Cara, whilst coming home from a night out in London, gets caught in the midst of a terrorist attack. She is saved by a stranger, Amy, who helps her to seek refuge. Whilst hiding,Cara tell Amy her deepest secrets, thinking she’ll never see Amy again, Cara believes her secrets are safe. Your Closest Friend is a thrilling read, very tense and whilst it is predictable, it’s worth reading. There is a twist at the end which definitely makes you rethink everything you’ve just read.

Whoa! Hold on a minute - let me catch my breath. Your Closest Friend sizzles with tension and menace. I thought I had already read my best book of 2018. Wrong. This is it!
Starts at breakneck pace as Cara finds herself caught up in a terrifying terrorist attack on the streets of London - her certain death prevented by Amy, who drags her into a doorway and up a flight of stairs to a storeroom above Pret. In the darkness and desperate to survive Cara divulges to Amy her darkest secrets about her marriage, her husband, her affair…

Days after the attack Cara is back home, back at work as a radio producer, when her life starts to spiral out of control. She starts to receive anonymous threats. And when Amy reappears as if by coincidence Cara turns to her for support - her closest friend? Or her worst nightmare… She invites Amy into her home to help with her family.

This is a psychological thriller that will shred your nerves with its relentless pace. Your Closest Friend is a real page turner. It never lets go. It grabs you from the get go - feel your pulse racing. The effect is hypnotic as you read on knowing that dreadful events are inevitable to a final twist that really had me holding my breath.

A stunning read, better than Gone Girl with a whiff of Single White Female. I doubt that I will read anything better this year.

My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK-Michael Joseph for the opportunity to read this e-book. (less)

I love trying to guess how a thriller is going to turn out as i'm reading and sometimes I manage to get it right, not this time though! This is such an intense story that it just keeps you guessing throughout! Thoroughly enjoyable and gripping story.

I really loved the s opening chapters of the book and thought the whole thing was well written but I simply wasn’t convinced by some of the plot. Although the terrorist attack at the start was the cause of the drama it soon seemed to be sidelined. There were a couple of twists but most of the story was fairly predictable.
It’s still a decent read though so I would still recommend it. Just not one of my favourites.

The book kicks off with a London terror attack drawing you in instantly.

There are questions to be answered, secrets to be revealed and all are teased out thoughout the book.

Amy is a creepy character who has you on edge, the intensity of her obsession was surprising and made for a strong twist and ending.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’ll be looking out for more.

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Michael Joseph, and Karen Perry for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a real page turner which starts with Cara being caught up in a terrorist attack on the streets of London one evening on her way home from work. She is helped to a safe hiding place by Amy and the two have a rather intense two hours with Cara sharing a lot of her life while in a state of high anxiety and fear of her life.

The book is told from the alternate viewpoints of Cara and Amy and quickly gets very unsettling as it becomes apparent that all is not as it appears on the surface in the lives of both Cara and Amy. There are many twists and turns with the plot moving at a good pace. It kept my gripped from start to finish and was a good story with a decent ending.

With thanks to NetGalley and Michael Joseph (Penguin Random House) for inviting me to read a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

On her way home following an illicit rendezvous with an old flame Cara is caught up in a terror attack in London. Face to face with an armed terrorist Cara freezes, but she is suddenly plucked off the street to relative safety by Amy. There is no doubt that Cara's life has been saved by Amy's swift actions, but Amy may not be the good Samaritan she first appears to be.

A psychological mystery about a dangerous obsession with some decent suspense, particularly towards the end. This genre has been somewhat overdone of late but this book is one of the good 'uns.

I'm really sorry that I didn't like this book more, but in my opinion it was derivative and added nothing to the 'stalker' genre. There were no surprises and none of the characters felt real. Again, I'm really sorry but thanks to Netgalley for my ARC. I'm not going to leave such a negative review on Amazon as other people may really enjoy it and I don't want to put them off.

I really don't know how I never read any of this author's previous books when this was an absolute cracker! Loved it from the off. If you like psychological thrillers, this definitely ticks all the boxes. Talk about page turner, I really could not wait to get back to it after I put it down.

Cara's life tumbles down around her after meeting Amy who pulls her to safety during a London terror attack. Shocked and vulnerable and a bit too much to drink Cara tells Amy her deepest secrets. Amy then worms her way into Cara's life and home and manipulates her and everyone around her turning Cara's life upside down. In the meantime Cara is getting threatening texts from "Your closest Friend".. Dont want to give too much more away but this is a must read. And if I could give it more stars I would!

