3.5 stars.
I did enjoy the setting and the chapters being from a different POV and flicking between a 'before' and 'during/after' timeline but I didn't like the characters. Like at all. BUT this also made it an entertaining read as I didn't really care for any of them but at the same time, I wanted to keep reading just to see what the next bit of drama was going to be. There was some good plot twists as well, some more predictable than others but still enjoyable.

I definitely feel like the epilogue came a bit too soon, maybe another chapter or so would've tied it all together a bit more for me.

A compelling read - there are intricate plot threads that interweave through the characters' stories. From the start, I wanted to learn more about the characters, the group and their stories.

It's therefore difficult to put down and this is the quality hallmark of the thriller and mystery genres. Chapter lengths are short, so it's ideal for holidays, commutes and for those with busy lives. Each chapter is narrated at different times on the timeline and from different characters' perspectives. This works well, it's easy to understand the novel's timeline.

In the end, I felt I'd connected with the book and I enjoyed reading it over three days.

A great read with some great twists and turns. I just loved Lucy's writing style and I'm excited to read more of her work.

A quick read, this. I enjoyed it as it is very much an homage to Agatha Christie who I loved. Hateful people trapped in their expensive, gilded, snowbound hunting lodge of a cage make good fodder for a thriller writer. Though well plotted and paced, I've read too many crime novels to find much genuinely new. Echoes of Mark Lawson's "The Deaths". That said, you do actually have some sympathy for the "good" characters which is very much in its favour. Definitely a welcome diversion from my current socially distanced existence!

I thought that The Hunting Party would be an extremely suspense filled, page turner that would leave me hanging on the edge of my seat.

Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Though, I will admit that there were times where my interest would spike (but only just), the story fell flat for me.

This was greatly disappointing as I loved the setting;, a remote lodge in the wintry depths of the Scottish Highlands - perfect for a thriller.

But what I think really let the story down was the characters, for several different reasons.

The characters lacked any real depth and were all incredibly dull and predictable, especially Miranda. She was your typical "It Girl" that came across as perfect in every way but also a b*itch.

It has been done so many times.

I was thrilled to read that we had a gay couple, Nick and Bo, but was incredibly disappointed that they didn't really have anything to do with the story other than being just.. there.

I would have like if they had more of a part in the story, perhaps their characters would have been more interesting than the ones that we got.

I love thrillers but I had to force myself to push through and finish this book.

It was stupidly obviously who the victim was from the very beginning.

Though I didn't see all the twists and turns that were coming, I felt super underwhelmed with this book.

An interesting and engaging mystery. It's entertaining, if a bit predictable. If you're looking for an enjoyable mystery, then pick this one up.

This was a really good read. I was reminded of traditional crime mysteries, the closed setting, the gathering of old friends. But it felt fresh and lively. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this book. A classic whodunnit for any crime fans. The novel was fast-paced and totally 'unputdownable.'

This book had me hooked from the first chapter - a real page turner. It kept me guessing right to the end. Quite often with this genre I find things start to get a bit silly and unbelievable towards the end, but this book didn’t. A great pot full of characters who have basically grown apart from each other and only tradition holding them together. Lovely location too, I wish now I’d read it in the Winter. Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for letting me review it.

A murder mystery with a twist, and a totally gripping plot - I raced through it. A cast of characters, all with their own secrets and troubles, come together to form a brilliant whodunnit, with a whole heap of tension and stress. Totally brilliant, and I couldn't have guessed it!

I really enjoyed this book especially as I'd heard such good reviews. Good character and storyline. Would recommend.

The inspired THE HUNTING PARTY, by Lucy Foley, kept me intrigued all the way through. It’s hard to guess #whodunnit when you don’t know which character died. Clever! Set aside a day and lose yourself in this page-turner.

While I did enjoy this book I found that it had a very similar story line to her other book and as a result I found it predictable and unsuprising. If I hadn't of already read her other book I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more and found it more of a draw.

A twisty Christie style tale with a cast of deliciously awful characters, The Hunting Party follows a group of old friends who all have something to hide... but which one is a murderer?

My first book by this author and thank you to NetGalley for my copy.
The story begins with a group of friends reconvening first a weekend away in Scotland and ends with one of the party being dead. The story builds as we learn more about each of the main players, although the identity of the deceased isn’t revealed immediately.
I couldn’t put this down and would recommend.

Absolutely glued to this one and literally couldn't put it down. Loved it! I'm always almost put off by authors being compared to Agatha Christie as they NEVER live up to it, but this was almost there.

A busy guess who dunnit book filled with lots of characters.. some loveable , some not but does being loveable mean your not a killer .

A group of thirty-somethings, mostly old 'friends' from University, go to a luxurious but remote Scottish lodge to celebrate new year and remember old times.  These guys really love a party and once the booze (lots of booze) starts flowing the cracks in the friendships start to show.  Big time.  Then one of the group goes missing and is later found dead in very suspicious circumstances.

I can honestly say that I haven't read a book so full of awful, hateful characters for a very long time, if ever. In fact most of them are so dreadful in the way they behave and treat each other, and there are so many reasons for them to potentially kill one another, I began to wonder, while reading the book, if there would actually be any surviving characters by the end.

This kind of whodunit murder mystery story has been done many times before, lets be honest.  But this is a decent modern twist on the old genre and I liked its wintry Highland setting, which is very atmospheric.  I also liked that although you know early on that this is a murder mystery you don't actually find out who the victim or the killer are until a good way through the story.  Worth a read, even though the horrible characters almost made me want to commit murder ;)

I did enjoy this book, the story was very clever and kept you guessing all the way through. It told the story through several different characters, so you learned different things along the way.
