I received a copy of this book as an ARC from net galley in exchange for an honest review. It is fair to say that it is not one of my favourites. I enjoyed the multiple narrative styles. The characters "talk" from their point of view, there are diary entries and texts. The plot line was different, the characters were a little edgier, not the run of the mill 17 year old. However, It is far too predictable and also full of inconsistencies - since when did ALL British policeman carry guns - certainly never in my Britain. Luke's evidence at his trial really confused me he appears seems to have given evidence on two separate days with other witnesses in between - it almost appears as if he gave evidence for both sides. The ending is a real disappointment it didn't resolve anything

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

I was pleasantly surprised when I picked this up. Started on a whim one morning, I told myself I would only read a couple chapters, and then a quarter of the book later I realized I'd been ultimately sucked in.

Told by way of diary entries, blog posts, sns chats and through multiple perspectives, it flips from past events to present day as it slowly unravels the mystery behind 17 year old Eva's murder. All signs point to her rebellious hot tempered boyfriend Luke.. And as the story progresses we learn more about their relationship as well as the people around her and their thoughts and actions.

This book easily hooks you from beginning to end, and kept me guessing throughout with its compelling manner of misdirecting the reader as to who is really the killer. Each character in the story is not what they seem, which is exciting and contributes to the mystery of who the real killer is.

All in all a solid 4 star read for me, and I would certainly be interested to check out some of this authors other works in future.

This is a YA mystery/thriller about a girl who is murdered and her bad boy boyfriend is the main suspect. This was an interesting take on the generic mystery/thriller. The story itself was nothing new, popular girl gets murdered and everyone assumes the boyfriend with the poor family background is to blame, but the way the story is told is quite unique. I found it interesting to hear the story from six different perspectives and a couple of different timelines. It was a little confusing at first and took some time to get used to who everyone was but it made things more intriguing and added to the mystery. Unfortunately, there was just too much about the book that I didn't like. Some relationships were too strange, some of the characters really annoyed me and none of the plot twists or reveals were surprising.

When I chose this I did not realise that it was a YA book. Having said that I did enjoy it as the youngsters were real. Keep changing stories to suit the situation, the characters were well described and although I do not think that this was an original story it was well written. I must say though that I was very disappointed with the ending as it was too much up in the air for me to have closure.

Liked the twists but didn’t think it was particularly original or believable. Very pacy though, raced through it.

Young adult mystery. As an adult I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it but I really did. Why weren’t there such genres when I was a teen!
PlAyed out like a documentary this is slightly ck, well written and compelling.

Well written, good use of social media with the blog posts, Facebook and WhatsApp. Keeps you guessing til the end, and still doesn't give up all the secrets!

I happily anticipated this book - a multiple voiced narrative, with conflicting POVs around a teen's death? Sign me up for some contemporary thriller YA!
The many strands are well handled and the tension is suitably ratcheted up - bad boy Luke is the obvious suspect when beautiful, well-heeled Eve is found dead in the woods..so far, so good. Unfortunately I've recently read One of Us is Lying which dealt with a similar subject - and in a much more interesting way, I felt.
Perhaps the problem is calling this Young Adult - if it was labelled psychological thriller in the crime section, I would have less issues with the parts that made me queasy...the teen temptress seducing the adult, the scenes of them in a hotel bedroom together, and the fact that the ending leaves an innocent in jail and a psychopathic murderer free to kill again.

An enjoyable book but clearly a YA book. Story was OK but seemed quite Americanised? Confused the whole story.

Although this is classed as YA, like many other books in this genre it can be enjoyed by any age, especially those who love mystery/thrillers.

When Eva is found murdered, the main suspect is quickly established as Luke, Eva’s boyfriend who has a temper and was deemed by many as not good enough for her. The story is told from various points of view, as well as diary entries. This means you don’t know who is reliable. The writing is brilliantly done and drew me in as I couldn’t wait to find out who the killer was.

The only flaw ai found was the ending felt a little rushed.

Full of twists and turns, you will be thinking about this book long after you finish reading. If you like an unusual narrative, and suspense, this book is for you.

I was optimistic when I started to read It Ends With You as it sounded like a good strong storyline for a mystery/psychological thriller. Indeed, the first few chapters up until about one third through were gripping. However I began to suspect that this was a book aimed at young adults; the constant references to various social media tools and the very child like notions of love and relationships were indicative of this.

I also couldn’t shake the impression that the story was based in the USA even though I knew that it was in England. Perhaps the style of writing was more in line with USA writers.

