a page turner that continually keeps the reader on edge. Those in the know will be slightly iritated by minor issues of military fact, such as the inclusion of Subic Bay Naval Base as a current US facility. (http://www.navy.mil/index.asp)

Another great book by the only real author able to weave Clancy-like dialogue and keep you reading. Interesting what if but of course the "Seals" save the day which is really getting worn out in books. Yes, they are the best and the final option but I wish more was written about how they are prepared by all the "average Joes" out there.

Okay, they could be too personal, back to the book.

Great story and details, two authors who can write together and bring us all along for the ride. Lets' all read.

This is a really well written book. For those who miss Clancy and his books, this is in a similar vein. The United States aircraft carriers are being targeted .but by whom? President Macklin and the Unites States military are on the verge of World War III. I can't recommend this book highly enough. Please buy this and enjoy an author who gets it done.
