The heartwarming tale of a girl trying to keep her mother's alcoholism a secret and solve the mystery of who her father really is. The scenes where Nell has to deal with her mother when she's drunk are just heartbreaking and intertwining her story with Nell Gwynne's was a brilliant touch. I loved Michael and his family too, not to mention hearing about all the unusual inventions he'd come up with.
