This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. I didn't want to stop reading it. I got so invested in the story and with the characters. It tells the story of Polly who would love to finally have a plus one for her best friends wedding. It tells of the highs and lows. I found this funny, engaging and I smiled a lot with this book. I really recommend it.

I was so excited to read this book! I'd read good reviews from other bloggers etc so on one hand was looking forward to get stuck in but on the other hand was a tad worried it wouldn't live up to expectations or maybe just wasn't the book for me - however, I really needn't have worried as it was a really great read.

It's lighthearted, it's funny in places and a bit dramatic in others and just made for a nice easy read - the perfect way to spend a sunny day!

The Plus One is a classic chick-lit read - 30 something girl in a job she doesn't love searching for a man she might love. The setting moves between the wealthy world of the aristocracy to a chemo ward where the main character's Mum receives treatment, and I liked the variety.

Like a lot of chick-lits, this was an enjoyable read at the time, but I haven't thought about it since.

Gave up on this book after a couple of chapters, couldn’t get in it. Probably be an easy beach read

I’m sure this would be a good light read for someone who is young and carefree. I did read it but a bit too much sex for the sake of it for my liking. Maybe I’m just a bit straight laced. Don’t let me put you off though as I’m sure it will be very popular., just not for me

Life seems routine of work, feet on settee with too much wine and then to bed to start the routine again the next day. Then along comes an assignment that leads to a passionate affair. On edge waiting to find if he will be the One! Will not ruin the ending but sure you will enjoy this read.

A humerous romantic easy read, ideal to take on holiday. Polly is a great character who you really warm to & who you hope will meet her Prince Charming in the end.

This was a light hearted beach read with a somewhat rushed ending, which was flagged earlier in the novel, much to my bewilderment - why trot out the rom-com trope minus at least the pretence of a surprise? There was enough here to keep me amused but the sex scenes were a bit cringeworthy - I don't need my Bridget Jones infiltrating my Fifty Shades!

The Plus One by Sophia Money-Coutts. Nice easy reading. Really enjoyed this book. Great characters with a nice storyline. Lovely book for a spot of holiday reading on the beach.

This book is an ideal holiday read. The story is simple and relatively predictable. A bit of a mixed bag, I really enjoyed the humour and there were some laugh out load moments. However, I can't say I particularly warmed to Polly or any of the other characters. I do enjoy a racy novel and not adverse to explicit sex scenes, however the terminology used in this book, I found, was particularly crude and 'laddish', considering it was coming from a female perspective. It didn't put me off but made me wince a bit. Also the sex scenes were a bit matter of fact and didn't portray any emotional or feelings and didn't add anything to the story. The ending was a bit rushed and a non-event and disappointing. Having said all that it is worth a quick holiday read if you don't want anything too taxing.

I absolutely loved this book. Wonderful humour and a real feel-good read. The author pulled it off and had me burning the midnight oil turning the pages. It is uplifting, funny and bright and big thanks for letting me read ahead of publication. I highly recommend The Plus One and look forward to more from Sophia Money-Coutts.

Sorry not for me, I gave up after 20 pages.
It has its place on the beach for some but characters a bit too vacuous and story too flimsy and predictable to keep me engaged.

A light-hearted read (Helen Fielding meets Erica Jong), following the romantic fortunes of 'Posh magazine' journalist, Polly, and eligible Marquess, Jasper. THE PLUS ONE had plenty of humour and memorable characters, although some of the references to 'Mums' and 'Pols' started to grate a little as the book went on. As with many novels in this genre, the overall plot was predictable, but the ending still felt a bit sudden and specious for all that. Although this wasn't particularly my cup of tea, it kept me reading and I can imagine it working well on the big screen.

What an enjoyable and humerous read! Polly, the thirty something protagonist of the story is single, stuck in a less than great job and lacks direction in life. I think everyone can identify with her on some level. But this book didn't go down the stereotype route and the characters really had depth. I thought Susan was so funny and I have definately had some simular conversatations with my mum in the past. I really felt for Polly and although the book was a little predictable there were bits where I wished I could reach into the book and either shake her or hug her.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read such a fab book.

A no great shocker romance but flows along nicely and makes a lighthearted romance read for the summer.
It was slightly comical and fun as well as having a bit of romance, friendship and family. More of a chicklit rather than romance but I romped through and really enjoyed such a joyful read.
The character's didn't exactly get me loving or hating them but there was enough there to keep some interest.
The plus one is an obvious storyline with the obvious twists and revelations.

I finished this book but I didn't like it. The story was not engaging, it felt like a none story - I felt zero connection with any of the characters. I just can't even, I was bored throughout the whole thing, the only reason I didn't DNF this was because I was hoping for a good ending but that didn't happen either,

This story is about a girl called Polly who writes for a magazine called Posh, an aspiring magazine which is aimed at looking at the lives of the elite. Polly is a very likeable character and I warmed to her fairly quickly. At the beginning I thought it might have been a bit silly but as I progressed through the book I began to really enjoy it. The book is written with humour and empathy for the characters. Polly's mother is diagnosed with cancer and the relationship between mother and daughter is characterised very well. When she gets together with Jasper I really wanted the relationship to work and you felt he actually did care for her. What makes this book stand out for me are the characters who have really been brought to life. My only negative is that there is a lot of graphic sex included in the story and I am not sure how necessary this was to the overall plot.

I was very curious about this book... why? Its summer and this time of year calls for a fun light-hearted read to lift your mood.
It was actually an enjoyable read. The story although quite predictable didn't quite get executed in a way that I loved. It was an emotional rollercoaster. From crazy cringe moments to sad moments and silly funny moments. It is really a fun read and it would recommend it to fans who just want to have a good laugh.

The Plus One by Sophia Money-Coutts

A wonderfully humorous story full of situations you want to hide from, while needing to read. Well written and with enough twists to satisfy even the most jaded reader, this is a must read for any romance fans –The characters are familiar friends you root for, or hate, but be warned the content has detailed and explicit hotness, embedded with romance and warmth. Reality combined with the dream.

This book has it all! Love, romance, sadness and sex. I loved it. Funny at times and moving at others. It’s worth reading just for the aristocrats names themselves. Polly is alone and wondering why whilst her friends are marching up the aisle. Couple this with a job she is starting to hate and a family crisis you have the recipe for a fantastic story. This will be on every beach this summer. Can’t wait for the next book.
