With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the book in exchange for an honest review.
I normally avoid reading books about being given proof of God’s existence and it took awhile to realise that was what it was about.
Having said that any book by Peter James is one you willing want to read. The book was extremely interesting and was absolutely fascinating.
Full of facts, incidents, murder, foul deeds and possible miracles.
Highly recommended.

I also found this book had to get into but it was well worth sticking with it. As usual Peter James never fails to deliver and I enjoyed this and will recommend it to my reading group which often struggles to find books that will be enjoyed by the men and well as the women.

Absolutely Superb - a fantastic book that should not be missed. An extremely difficult subject to cover but Peter makes a brilliant job of it. He brings in a pretty wide range of 'interested parties' in a second coming of Christ. Don't expect another Da VInci Code - this is far better. I guess all the way through you are wondering how it will finish and what a 'sign' might be. The ending does not disappoint and is very clever. Loved every minute of it.

A brilliant book. I really don't know how anyone can write a book that is so full of facts and yet so fast paced. A reporter has a race against time to prove the second coming of Christ. This chases across countries, making many enemies on the way. If I have a tiny criticism, it's that tighter editing of domestic details would make it even faster paced. Nevertheless, superb.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC

A thought provoking stand alone novel from top author Peter James that will certainly entertain. This book is different from the Roy Grace novels I have read by this author and is more akin to Dan Brown's Da Vinci code as pointed out by others.
When an investigative journalist Ross Hunter receives a call from a Dr Harry F. Cook stating he has been given absolute proof of God’s existence, he begins to question the sanity of his caller. Ross is obviously sceptical but curious enough to agree to meet the Doctor to find out more. Following the meeting Ross although still sceptical decides to to take a closer look into the Doctors claims. When Dr Cook is discovered dead he knows that there is something more to his claims and with the help of Dr Cook’s solicitor he agrees to start the investigation. Ross is given the co-ordinates of evidence that will prove Gods existence, a quest that many people are interested in both believers and non believers. I found this quite a slow burner but intriguing and well worth sticking with.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Macmillan for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

When I heard there was a new book from Peter James and a hint of “The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown” I was intrigued to know more.
Ross Hunter is and investigative journalist, who is good at his job but, trouble always finds him. He is married to Imogen and they are expecting their first child. But, their marriage is strained after coming home from Afghanistan, Ross found Imogen with another man. One day he gets a phone call from Dr Harry F. Cook who is an art professor at Birmingham University. Firstly, assuring him that he is not a nutcase and he tells him that he has absolute proof that God did exist. He was also advised that the respectable journalist that he is, with his help he will be taken seriously.
Ross is sceptical at first, curiosity takes the better of him and when Dr Cook ends up dead he knows that there is something too this and with the help of Dr Cook’s solicitor he agrees to start the investigation, did god really exist? He is given sets of co-ordinates to follow to gather evidence of God’s existence.
The journey takes him, from Glastonbury to Paris and Egypt where he realises he has been followed and someone tries to kill him, but as Ross has been in danger in all his investigative career, he seems to take it all in his stride. There are several people hunting him down, all with their own agendas. But, this makes Ross even more interested to find out is God really exists.
This is a standalone from Peter James, I have read a few of Peter James’s I have enjoyed them immensely. I found this one a little slow at the beginning and quite long. But I am glad I stuck with it. It became more suspenseful and intriguing that kept me wanting more and to know what the outcome was. 4 stars from me.

I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Absolute Proof’ by Peter James in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Ross Hunter is a reporter and when he receives a phone call he nearly doesn’t pick it up as he has a deadline for a news story he’s working on. But not one to miss a story, Ross picks it up and the voice says he’s Dr F Cook and that he’s been given absolute proof of God’s existence and that he also has a message from his twin brother Ricky who died thirteen years before. Ross agrees to meet with him and to take it from here.
I’ve read several Peter James books, especially those in the Roy Grace series which I thoroughly enjoyed, but I found it difficult to get into ‘Absolute Proof’. I thought it started well with Ross working as a foreign correspondent in Helmand Province, getting injured and returning to England, but as soon as Dr Cook came into the story my attention wandered. I plodded on but found it slow and tedious and although I’m sure others will enjoy it I’m afraid that I’m not one of them.

This is quite a hard one for me to review, I'm a big fan of Peter James and I have enjoyed his novels featuring Roy Grace. This one started of quite fast paced with journalist Ross Hunter suffering a personal tragedy and then a stint as a war correspondent. Upon his return relations are strained with his wife and then a stranger contacts him with a message from someone who can't possibly deliver that message themselves...

