The story is wonderful but the writing style is simple. I felt like I was reading my own family history as my grandmother’s family came from Sicily in the early 1900’s.

I appreciate the author's love of Italy. However, I found the book to be very confusing. So many characters! And the plot just plods along, with simple sentences that put me to sleep. I'm sorry, I just did not enjoy this book.

I didn’t get past the second chapter. I felt like I was reading a high school book report. I am sure the author felt strongly about this topic but it was difficult to read.
