Anne of Green Gables, has been a favorite since childhood. I jump at the chance to read it whenever I can. Although this book is not new to me, I love it and wanted to be able to promote it. I love the descriptive writing of Ms Montgomery. I can see the lovely scenes played out I. my head as I read
Thank you netgalley for the gift of the arc, the opinions are my own

Thank you to NetGalley for the free copy of this classic. It was actually my first time reading this book! I somehow missed out on reading it in my childhood. I'm glad I still read it as an adult though, because I'm sure I appreciate it now for different reasons. The character of Anne is inspiring, and she grows and changes so much throughout the book. My other favorite thing was the setting, especially through Anne's enthusiastic eyes. Green Gables and Prince Edward Island sound beautiful. It was just a heartwarming and cozy read overall. I think Anne is great role model for young girls. Even though a few aspects of the book did feel dated, it has a timeless quality that will keep people reading it for many years to come!

When I was in grade school, the anime adaptation of Anne of Green Gables was aired here in our country. I instantly saw myself in Anne because I'm talkative, passionate and a bit stubborn then, therefore, it's easy for me to get drawn immediately to the story. I never read any of the L.M. Montgomery's books even how much I adore Anne Shirley and even if how many times I saw the copies of her books in a local thrift bookstore.

However, when I saw that there's an available series of this in Netflix, I consider that now is the right time to start reading the original novels. From how much I love the anime series that I've watched when I was still young, I believe that my affection to the story and Anne's character revitalize when I read this classic. I'm quite certain that I will buy the physical copy of the entire book series of Anne of Green Gables because this is a great addition to my library.

I had somehow skipped over Anne of Green Gables as a child. While I am familiar enough with the story through its influence and sheer popularity in juvenile literature, I found myself excited to read Anne of Green Gables. It holds up. The cover is adorable and will hopefully draw in a new generation of kids who might pass over an old-fashioned cover design. I'm curious to see if the publisher updates the rest of the Anne novels but this is a good (and fresh!) start.

I have seen the movie several times and even saw the musical when I was in Charlottetown about 20 years ago (which was when I bought my original books) but I will never tire of Anne with an "e". Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote with such lovely language that you could picture everything that was happening. I even cried when Matthew died, although I knew it was coming. If you are not familiar with this series, Anne Shirley is an orphan who accidentally ends up in Avonlea to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert (siblings) when they asked to adopt an orphan boy to help on the farm. Once she arrived, there was not turning back. She had an imagination that would not quit. She was such a loving and caring person that others flocked to her. She also set goals in her education that she worked hard on. She made many, many mistakes along the way, but learned from each one. There is humour, warmth, love and sadness in this story, but everyone will find something to like about it. This story is a classic that would be wonderful for middle grades (gr. 4 and up), especially girls. This edition has an updated cover that should appeal to that age group. If this updating brings the story to a new generation, then I say bravo.

Lovely book I read to my daughter and she thoroughly enjoyed it so much so she’s asked me to purchase a copy for her

Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books ever. I leaped at the chance to review a new edition of the book. While the cover is cute, there’s no new information here. If you know a young person or even a older one who has never gotten to know “Anne-spelled-with-an-E” then this book would be a great holiday stocking stuffer!

She's an orphan and she's a girl. She's sad to have no home but isn't worried about being a girl until she finds out the folks who were going to take her into their home wanted a boy...

Sweet Cherry Publishing and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can grab a copy now.

This is a classic story from the past that I read long ago and liked. I didn't remember much about it so I decided to read it again and see how it stood up after so many years. It's still a very good read no matter what age you are!

While she's not a boy, the man bringing her home is fascinated by her chatter. She names things magical things, tells him about herself and asks questions here and there. He enjoys it so he asks his sister to let her stay. She says she has to go back. She takes her to the lady who chose her for them and asks why they didn't get a boy. That wasn't the message she got from the message carrier, but she says she can place her. There's a woman with lots of children who is looking for a caretaker for her children. She's not a nice woman. She agrees she would take her and gives Anne a big list of does and don't right there in the living room. Marilla takes Anne home with her. Matthew will be happy and they'll adjust. It's good that she feels that way because there is a lot of adjustment to do...

Anne makes friends with the neighbor girl. She goes to school. She learns to cook. And she gets in trouble a lot. She has a fantasy world she escapes into and it often happens right at the wrong time.

Parts of this book will make you laugh and part will make you cry but Anne perseveres and it's a pleasure to watch her growing up. She bring life and love into a cheerless home that brightens up with her as an addition.

This was still a very good read even if it is an old classic. It's a great book for middle graders.

Book Feature: Reading Now

Have you ever read Anne of Green Gables? I bet if you're Canadian you probably have. Maybe if you're American, too...? I bet you've also seen the television adaptations.