Here is where it lost me a bit....it felt like a Sidney Sheldon type story which I love, then went into a bit of a Da Vinci style, which isn't really something I enjoy, which is why I'm having trouble reviewing it.,,,

I am giving it 4 stars as I enjoyed the first part, it was gripping and well written, it just wasn't my cup of tea, but I know many others will enjoy it, so I do feel it deserves the high star rating.

This is my honest opinion, thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.

As a big fan of the Roy Grace series of novels, I was really looking forward to reading this. And boy was it a belter! More like reading a Dan Brown than Roy Grace, the title refers to absolute proof that God exists. I don’t want to give away any of the plot, except to say that a number of different characters and stories run at the beginning, but it all makes sense as you work your way through it.
I read the entire book in two sittings and loved it all the way through. It certainly makes you think when you have finished it, and without doubt, it was one of my favourite reads of the year so far..

Hooked from the first chapter. A fast paced story. Was interesting to read in the afternotes that Peter had actually been approached by a guy claiming that he had proof and the thought process to go into a story over the last twenty plus years. I can see this being made in to a tv show.

I really loved the main characters and the brilliant plot. I read this book in one sitting and could not put it down. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Totally captivating thriller posing the seemingly unanswerable question of God's existence and questioning how different religions and big business would react.

A very different type of book from Peter James, with echoes of The Da Vinci Code. Not at all like the Roy Grace books but a real good conspiracy theory. The story centres round the return of Jesus Christ, It was a bit slow in parts and I found it a bit long to be honest. However, fans of Dan Brown will enjoy the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. Reviews on Goodreads and Facebook.

Firstly, I am a huge fan of this author and his Roy Grace series. I think this is the first stand alone book of his that I have read. I did enjoy it but it went on a bit! I found myself a bit more engaged with the storyline during the final third of the book. Despite the subject matter, it wasn't overly religious which was good for an atheist like me!

It felt like a bit of a chore to read at times but, overall, I did enjoy it - 3 stars.

I should start by saying that I'm a big Peter James fan and have read all of his previous books. I was really looking forward to this one, as it's so completely different from his DS Roy Grace series and with a fascinating premise, that of 'is there a God'?

It was a mixed read for me. The story is well told, but rambling in parts and with much superfluous information. Ross Hunter is a journalist and the beginning of the book really grabbed me with the background of his experience in Afghanistan and his spiritual experience regarding his brother.
However, as the book progressed, I found it plodding in parts and hard to follow in others, although, this may very well be tightened up in the final draft. There are plenty of characters and situations that keep you gripped and I hope Peter James isn't insulted when I say it was a bit 'Dan Brown' in parts!

Overall it was a 3.5* read for me. Not as good as I'd hoped, but, an enjoyable journey.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy in exchange for this honest review.

A really intriguing read from start to finish, it reeled me in at the beginning and being very curious I needed to know how it ended, you don't get bogged down with the religious subject and it's all easily explained, a throughly enjoyable read

Ross Hunter is not a true believer in God, he is confused. He is convinced though that he had some sort of strange experience when his twin brother died some years ago but put it down to the accepted strong connection between identical twins, even though they were estranged.
When a well respected academic, Harry Cook approaches him saying he has absolute proof that God exists Ross can’t help but be intrigued.
He agrees to look in to the evidence that Harry Cook has and it is then that everything starts to go wrong. Ross finds himself in extreme danger with a major pharmaceutical company and the Vatican in pursuit.
This is an intricate and well plotted mystery. Fast paced, all the threads are pulled together until the climax. Fans of Dan Brown will love it. Intelligent and thought provoking.

Absolute Proof

An absolutely brilliant read! I suspect this will be a book which Peter James fans will either love or hate. I enjoyed Perfect People and I've followed the Roy Grace series. Absolute Proof is a complex and thought provoking thriller which explores the 'what if..?' of God and the consequences for various religious beliefs.

I haven't read any Dan Brown but did have the misfortune to see a film called the Da Vinci code which was preposterous. This book bears no resemblance to that gung ho nonsense. Absolute Proof is a cleverly plotted and intelligent thriller which challenges and involves the reader. There's much to enjoy as a trail of clues is followed by maps and cryptics. The characters are plausible and there are so many twists and turns, it's impossible to second guess the outcome. It's a cerebral read in that it poses so many questions about the nature of belief, control, big pharma and so on. But at the same time, it's a fast paced thriller which kept me engrossed from start to finish. I'm certain it'll be much talked about and I loved it.

My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.
