I love Mhairi McFarlane- her books have a fortunate tendency to make me cackle with laughter and this one was no exception.

It's great to be in a position to recommend much more diverse books to our young people at school. Building the senior school library as a place where students actually come and find books that they want to read as opposed to books that teachers think they ought to read is an important responsibility and one we take really seriously.
Books like this are such a positive move as they will appeal to a broader set of readers than we are usually attracting. Dealing with modern issues in a clear and captivating way with a strong narrative voice and characters that the students can relate to is critical as we move forwards. This book is both an intelligent and compelling read that will hold even the most reluctant reader's attention and keep them turning the pages long into the night. It keeps the reader on their toes and ensures that you give it your full attention too. I found myself thinking about its characters and events even when I wasn't reading it and looking forward to snatching kore time with it and I hope that my students feel the same. An accessible, gripping and engrossing read that I can't recommend highly enough. Will absolutely be buying a copy for the library and heartily recommending it to both staff and students.

Enjoyable read but nothing very original. Kept me reading with likable characters but probably won't remember it after a while.

I love Mhairi McFarlane - her books are funny, modern and just so entertaining. DYFAM, her latest hit follows that pattern.

A beautiful read, this one focuses on what would happen if you came across your teenage love over a decade after you've lost touch.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.

I thought I had reviewed this one but I see it still on my shelf. I no longer have the notes, but I did give it 5 stars on my goodreads profile.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it definitely won't be the last. This story has it all, funny laugh out loud moments, a very real feel and everyday modern issues. The characters were really well written and the story line around them was fantastic. The English slang is really well done and adds humour to the characters. This book will hook you from the first page. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended read
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book

Mhairi McFarlane just gets better and better. She has the light touch needed for comedy, but the depth that makes you really care about her characters, and really touches your emotions. She has become one of my must read authors.

Honestly the title of this book was what first drew me to it (I can't resist anything that sounds like The Breakfast Club), and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised despite knowing barely anything about the actual plot before reading. I think that was probably the best way to go about it. I had a great time reading, and I really ended up liking the romance a lot.

Mhairi McFarlane writes engaging, witty books. Her characters are always likable and well developed. I've read almost all of her books so far and it's impressive how none of her characters are similar (other than the ones that appear in multiple novels, of course!)

Georgina is a strong female lead. She's interesting, funny, smart, and engaging, yet we can see all of her flaws. And she sees her flaws more clearly than all of us.

Mhairi also succeeds in not making her male leads one dimensional. He is a fully-fledged character with his own backstory and personality (other than being a generic handsome and kind man like in many romance novels).

While Don't You Forget About Me often seems light-hearted, you can tell that there the characters have darkness in them and past events that still dominate their lives.

Another page-turning, well-written, enjoyable book.

The perfect mixture of laughter, heartache and kindling romances.

.Don’t You Forget About Me is a great read. The story explores relationships at differing levels leaving the reader with a rollercoaster of emotions - it made me laugh and cry. The main characters were gorgeous
Easy to read

This one had potential but sadly didn’t quit live upto it. Georgina is fired by her job and used as a scapegoat when a food critic accuses them of reheating food instead of making it fresh. When she arrives home she also discovers her boyfriend with another woman who claims he thought they were both seeing other people. When she applies for a new job, the owner is none other than a past flame... who “doesn’t” remember her. I wasn’t a fan of the male characters in this and I didn’t think the behaviours were “cute”. Not for me but for anyone who wants a slow paced romance.

We have one that got away, don't we? Not necessarily in a romantic way. It could be a job, a house, hell, even a pair of shoes but I think we've all been there.

For Georgina, there are many "ones". A boy, education, career and sadly, a relationship with her father.

Georgina has a really bad day. She is a waitress in an Italian restaurant which is known as the grottiest in Sheffield and unbelievably, she's just been fired. Letting herself into her boyfriends flat, hoping that he, Robin, will be able to cheer her up. Unfortunately , Robin is busy having sex with another woman.

Never mind though. Georgina picks herself up and manages to get another job in a new pub after helping one of the new owners out at the last minute when he needs help with staffing a wake. Awkwardly though, the other owner is Lucus and he was Georgina's big love from when she was in 6th form. The last time that they spoke was on the evening of the 6th form leaving do. Except Lucas doesn't recognise Georgina.

Georgina is a fantastic character who it is easy to love. She is kind, funny, loyal and caring. She has a family, who in some ways seem really close, but in others, really don't seem to know her. Georgina feels like a failure. She dropped out of uni and appears to just be drifting through life much to the annoyance of her mother. She does however have a fantastic group of friends who are just as fiercely loyal to her as she is to them

This is more than a romance story though. This is about a woman who is trying to find her way and her place in the world. Georgina has baggage (who doesn't) and she is working her way through her feelings, red flags and poisonous relationships.
I smiled a lot whilst reading this book but there was the odd snot bubble inducing crying from me too.

The story of Georgina and Lucas and how a young love can last forever even through misunderstandings.

This book made me laugh and cry. You hear the story through Georgina and live her life and see how things haven’t turned out for the best when a blast from the past reappears in the form of Lucas and the feelings are still there although he seems to not remember her. As events happen to her. They find their ways back to each other and a happy ever after happens.

This is a much enjoyable read and highly recommended.

This was a very light hearted read and didn’t take me very long to finish. Lovely little story but didn’t really stand out once I had finished. Would recommend as a holiday read

This book is one of those rare ones that had me gripped from page one right to the end, I did not want to have to stop reading it and was so eager to devour it’s pages.

Don’t you Forget About me features Georgina – a random switch up of her sixth form class back in the end lead her to being seated next to the mysterious new kid Lucas during a reading of Wuthering Heights, and first love bloomed. Fast forward to present day and Georgina is unexpectedly reunited with her first love, but it seems she wasn’t as memorable to him as he doesn’t remember her at all.

Georgina is great, a real sense of humour is overflowing from the page and it’s very natural and keeps you engaged. The events that unfold around her from the awful restaurant she is working in, her semi-famous self-absorbed boyfriend who cheats on her to her flatmate who regularly accuses her of stealing. There is so much to draw upon that builds her character.

And then there is Lucas the mysterious, tall dark & handsome first love who she now finds herself working for alongside his brother Devlin. Georgina seems a bit lost both her career and love life a mess and there is an element of self-doubt about her despite the fact it’s clear she is very beautiful and quite talented. As the book goes on the reasons for that self-doubt are revealed and without spoilers it’s such a great reflection of the current social climate.

There’s chic lit and then there is amazing chic lit and this is definitely the latter. There is so much to praise in this book, the character, the story, the humour, you can’t help but get caught up in the plot and be drawn in. I won’t be forgetting about this book in a hurry

I struggled at first to get into this book but don’t give up as things unravel and you will soon want to know how it all turns out. It follows the ups and down of the life of one particular individual from around their teenage years to adult hood. The writer lent me the ability to be able to picture the various characters quite easily but the main character was a bit trickier as how others saw them and how they saw themselves varied.

A very funny read that I could completely relate to.
It is brilliantly written with characters that are so very real.
A must read.

Mhairi McFarlane has a skill for writing brilliant characters you wish you knew but end up feeling like you know.

I fell in love with her writing after reading You Had Me At Hello, and sometimes after reading a book you adore, you worry it was a fluke or a one off, but Mhairi has nailed it again!

I loved this story. I felt like I could relate to the school times at the beginning and I had so much nostalgia!
And another beautiful but realistic and wonderful love story with extremely fanciable characters!