Absolutely loved this physiological thriller. It has two main characters Cara and Amy. After meeting during a terrorist attack, we follow their journey into a very disturbing relationship, in which there are many twists and turns along the way.
Couldn’t put this book down, great author, great read.

I really enjoyed this book, lots of twists and turns through the story to leave you wondering what was going to happen next. It was interesting to see how the main characters relationships developed and intertwined. I really did feel for Cara with all the trauma in her life with just about everything going wrong. Some of it her doing though. The ending of the book was superb I couldn't put it down last night I was desperate to find out what happened.

Good psychological thriller told in alternative voice. Tension builds nicely throughout with a good twist at the end. Good development of the characters. Always enjoy Karen Perry books and this was not a disappointment.

While parts of this book were full of tension and suspense there were parts of it that just didn't ring true. I especially thought the opening terror attack was just shoehorned in to create a reason for two characters to meet - surely if you had lived through such an event it would make more of an impression on your life.

This is a good psychological thriller, starting with the two main characters taking refuge during a terrorist attack. It is a gripping story and a real page turner. However, I have only given 4 stars because at times I thought Cara made some silly decisions that were unrealistic (I can't go into detail or it would give parts of the plot away). It would make a good holiday read.

This was my first Karen Perry book that I read. This story takes stalking and obsession to a new level, when you let someone into your life you don't always know what you are in for. You don't know how this person will affect your relationships with other people or your marriage, you also don't know how this person will treat the confidences that you share. Your Closest Friend gives insight into what can go wrong. This book was well written and took you into the mind of two woman, Amy and Cara. Although I did not like either of the two characters I enjoyed the story and was anxious to see how it all would end. I would recommend this book to all lovers of Psychological Thrillers, this is a book that will keep you glued to the pages until the end.

A good psychological thriller, full of menace and unlikeable characters.

Cara and Amy first meet when they are caught up in a terrorist attack. Trapped in a room together, unsure if they will get out alive and assuming they will never meet again anyway, Cara divulges her deepest secrets to Amy. However, they do get out alive and go their separate ways but before long their paths cross again… From thereon the story alternates between the two women.

This book is fast-paced, tense and full of twists and turns. Although I enjoyed it for the most part, some of it was a little predictable.

My thriller of the year so far!!! Suspense until the last page, I absolutely loved every single page of this book.
Straight away on the first page I was sucked into Cara and Amy's world and I could hardly put it down until I finished it. The writing style is brilliant and I can't wait to explore other books by Karen Perry.
The characters are well rounded and believable. You can imagine the scene like a movie without the book being overbearing with details. I loved it!!!

Your Closest Friend by Karen Perry was my 12th book of 2018, and not a bad read at that.
It’s my first read from this author and it was very easy to slip into their writing style, which makes the book a free flowing, page turner of a read and I finished it within a week.
The story follows two female characters, Cara married with a kid, and Amy a cafe worker, following them meeting in shock circumstances as they find themselves caught up in the middle of a terror attack in London.
Cara unloads a lot of personal information on that night where they are hiding from the terrorists. This she may will live to regret.
After the terror incident Cara tries to put it behind her and why she was there when she wasn’t meant to be in that part of London. Amy won’t let Cara go and pursues Cara’s friendship.
Cara’s marriage is under threat and Amy worms her way into Cara’s life. Following lies and her affair Cara starts receiving texts from YCF her ex and lover, this spirals with Amy’s involvement, life becomes very frantic for Cara.
You get to know both characters quite well, although in a way both characters are both vulnerable but in two very different ways.
This book is an easy good read. It doesn’t really have any twists and is easy to see where it is heading, but I don’t think this detracts from this psychological thriller. It left me feeling it could have been a little bit more but all the same I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will certainly read this author again.
I was given this free copy by @netgalley and @penguinukbooks in exchange for this honest review.
I give this book a solid 4/5.

A very hard read although I felt that the outcome of this story was evident from early on in the story, but had to continue to the end to prove I was right! A few twists and turns but on the whole an obvious plot.

A complex and twisted tale of love, obsession, friendship and betrayal. I was gripped from the dramatic opening scenes and with so many unexpected twists, I was never sure how the story would play out.

The narrative switches between Cara and Amy, thrown together following a terror attack in London. Secrets divulged during a time of fear in the immediate aftermath of the attack are the hinge for events which follow. This is a strong psychological thriller; the reader is unsure of the real truth and motivation; skilful reveals as the story unfolds are complicated, but plausible. One of the central figures is unraveling and it's difficult to know which one or why.

I really wanted to know the what and why of what happens. Great read, devoured in a couple of sittings and very impressed.
