Enjoyed this little story! I can easily see this as a full length novel and I kind of wish it was. I really liked the concept of it and I feel that this can really go deep into the characters and their complexities. It was good, but I felt since it was so short it just went too fast and I didn't get the chance to care about the characters or trying to figure anything out.

This is an extremely short story which took me about 10 minutes to read

The plot is excellent and I really think this could have been turned into a full blown novel

I love Jane Corry but I am really not a lover of novellas and now I understand why because they always leave me wanting more

You get a good idea from this though about what type of writer Jane is and she really is excellent

Short and sweet, this is a 50 page story following two sisters. One sister claims that her husband is trying to murder her, but the other says that he is not the killing type...who should we believe?

A very quick story that is easy to read. I love Jane Corry's writing style and hope that this will become a full length novel with perhaps some further twists down the line. I was gripped from the first page, and I loved both the twists (although I saw one coming). Another author to watch out for.

I really liked how short but gripping this novel was. Started off lackluster but ending up being quite enjoyable of sorts. A perfect thrilling albeit short read

A punchy short story that will keep you gripped with its secrets and lies

Danielle and Susie are sisters,!only 14 months separate them but they are not close and are like chalk and cheese.

Danielle asks to meet her sister regarding her husband Simon, who she thinks is trying to kill her. After several accidents and a car crash as her brakes were tampered with, she turns to Susie for help. Unfortunately Susie tells the police that her sister is melodramatic and she does not believe her. The case is closed.

A few months later after a surprising marriage, Susie is in court being charged with murder!!

A great twist at the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this short but sweet book. It certainly makes me wonder what would I do to protect my family and who when pushed is the killing type?

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

I finished this novella before I had even realised it! It was enthralling from the start wondering what was happening with Danielle, Susie, her sister and Simon, Danielle’s husband. The next twenty minutes of my life flew.

When Danielle thinks Simon is trying to kill her and Susie doesn’t believe her, well, you know the fallout will never be good.

I would love to have read this as a full novel rather than a snappy novella as the premise was intriguing and would be so fascinating in a full feature but I did thoroughly enjoy this bitesize version. Plus that ending! It almost makes you question if Ms Corry was writing some truth in this story.

This novella has enticed me to check out Ms Corry’s other book and will be increasing my ever growing TBR list! In fact, I have the Dead Ex to read!!

Twists and turn aplenty here, but I found this too short to be satisfying.

Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read a copy of this book.

I adored this novella! My only complaint was that it wasn't a full-length novel. The concept was fun, well thought out, and a roller coaster to read. The tension between the sister's was believable, and I even found myself believing the accusations that both of them made. I was completely caught off guard by the ending - I mean seriously, who doesn't love a well read detective? The writing was engaging and easy to follow, and the pacing was intense but not overwhelming. This is a quick, fun read with just enough mystery and thrill to wet your whistle and leave you wanting more.

As a note, a copy of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way. Review also found on Booked J and Goodreads.

This short story just wasn't for me. I almost didn't finish it but I have a mad amount of respect for Jane Corry. I came across her work on accident but it was definitely one of those deliriously delicious and happy accidents. I love a good thriller and Corry provides readers with some of the best. There's a reason why her work is such a hit but The Killing Type was, sadly, not one of the many reasons.

Maybe it's less of the fact that The Killing Type is bad (it, on many levels, is not a bad story) and more of the fact that I am just not all that keen on short stories. Corry is one of my favourite authors in the genre but much like with my luke-warm reception of Gillian Flynn's short story The Grown-Up, this story didn't do much at all for me.

In-fact, I desperately wanted to both like and finish The Killing Type. In terms of premise, I adored it! I find the psychological elements, and the relationship between sisters, featured in it to be utterly engaging. Especially after having read Blood Sisters. But, it felt... underwhelming and not unlike a jagged puzzle piece trying to fit into a spot that it just didn't belong. I think that The Killing Type could have been a good story--if it was a full length novel.

However, the simple fact of the matter is that this was not my cup of tea. If you are a die-hard fan of Corry, and if you adore short stories, you will devour this in the blink of an eye. I have a feeling that one opinion will be universal: this needs to be a full-length novel ASAP. I'm serious, Corry, I'm not opposed to begging on my knees for more!

