This book was a compelling read that had me hooked from the beginning. It was full of twists that kept you guessing until the end.

Thankyou to NetGalley, Penguin UK- Michael Joseph and Claire Douglas for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Do Not Disturb.
Right from the first chapter, the reader is drawn into an intriguing story that captures your attention. Hints are dropped regarding the back stories of the central characters. Strange things are occurring in the home/guesthouse. Ms Douglas has weaved a novel that is spine-tingling spooky with so many twists and turns. This is an edge of your seat thriller that will not let go until you reach the climatic conclusion.
Would highly recommend Do Not Disturb,

This is the first novel I have read by Claire Douglas but have made a note to seek out the others soon.
Kirsty, Adrian and their two daughters, Evie and Amelia, move from London to Wales to open a guesthouse believing they will be fulfilling their dream. The move doesn’t bode well from the beginning as Kirsty’s mother has had to assist financially and will be living with them as well as helping with the running of the bed and breakfast.
Creepy thing start to happen right from the start and gradually the past is revealed including the real reasons for the move. Kirsty’s mother invites Selena, Kirsty’s estranged cousin and Kirsty’s brother, Nathan and his wife Julia as soon as the guesthouse opens. As well s the other guests Kirsty finds the dream is hard work and she is soon fighting tiredness and a daughter who doesn’t want to be there as well as another who seems to be scared all the time.
When the accident/murder happens it could be anybody in the building who was responsible. There are several twists and turns with an excellent ending which I did not expect at all.
Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin UK, Mcihael Joseph and Claire Douglas for the ARC in return for my honest review.
Great read. Highly recommended.

Great book - really enjoyed reading it and getting to know the characters and their interactions and most of all secrets.

I love Claire Douglas's books. This one was gripping, it's a mix of mystery, murder and suspense, set in a creepy old guesthouse with guests who have secrets and also, may or may not be a killer. As well as the locals that don't take kindly to the newcomers Kirsty and her husband Adrian, it did feel at times as if I was reading a modern day Agatha Christie. I didn't guess the ending but that makes it even better!
Look forward to the author's next one.

Kirsty, her husband and their two daughters need a fresh start away from London. They move to Wales and buy a very old, run down house, intending to run it as a guesthouse along with Kirsty’s Mum. Some of the first guests are Kirsty’s cousin Selena and her poorly daughter Ruby. Kirsty hasn’t spoken to Selena for many years, since they fell out. We slowly learn why Selena has come to visit and what secrets she is hiding. This book has all of the elements of a classic ‘who done it’; it’s creepy in places and has a tragedy thrown in too. I didn’t find this Claire Douglas book as gripping as some of her others and initially found it a little difficult to keep reading. The story did however build up as I read more, to a really enjoyable and satisfying ending.

After a traumatic event, Kristy and her family start over in Wales where they open a B and B, but their first guest threatens to destroy the fragile peace they have built. This is a tense and suspenseful mystery, but doesn’t quite measure up to the author’s previous book

There's a great selection of characters in this book who pull you into this thriller. A gripping twisty read. Brilliant for fans of a psychological thriller. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to review this book.

This book is about a family that move from London to Wales to open a guesthouse. Kirsty is hoping to build a successful business and family home where they can all be happy. But it doesn't go quite to plan. (Won't give too much away you'll just have to read it to find out what happens.)
Well what can I say, is that I really enjoyed reading this book. I found it very gripping and didn't want to put it down. It is well written and easy to read. It all seemed to flow nicely with a thrilling storyline developing from early on in the book.
I liked the characters in the book they have been developed well and all have different ways of coping with what happens as the book goes on. If I was to choose my favourite characters I would choose Kirsty and her two daughters.
This was the first time I have read a book by Claire Douglas but it definitely will not be the last.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you are looking for a creepy, scary at time read.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Penguin for my Advance Digital Review Copy in return for an unbiased review.

A compelling read in that I couldn't put it down however I felt it wasn't as good as her previous books.

Well written and interesting storyline. There are many characters in this book and they all have their own story. Looking forward to reading more from Claire Douglas.

Very clever read, this one was.
After reading the blurb, I was very excited to get right into the story and I was very pleasantly surprised! This book is well written and keeps your attention glued to the pages!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Kirsty and Adrian have relocated to Wales to run a guest house with the help of her mum. Trying to balance Adrian’s recovery from depression, a slightly emotionally detached mother and two daughters Kirsty’s plate is quite full. The arrival of Selena, Kirsty’s cousin, with whom she has been estranged from for 17 years throws a massive spanner in the works.
This was a dark and twisted read and I admit I didn’t enjoy the first half but then I was sucked in and devoured it!

