LONDON LETTERS by Lucy Stephens was a disappointment. Yes, it includes 26 hand drawn maps of various environs around London (see small versions at link below), but it is truly a superficial introduction to any of those neighborhoods. Each section contains a "bucket list" with about a dozen venues and/or activities listed, with barely a phrase describing each. The local maps are monochromatic attractive art (might make fun posters or greeting cards?) more than useful directions. There are also lists with local train stations, landmarks and places to eat and drink, BUT there is only one suggestion each for breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, pub or cocktails per area. It feels like simply walking the streets or consulting more comprehensive sources (whether printed like The Good Pub Guide or online like Yelp, etc.) would be more helpful. London has much to offer, but this publication adds little value.

I have a weakness for books about London and I will be adding this one to my collection as soon as it is published. There's so much information included and I have already planned days out for many weekends to come. The illustrations are great fun , making this book not just useful but beautiful too. It would make a fantastic gift for any lovers of the big smoke and would ensure visitors to the city wring every last drop of interest out of their visit. Loved it!

Fantastic artwork has a big impact on this very innovative and useful guide to exploring London. Simple, but extremely practical, it includes maps and bucket lists as well as nearest stations; where to eat and drink; landmarks and, my favourites, 'Try to spot' and ''Interesting fact'. A fun way to entice you to explore London away from all the high profile tourist attractions. Thank you to Net Galley for an ARC.

So sorry... I thought the narratives would be transferable to my kindle but it doesn't seem to have this ability. What a great concept....I looked forward to rediscovering London after living there four years, I felt sure you would uncover hidden gems. I'll definitely look out for the title in .my bookshop. Many thanks #NetGalley and #Lucystephens

This is a to see guide like no other. This is perfect for those who have been to London several times and have done all the usual sights and scenes and are looking for attractions of the beaten track or just those who want to see parts of London outside the main tourist traps. There are 26 sections each relating to a different area within London and has two lovely graphics showing what the area is made up of and a map showing where the main attractions are. There are so many fascinating suggestions of things to see and do to suit all interests and tastes from cultural to culinary. Would recommend this to all who are planning to visit London and even those new to the city who want to explore it more.

London Letters is a wonderful illustrated guide to 26 areas of London. It is complied in A-Z format with each letter being an area of London. It includes a wonderful artwork of each letter depicting places of interest within the area. It recommends places to visit, where to eat and drink and how to get there. It is presented in a slip case with 26 folded cards so you can pull one out and go and explore! This is great artistic guide to London and I absolutely loved it. I received a free copy of this guide from Quarto Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. A favourable review was not required and all opinions expressed here are my own.

A lovely, quirky collection of maps of London's boroughs and all the best places to visit. I can't speak to the quality of the locations listed (poorly traveled American, here) but I do love creative maps, and this definitely makes me want to pack a bag and head off to London. If only it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I'd love to see this format applied to other major cities - like NYC, Berlin, Tokyo... That'd be awesome.

I really, really, really want to go to London now.

A charming, quirky addition to London tour guides. I have only seen the pdf version (and suspect that the hard copy will be more delightful), but discovered new places to visit as well as attractions I was unaware of. A great 'stocking filler' for friends and relatives who either live in the capital, or are considering a visit. Reccommended.

LONDON LETTERS is a fun, interactive and very cool guide to a very cool city, created by popular designer LucyLovesThis. Features 26 of the districts of London, with a list of what to do, see, eat, and drink printed on cards encased in a functional slipcase box. Highly recommended!

Thanks to the author, Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point, and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are fully mine.

I love the artwork and bucket lists included for each neighborhood in London. The letters for each neighborhood are beautifully designed and so are the maps. This book made me realize how much I haven't seen or done in London. As someone who loves coffee, I really liked that each neighborhood had a coffee shop listed.

It's such a unique guidebook and I would love to have one for other cities as well! I will likely buy this in hard copy when it comes out, simply because it is so beautiful and for the next time I'm in London.

