Interesting and unique patterns for modular shawls.

Challenging, but not overwhelmingly so. A cute book with cute patterns for many skill levels.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC

I am going to be honest and say this book wasn't accessible for me as a knitter, it really is for an advanced/experienced knitter. So probably for someone else, it would be a 5 star read, lots of options and different parts that can be mixed together for endless combinations.

The math in this book was...overwhelming. Maybe if I were more interested in design this would be useful but as a casual designer much more interested in just creating from patterns, eh, not a great resource for me.

As with anything by Melissa Leapman, this book is well-presented, beautifully photographed, and full of inpsiring ideas. It covers the technicalities, from basic to more advanced techniques, and then presents the reader with nearly unlimited possibilities to design their own beautiful items. As a knitter, I tend to stick to the word-based patterns--schematics just don't work well for me--so this book did present a bit of a challenge.

I enjoyed this book and it has some very nice patterns easy enough for beginners. I actually made a shawl for a gift and my daughter In law loves it.

This is a great resource for those wanting to start to branch out into making their shawls unique for them. She starts the book with a very basic idea of a triangle and then modules to add to it. There are 20 patterns included which are very well written and easy to understand.

As a fairly new knitter I am a little intimidated to branch out and try to design my own shawl but now I feel I have enough information to do so.

A fab resource for knitters who love to create wearable fashion. Employs a unique method created by the author that allows you to design gorgeous outerwear based on customizing an easy triangular shape. Includes instructive photos and patterns. 5 of 5 stars.

Knitting Modular Shawls, Wraps, and Stoles by Melissa Leapman is an inspirational knitting craft book that I enjoyed. The author has put many options in the hands of us individuals to pick and choose what we like best. I really like that versatility. Her patterns seem very extensive but well spelled out. My favorites are Design #14 and Design #20. There are 20 designs to choose from overall, but the sky is the limit on the mixing and matching that can go on with all the stitches that she offers.
I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Great guide for custom-designed shawls:
This is a good resource for people who want to venture out and design their own shawls and wraps. Melissa Leapman has put together a toolbox to create all kind unique of shapes and pattern combinations. For me the book is just the right thing I needed to get creative and try to design patterns on my own with confidence.

Didn't love this book, though I do love Melissa Leapman. I just don't see me making any of these projects. Sob.

I have been knitting for 20+ years but have never made a shawl. This is definitely not a beginner book, but the pictures and instructions are so clear that it is definitely approachable with a little practice. There are many steps and decisions to be made in creating the perfect shawl, but this book makes it easy. The author breaks it down.... Step 1 - choose your silhouette. The author starts with the smallest component of the shawl - the wedge. Decide how many wedges you want. Two wedges creates a triangle shawl. Once you start adding wedges, there are different ways to put the wedges together to get different shapes - using up to six wedges. Step 2 - choose a stitch pattern. There are many in the book, but you can also use your favorites from other sources. There are instructions for how to adjust to a different stitch pattern. Step 3 - decide on a background texture. Step 4 - choose an edging, and Step 5 is about doing a cast-on tab. Step 6 is about choosing a border. Step 7 - choosing a bind off. There are so many decisions to be made in designing a shawl, but breaking it down into easy steps makes the process much easier. I'm looking forward to getting started with this book as my guide. Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the opportunity to review an electronic version of this book. All comments are my honest and unbiased opinion.

The possibilities are endless with this book! I received a free copy of Knitting Modular Shawls, Wraps and Stoles in exchange from my honest opinion from NetGalley.

This book is full of wonderful ideas and patterns by Melissa Leapman. There are so many choices, as far as edging, shape, and style, even a beginning knitter could set aside some time to create several shawls with virtually no effort at all! The math involved has already been done for you, so all the knitter has to do is decide which wrap to start first. The variety of patterns and the numerous choices for customization make this book a must have for anyone who loves to make shawls and wraps. There are many charts which are easy to follow, as well.

I can imagine that this would be very helpful for someone who likes to knit prayer shawls for charity, as there are many beautiful but easy options to keep the boredom away! I highly recommend this book.

Good if you like to pick out pattern sections to combine into your own design. I expected to be more of a fan of this book, but didn't find much inspiration in the designs. The download process also required a significant amount of ingenuity to be able to access the book.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Sometimes a book falls into your hands at exactly the moment you need it. Knitting Modular Shawls, Wraps and Stoles by Melissa Leapman is one of those books. I had just finished knitting my first shawl based on an idea that started what if I did this. Exploring this book took me further down the path and now five shawls later I’m hooked. This book is both for people like me who like to design their own knitting projects and those who like clear concise patterns to follow. The photographs are beautiful, illustrations informative and the designs interesting and creative... the only limit is your imagination. I would say definitely add this book to your Christmas list if you are interested in creating beautiful shawls wraps and stoles.

This book is a great resource for the shawl a knitter wants & make adaptations to it to make it your own. There are great pictures throughout. It makes it a terrific resource. I look forward to its release & think it will be an excellent addition to any knitting library.

Thoroughly detailed guide to modular knitting, albeit not for beginners. More than 300 pages in this ARC with numerous examples, models and knitting techniques, for every taste and occasion.

Casual or elegant, depending on what model and yarn type you choose, every example here is beautiful and clearly explained. Suited for every knitter who wants to create something special.

I can't wait to try the patterns in this book. A lot of stitch patterns have been charted out for you for all different parts of a shawl, all you have to do is mix and match. You can tell a lot of work went into this book. #KnittingModularShawlswrapsandStoles #NetGalley

This is a great book for the intermediate/advanced knitter.

Why do I say that? This has an excellent selection of knitting styles, how to build shawls, etc, but it doesn't have an initial step-by-step. This isn't a beginners books, this is the next step.

The shawls in this book are beautiful and are well explained. Be prepared to want to try out all the different options they give. Now, there are some designs in here where you are attaching two different knitted pieces, this is not just pure knitting.

Knitting Modular Shalws, Wraps, and Stoles was good enough that I am considering giving it as a gift to a dear friend of mine when it is released!