I liked the way the chapters were each based on a character’s viewpoint as this helps to strengthen the mystery and made me speculate on how events had unfolded. However, I cant forgive the disappointing ending.

I did not realise this was a young adult book. I read it and it held my attention nevertheless. The dynamics between the characters was entertaining but they were all pretty unlikeable on the whole. I expect this to appeal to the target age group.

An engaging read that keeps you thinking throughout. Probably best suited for YA readers due to the themes explored

Initially I was a little reluctant to start this book, having discovered that it was YA fiction; however, I'm glad I did read it as it was thoroughly enjoyable. I couldn't work out whether the right person had been caught for the crime and it kept me guessing for a large part of the book, and the twists and turns were well written and unexpected. Highly recommended.

Firstly, I must admit that I didn’t realise this was a YA (Young Adult) novel when I requested it from NetGalley, but as I was sent a copy I felt I should give it a fair review as I would any other book. It is in the thriller genre that is one of my favourites so I felt that whatever age group it was aimed at I was still pretty likely to enjoy it.

It Ends with You follows the case of Eva, a beautiful teenager who is found dead in the woods not far from a party she attended that evening with her boyfriend Luke. It is not long until Luke is arrested and accused of her murder as so much evidence points towards him having committed the crime. But do they have the right man in custody? What really happened that fateful night?

We hear the story from the point of view of Luke, Eva herself (via her diary) and other friends within their group. I found the writing a wee bit simplistic and at times the plot veered off into the territory of “No way, that would never happen” but if you’re prepared to (largely) suspend your disbelief then it isn’t a bad read. Perhaps because I am officially an Old Adult and not the YA audience this book is aimed at I am a little more cynical in my reading – I don’t know. Plus I have read so many incredible thrillers and police procedurals that for me the bar is set very high within this genre.

That said, it’s an OK read and I am sure would be much better appreciated by its intended reader group

My thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of #ItEndsWithYou in exchange for an honest review.

'It Ends With You' is an entertaining young adult mystery that is marketed towards YA readers and whilst I did enjoy it, I found that some of the characters really got on my nerves. They were quite irritating and did things that I thought were rather irrational and not believable. Award winning author S. K. Wright (real name Sam Mills) is undoubtedly a superb storyteller and her writing grips you immediately. Nevertheless, this wasn't a book I particularly cared for i'm afraid.

One of the aspects I particularly liked was the method in which it was told. The author not only uses different characters each chapter to tell the tale but also includes interjections of social media posts which added interest to the story. Essentially, this is about prejudice and in particular people who are viewed by society as outsiders and are maybe a little odd or quiet. It shows the judgments others make about these individuals despite not knowing them. I could relate to this as I may be one of those people but not due to being odd, due to being shy and reserved. We are all to some extent guilty of doing this, and this book shows the consequences of these misconceptions or preconceptions. It is based on well worn tropes of the genre, and I feel that there are books that are similar to this but that are superior and much more worthy of your time. There are some pretty neat surprises throughout, however, many of them were predictable which did take away a little of the enjoyment for me. The characters are quite difficult to relate to as they're all privileged and self-centred kids who care about no-one but themselves, and as a result were not at all likeable.

As others have alluded to, there was an information dump that continued the whole way through which led to a convoluted and often confusing story, certainly not ideal. Most of the information we are given was not relevant to the plot either. There were times that the dump resulted in a feeling of wading through treacle and as though the story wasn't moving forward at all. It was also difficult to sympathise with any of the characters situations as many of the incidents were very far-fetched and unbelievable. The denouement left a lot to be desired, as always, I don't include spoilers in my reviews, suffice to say that it was not a satisfying conclusion to the book. It left many questions that the plot threw up unanswered which is rather annoying when you have put the effort in to read the whole story. If you enjoy books such as '13 Reasons Why' by Sarah Pinborough and 'One of Us Is Lying' by Karen M. McManus then it's likely you will appreciate this one too.

Many thanks to Atom for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Certainly a younger persons book, but still a good read. Who did it? DI Jackson, Mr Abdul or Sebastian, or was it any of these. We'll worth a read

I was a bit surprised to realise that this book was aimed at the YA market as I certainly don't fit that demographic! I probably wouldn't have requested it if I had known this but I did quite enjoy reading it though I found some of the characters to be very annoying which is more than likely due to their age! I'm sure the young adults it is aimed at will enjoy it even more.