As for me? I have just received a review copy of the book, so I'm meeting Anne for the first time.

Australian children have their own books they grow up with. We have some fantastic children's' authors here. And so L. M. Montgomery's classic never made it onto a school reading list where I live.

Now it's time to fix a gap in my "read" list on Goodreads!

This is my firs Montgomery book and it is always a pleasure to read a classic story. The world created by the author is extraordinary. I will enjoy it even more to read it to my children.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available.

It's been years since I read any of the Anne Shirley books and I loved getting to know Anne and the other residents of Prince Edward Island once again. This is a classic that definitely stands the test of time. Not all books I loved as a child can be enjoyed just as much now as an adult. Anne was just as charming and fun to read all these years later.

Thank you to Sweet Cherry Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to reread this much loved classic in exchange for my honest review.

Wonderful reading a classic that I haven’t read since a child. Anne Shirley is a character that I loved sharing with my daughters. She breaks the mold for girls of her time and I love the message this novel sends.

Charming and quaint. Anne Shirley is quirky, entertaining and full of life. Though widely known as a children's classic, people of any age will enjoy Anne and her world set out by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Anne of Green Gables by the Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery which was first published in 1908 is considered a classic children's novel and has sold over 50 million copies being translated into at least 36 languages. Films, made-for-television movies, animations, plays and even musicals have followed. So what is it about the story of Anne Shirley the young orphan that through a misunderstanding leads to her adoption by Marilla and Mathew so enduringly popular still? Perhaps it is because although the book begins in 1876 it has even to the modern reader an almost timeless quality and that the writing can not fail to move even the most stony hearted of us.

Montgomery's lonely childhood starved of love and affection would lead her to create imaginary friends and worlds to cope with her loneliness. In essence Anne of Green Gables would be the recreation of a childhood world that was denied to the author. Suffering from depression and having to care for her mentally ill husband for decades there is even speculation that she may have taken her own life through a drug overdose. Accompanying this is the the fact that her career was plagued by publishing and film disputes. However she created a kind of fantasy world (continued by 10 subsequent novels which Anne appeared in) where goodness, friendship, nobility and doing the right prevail. Also it can be reasonably argued that Anne acts as a feminist and as an individualist being consistent and true to her beliefs and views, creating a space to grow and learn.

Despite my advanced years I have never read the book before but hope that this wonderfully moving story will be enjoyed by new generations thanks to this new republication with its catchy cover.

This is one of the best books I've ever read and it stands up to the test of time. If you know a sensitive child filled with imaginations, this is the perfect book to share with them. I'm actually using this book with my daughter right now to help her through some of her own struggles. I'm not sure if she's catching any ideas on how to remain optimistic in the face of adversity or not, but we definitely have our fair share of giggles as we go through Anne's antics.

Thank you to Sweet Cherry Publishing and NetGalley for reminding me of the wonders found at Green Gables and all of Avonlea and allowing me to share my thoughts and opinions with others.

A new edition, part of the entire collection of books involving Anne of Green Gables by L.M.Montgomery has been published by Sweet Cherry Publishing this September.

If you are searching for a beautiful story in grade to stay for an entire life in the soul of your daughter, niece, and that can makes the difference, goes for this book.

The story of Anne has an authenticity and a realism that it is tremendously touching.

Both Anne Shirley's parents lost their life because of a terrible flu and so, at first, this baby lived in the family of the maid of Mr and mr.Shirley, Mrs Thomas.

Her husband Bert drunk too much; their family was numerous and Anne helped the wife of Bert with her children.

Bert died abruptly and the girl ended up with mr.Hammond and his numerous family: eight children!
Hammond died abruptly as well and Anne for a certain time ended up in an orphanage. Later, enthusiast, she was requested by two unmarried siblings mr and ms. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert in the beautiful island of Prince Edward. Oh: to her it meant the discovery of Heaven.
So, although at first the siblings desired a boy for helping in the fields, later they understood that this little girl was a sign of their destiny.

To Anne that one was a different reality from the previous one she lived in; that one was her home.
We will see her enthusiasm for the house, for Matthew and Marilla, for flowers, for nature, for her friend Diana, with hilarious facts, and sadness back again at some point.

Why buying classics to your children?

Because they don't have age and because they are written with the heart.
Anne of Green Gables knows an intensity and a passion that will capture the attention of your daughter.

Not only: it's a book that speaks of respect: regarding old people, children, families, life, people passed away.

Anne made a lot of personal sacrifices before to find a family in grade of loving her. Her life was hard, unlucky, she talked with imaginary friends for going on well in life and not becoming crazy; but, but...In all these situations she remained an educated, beautiful soul.

I thank NetGalley and Sweet Cherry Publishing for this eBook.
