Wow! So much to look at and so much to see! Full of fun facts for all kinds of nature enthusiasts. There are maps, animals and physical science blurbs. This book will engage readers of varying abilities and ages - a lovely book with beautiful illustrations. I would have rated it 5 stars if there were photographs in addition to some of the pictures, which helps learners makes authentic connections. Are you planning a summer vacation? Are you staying in the U.S.? If you are, think about visiting a National Park. This book will make you appreciate the rich natural heritage of our country.

Did you know that the National Park Service began under Ulysses S Grant? That is just one interesting fact that came from this book for children and their families. Divided by geographical regions and parks within each area, this wonderful book highlights when each park was founded, where it is located and what can be seen there. The illustrations are so appealing that the reader definitely enjoys exploring in this book. Highly recommended for travelers both real and armchair.

The artwork in “National Parks of the USA” was amazing. It would make a good present, or would be good for coffee tables. Personally, I would have liked to have seen actual photos of everything but the art was so good that I didn’t mind too much.

Starting with "Get ready for a big adventure!" I loved this book. It was packed with information and questions about the National Parks of the USA. It begins with a clear map indicating where the parks are. It then gives an enticing description of each one followed by a page packed with facts and illustrations regarding all the wonderful things you may find if you go there, both man made and natural. A beautifully and thoughtfully illustrated book with a poignant promotion at the end of the need to protect the National Parks. Lovely to read and discuss with a child. Also can imagine a child poring over the pictures.

Each section of the US is profiled, with more in depth factoids about three or four parks in each section. The sections are East (as in East Coast), Central (as in the Flyover states), Rocky Mountains, South west, Pacific Coast, (known here as the West), Alaska and the Tropics, which include Hawaii and the Virgin Island.

Enjoyed learning about the parks, some of which I was unfamiliar with.

This could be a great resource in the classroom, as well as in the home.

I've given this five stars, but, it should probably be 4 3/4 stars, because there are two things that make it just short of perfect.

Of the two problems, one I hope will be fixed before publication, and the other that should be fixed in a future edition. The first is that they put the wrong date for the founding of Yosemite. This book says it was 1980. In reality, it was 1890. The second problem is that in speaking about the National Park at the American Virgin Islands, it does not say which island it is on. It is on the Island of St. John. It makes a difference, because there are four major islands in the chain .