This book is a really interestingly designed one. While I can't see the pullout pages right now, I think it would be helpful and make the book nice and slim. The artwork that is included is really awesome and it covered a few neighborhoods that I've never heard of before. One thing that I think might be a downside is that there is a lot of turnover in cities, so I would expect that a number of the places included might not be around for good as even old/established places are going away left and right. Either way, it would be a great present for someone who was going to London in the next year or so definitely.

I received a free copy of this ebook from Netgalley.com in exchange for a fair review.

This book is THE one that is different from all the others out there. If you truly want to explore London from a local view point and go beyond the history, this is your book! I often travel for business and try to explore the area and find something unique. History is great, but sometimes after a long day I want to explore and have fun. This book allows me to have fun but yet see a historical site or two and is going to be going with me to London this Fall!

Love the unique quirkiness the author brings to the reader. Can’t wait to see explore with this in hand!

London Letters is a really engaging pictorial guide to London. It would make a great gift for someone moving to London, or going there for a city break. It is clearly laid out, and there is not too much choice. As a London aficionado, I learned things I didn't know, which was welcome.
There are simple choices to make, which makes it easy to follow and choose an activity or a place to eat. The author also chooses areas of London I know little about, and are more likely to visit from now on. I will use this book.

This is a fun, alternative guide to one of the most popular cities in the world : London. From landmarks to food and drinks, the guide doesn't fail to include must-see things in each neighborhood, while in the same time it stands out for its unique design and concept. The illustrations are exceptional, and the information provided accurate. This is a book you will love having in your library, even if you're not planning on a trip to London in the near future.

This is not your usual guide book. Twenty-six hand drawn maps guide you through London, from A to Z. Each section/map comes with ideas where to visit, where to eat and some interesting facts.

The guide seems ideal for the returning London visitor, who hasn't seen everything yet (is that even possible), but is equally useful for first time London visitors, who do not want to trudge through London with a gigantic guide book. I can even imagine gifting this book to my friend who's been living in London for the past 15 years and still wants to explore places, eat good food and enjoy a day off work and outside the study.

London Letters is certainly different from most city guides I've read. It is quirky and fun, with less text and more illustration. However, I think that gives it only niche appeal as a travel guide. The focus is on food, markets/shopping, and musical entertainment, with only a few mentions of historical attractions and museums, and because of how it's presented, it misses some key areas around the West End. That said, it does include parts of London to which tourists wouldn't normally go, so on that front, if offers new options for those who have already visited all the key sites and are looking for something different. Overall, I give this four stars. It is nicely presented and great fun, but it is probably a guide for someone who has already spent time in London and wants fresh ideas, rather than someone coming to city for the first time.

Not sure how the fold-out maps will work but this. book is a stellar addition to the plethora of London travel guides. I cannot wait to get a copy for my next visit to the city I adore. Having been lucky enough to live in London before I was still unaware of many of the neighborhood treasures listed in this guide. The illustrations are appealing and the content is concise but completely informative

It’s books like this that make me wish I lived in London!! I love all things London, so was drawn to this book straight away. Whilst I was given this free copy on the kindle, it is actually a card book which consists of a slipcase with 26 folded cards. This is perfectly sized for slipping into your bag for your next travels around London.

The 26 cards, one for each letter of the alphabet, gives you neighbourhoods and districts of London each with a beautifully drawn map of the local area detailing the stations, eating and drinking places and local landmarks. These are also all detailed on the reverse with addresses, postcodes, phone numbers and websites – everything you could need for finding a local pub or restaurant! There are also a couple of ‘Try to Spot’ and ‘Interesting Facts’ for each letter and a ‘Bucket List’ of things which you really should do or visit before you leave the area!

A great set of cards to have for tourists visiting London and also Londoners who may miss out on some of these quirky places! Visit each place in order or pick a card at random! I would love to use these cards on my next visit to London and will definitely be looking at investing in a set!
