I have read a couple of the author's books and have always enjoyed them. This is another great story, full of tension and intrigue, particularly as it takes place in a courtroom, which add a certain amount of drama. I thought this was well-written and flowed nicely, though I did manage to predict the ending. However, this did not lessen my enjoyment of this book and author.

No Further Questions is a courtroom drama that will tug on the heartstrings. Two sisters go up against each other in court, after one sister is the nanny for her sister's child. This tugged on the heartstrings, given that these sisters love each other dearly, and have to go up against each other in court. I enjoyed the court room scenes, and felt they were written very well. This book had me absolutely hooked; I knew it would, as I have read some of Gillian McAllister's books and think her writing style is fantastic. Be warned however that this book does cover triggering content.

I've had a few Gilliam McAllister books that I've only just got round to reading. What on earth was I waiting for!! She is brilliant. You can tell for sure she has a legal background, due to the attention to detail in her books. This had me gripped as usual!

Highly recommended

I loved No Further Questions by Gillian McAllister, a dark and emotionally challenging story in a courtroom drama that investigates the tragic death of a two month old baby. It kept my attention throughout trying to work out who was guilty with a great twist at the end. A fab, fab read.

Dear Publishers.

Firstly, thanks very much for the opportunity to read and review this title.

Unfortunately, I just wanted to let you know that I won't be reading and reviewing this title due to the large number of titles that I currently have on my shelf, and my inability to read them all. Also, I feel that a review at this late stage probably won't assist you or the author. For these reasons, I've decided to tidy up of my Netgalley shelf and I will be removing this one from my TBR pile.

I hope to be able to read and review further titles for you in the future.

Thanks and Regards
Kim

This is a good story however I did find the two sisters’ relationship a bit weird

One sister accused of murdering the other one’s baby I don’t think I would be as sympathetic towards her and believe that she didn’t really do it

Great ending though and didn’t see it coming under the last couple of chapters

This wasn’t the book for me. It wasn’t what I hoped. Not what I expected. I couldn’t give it a chance. It’s not something I would read

Ohh I loved this book. Gillian McAllister is a firm favourite crime writer of mine and No Further Questions was no exception. I loved the plot and the depth of the characters. Fast-paced and fascinating, laced with the intricacies of the legal system.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.

An emotional rollercoaster, you don't want to miss! I was totally emersed in this dramatic courtroom drama alternatively told through sisters Martha & Becky.

I really loved how this book was written all the past events were relayed to the reader via witnesses and the viewpoints from the judge were really interesting. Every witness adds a different element to the story.

The short chapters are constantly adding to the tension and making it impossible to put down until the very end - This is McAllister's best book yet, not to be missed!

Thanks to Penguin Books UK & Netgalley for sending me this in exchange for an open and honest review.

Unfortunately I read this book a while ago and seem to have missed it when writing reviews. - sadly I cant remember enough detail to give a full review.
However, thanks to NetGalley for the ARC :-)

A brilliant yet harrowing family courtroom drama peppered with twists and lies. I’m not sure I would class it as psychological as many other reviewers seem to have done but it was gripping. My one criticism would be that it was slightly too long-winded for my liking.
Thanks to Penguin UK - Michael Joseph for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

No Further Questions is an intense family drama, set with the courtroom on the whole, it follows the lives of two sisters Martha and Becky and the death of Martha’s baby Layla. Becky is on trial for her murder. The story explores each characters point of view from the first person, delving into events before the death of Layla to create a build up of the picture.

The author builds the emotion well. Can Martha trust Becky? How can the family remain neutral and not side with either sister? The drama is heartfelt. I felt a lot of sympathy for Martha, although at the start I was shocked when she leaves her baby to head to Kos to sort out problems with her newly founded charity. However, the death of a child has to be one of the most horrendous experiences a person can go through, and to have your sister on trial for their murder in unthinkable. This build up of character is excellent and you can't help but feel the loss with Martha.

As the trial progresses, it shows in details the work of the lawyers to find the truth behind Layla’s death. It is very difficult to try and guess what the outcome will be and the way information is revealed piece by piece leads to a very big surprise to the conclusion of the trial.

It’s very difficult for the reader to determine who is telling the truth, and what actually happened to Layla, and I think this shows the excellent work done by Gillian Anderson.

I have loved all her books and I look forward to the next.

No Further Questions was my first book by Gillian McAllister and it definitely won't be my last. A gripping tale told from the perspective of a close-knit family caught up in harrowing circumstances, this story really tugged at the heartstrings.

Excellent read. Moving between the courtroom and the events leading up to it the story is told from the different character’s perspective’s. Families torn apart, loyalties stretched and a totally jaw dropping twist

I should point out at the outset that my usual read is crime fiction so although this was related to a court trial was a bit off-piste from my usual course. However, I've really enjoyed court thrillers such as from John Grisham in the past so was more than happy to give this one a go to have a break from the 'normal' diet of crime fiction.
What was most telling for me from this book was that by the half way point I just wanted it to conclude. The way it is styled is such that the mother - Martha - really doesn't know how she wants the trial of her sister - Becky - to turn out. Her sister is accused of smothering her child - Layla. Understandably the emotions of the family involved are all over the place and this comes across to the reader as you empathise with the situation of the different parties involved. But this turmoil ultimately means you don't know what you're wishing for as the outcome either and half-way through I realised I didn't really care, which for me was the telling point.
I did get through to the end and it's worth sticking with it but ultimately the plot was a little too simplistic for me, less action and more emotions/feelings, than my usual read and I lost most of my interest in it in what felt like a short story that was dragged out a bit to fill a novel.
It's my first Gillian McAllister book and I wouldn't rule out another (as she has had previous bestsellers) but this wasn't the one for me.
As ever though I'm grateful for the preview copy on NetGally. Thank you.