Overall, it didn't quite live up to its potential but it also wasn't a horrendous read.

Very, very clever. How Jane Corry managed to get so many twists and turns into a short story is beyond me. She's definitely some kind of magical conjurer with words. Despite being a self professed loather of short stories, this was very, very good and very, very inspired. She gets it right every single time does our Ms Corry! It's 5 stars and a big "Bravo" from me!

The Killing Type by Jane Cory is an excellent short story about sisters. The author has a way with words and is very descriptive when telling stories. This has a complex plot that could easily be made into a full length novel.

Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book.
This was a very short story. I had it read in no time. I found it to be insubstantial and silly! Nothing engaging between the pages at all. A total waste of time! Sorry!

The Killing Type is a GREAT short story about two sisters .
This may be a short story but it has well developed characters
and a great story that reads like a full length novel
due to the complex plot. A great read!

I have had a couple of Jane Corry books in my TBR pile for a while now as they keep popping up in my recommendations. This Novella was a perfect introduction to her suspenseful, plot twisty writing style and was the perfect way to spark my need to read her other books. To be able to build suspense and plot twists in such a short book leaves me wanting to devour her other ones. 2 sisters 1 controlling husband and a murder what a read! Thanks #netgalley for giving me the chance to read this book. #goodreads #litsy insta #tea_sipping_bookworm #janecorry #thekillingtype

I couldn’t help but feel disappointed that this was only a short story as it made the plot seem rushed.
However, I did enjoy it as I’d forgotten how much I like Jane Corry’s style of writing. A quick, easy read for anyone who likes this genre.

After reading “My Husband’s Wife” by Jane Corry and rating it 5 STARS on GOODREADS, I was excited to read this novella. Honestly, I’m not sure if this was made available to anyone to read at no cost, but if it wasn’t, it should be. With that said, part of what happen when I was reading it on my Kindle was because I had the percentage turned on and at 50%, I thought I had read half of the novella, but it was THE END. The other 50% was a preview for another book written by Jane Corry. I was expecting more because my device showed that I was only half way through and the story felt unfinished.
***SPOILER ALERT***
Without going into what can be read in the description, one sister goes to jail for a crime she (they) commits and the other is expecting a baby by a surrogate with her new lesbian lover?! I’m not sure where that came from because both sisters had been married to a man and heterosexual...so what happened?! This just seemed like a very random and one, two at best sentences to end the book. I’m not saying I wouldn’t read another book by this author, but I wouldn’t recommend buying this novella or reading it if your looking for a satisfying story.

I found this book too short and it seemed to be very rushed, as a result I didn’t really get into the characters or the story itself

A short story by Jane Corry about two sisters. If anything too short - not enough detail and jumped over periods of time without really explaining everything. Didn’t enjoy it at all. Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Books for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we first practice to deceive. And deception is most definitely the name of the game in this twisty, gripping short story of lies, manipulation, murder and secrets with a added dash of poetic justice.

Susie and her sister Danielle have never been very close and are now barely on speaking terms. So when Susie receives a message out of the blue from her sister begging to meet. Susie knows something must be wrong.

Susie is shocked when Danielle informs her that she is terrified of her husband Simon and believes that he is trying to kill her. Susie doesn't believe Danielle who has a history of lying and being over dramatic. Susie knows that Simon is a bit of a bully but surely he wouldn't hurt Danielle?

But then the accident happens, the sisters circumstances change and Susie finds herself caught in a situation that forces her to rethink everything.

Who is lying?

Who is telling the truth?

And who,really,is the killing type?

What crime - and let's be honest here - are you capable of?

This riveting, short story is told in short, snappy chapters that alternate between Susie and Danielle and jump quite quickly through time. There is also a chapter that covers a traumatic event from the sister's past. Being a very short story, the reader isn't given much time to build a connection with either of the two sisters. But I can honestly say that I liked one sister a lot more than I liked her manipulative sibling.

I really enjoyed this compelling short story that had me hooked in from the very first page. I think this would have been a really enjoyable, twist packed, full length novel. Highly recommended but far too short.