Brilliantly claustrophobic and deliciously creepy, I absolutely loved Do Not Disturb. It’s one of those books that’s just great storytelling. Another absolutely gripping book by Claire Douglas in a classic Agatha Christy-style whodunit.
The story follows Kirsty, who moves to the Brecon Beacons with her husband and children to open a guesthouse. But nothing turns out as planned. When her cousin Selena arrives with her daughter after being estranged from Kirsty for so many years, things go from bad to worse. As everyone around her becomes a suspect in a murder, Kirsty becomes less certain their move from London was a good idea.
Douglas does a wonderful job painting the setting of the Brecon Beacons as breathtakingly beautiful, while simultaneously making it feel chilling and claustrophobic. The characters are well drawn and interesting and I often didn’t know who I could trust, even the children. The plot is fresh and intriguing with twists that kept me genuinely surprised.
Thank you to Netgalley for letting me read Do Not Disturb by Claire Douglas in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this, there was an interesting cast of characters and the setting worked n a creepy way with a possibly haunted house.I really wasn't sure who was telling the truth and who was not, and I was even suspicious of the narrator to a certain extent.it all seemed very believable to me and kept my interest, and kept me guessing until the last page.I would look out for more books by this author and really enjoyed this one. Thanks to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC.

Kirsty, husband Adrian, their young daughters and Kirsty’s mother move to the Brecon Beacons to fulfil the dream of opening a guest house. The place needs a lot of work, and not all the locals are friendly, but they’re finally ready to open the doors and welcome the first guests.
Of course, all goes far from according to plan.... the first guest arriving with an unexpected dog in tow and immediately announcing that the house has a “bad energy” is only the start. Kirsty’s long-estranged cousin Selena has also come to stay with her disabled daughter, fleeing her marriage and - as ever - bringing trouble with her. Strange things are happening - threatening messages which seem designed to taunt Adrian, who is recovering from depression, in particular.
The guest house setting was inspired - providing a great set-up for a domestic thriller (possible dangers not only lurking outside, but welcomed in), and Claire Douglas is excellent at building a sinister atmosphere.
Narrator Kirsty was a believable protagonist, generally expressing the same doubts and suspicions as the reader - can I trust this person? Could they be lying? I always find this refreshing as so many characters in psychological thrillers seem to walk around with their heads in the sand. That said she did miss one significant deception which was probably more obvious to the reader. I found Kirsty a relatable character, particularly with regard to coping with serious mental health issues in a partner.
The ending was unexpected and I’m still not quite sure what to make of it.
All in all a great read.

Only a 2* review for Do Not Disturb by Claire Douglas..
"After what happened in London, Kirsty needs a fresh start with her family, and running a guesthouse in the Welsh mountains sounds idyllic.
But then their first guest arrives, Selena is the last person Kirsty wants to see.
It's seventeen years since she tore everything apart.
Why has she chosen now to walk back into Kirsty's life?
Is Selena running from something too?
Or is there an even darker reason for her visit?
Because Kirsty knows that once you invite trouble into your home, it can be murder getting rid of it"
Having read Last Seen Alive, I had high expectations for this new book by Claire Douglas. Unfortunately i was disappointed because it did not come across as the psychological thriller it was portrayed as, but it was more like a cross between Murder She Wrote and a YA ghost story. It dealt too much with the minutiae of the day to day running of the guest house and the few scary snippets that were added (like the china doll Lucinda) did not have the tension, drama and suspense I was expecting from them, but more left me wanting to finish the book as soon as possible to see if the ending would be worth it, however I had worked it out by half way through so that was a bit of a let down too.
On a positive note I felt the subject matter of Ruby's illness was very well dealt with and that part of the story I found fascinating, and enjoyed her interactions with Amelia and Evie, as was the grief and repercussions for the whole family many years later of the death of baby Natasha.

Do Not Disturb is a wonderful and creepy read but not one for just before going to bed. Kirsty, her husband Adam and their two daughters, and her overbearing mother want a new start and leave London to open a guesthouse in a small Welsh village. From the first night when an old friend of Kirsty's shows up unexpectedly things go wrong and she wonders whether they have made the right decision after all.
The characters are well drawn and the atmosphere is terrific. A definite page turner for fans of psychological thrillers. I have read both of Claire Douglas' previous books and she never disappoints her readers. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin for the opportunity to read and review Do Not Disturb.

Another exceptionally well written psychological thriller from the very talented Ms Douglas. The strong storyline once again displays a real flair for depth and realism and also, this time, very tangible shades of a classic Agatha Christy who done it. All in all a wonderfully atmospheric and totally immersive read.

This was a great read for me , full of twists . Some expected some not so much . Kirsty and her husband buy a run down guest house in the Brecon Beacons to fix up as a business along with Kirsty's mother as a business partner things seem good as their first paying guests arrive .. When her cousin Selena comes to stay with her sickly daughter a massive chain of events is set in motion . Kirsty and Selena have been estranged for many years and Selena brings unwelcome drama to Kirsty's life . It seems everyone in this book had secrets , even the kids , I really enjoyed this and raced through it . Thank you for the opportunity to read this
