I thought this would be funny but it wasn't, at least not to me. Wasn't my thing, and I'm kind of over thinking about this man.

This is an absolutely hilarious book, though it's been a little while now since I read it. Though the message here is more about the parody, and comments on the ridiculousness of the president, it'd go well on the shelf with the John Oliver Marlon Bundo book.

We have to find something to laugh about these days, and when that's at the expense of the cheeto-coloured man, it makes the whole world feel a little less hopeless.

I'll definitely be seeking out a physical copy of this book..

I read this amusing parody of "Harold of the Purple Crayon". "Donald and the Golden Crayon" by P. Shauers will delight any anti-Trump reader. This is an extremely short yet delightful tale of how Trump builds his golden wall and still isn't happy, while poking delightful fun at Donald Trump USA President.

Donald and the Golden Crayon offered humor, adult-political humor whether you are a Democrat or a .Republican, enjoyment of the sketches and words used will occur. They are all based on Trump’s simplified vocabulary, such as “ Russia is good, and Mexico and Hurricanes are bad.” Simple language for a simple President making this even funnier.

Thank for the the great laughs in that I did receive a copy of Donald and the Golden Crayon, in exchange for an honest review.

In the humor category, I'd name this book the hit of 2018. A well-done parody "starring" Donald Trump's, it captured a great deal of the ridiculousness and poor examples we have witnessed over the year. The nod to an iconic symbol at the end was priceless!

So the name is what drew me in. This was great! I thought it was funny. It may not be for everyone but I liked it.

Donald and the Golden Crayon is a parody of the children's book Harold and the Purple Crayon (which as a day care teacher I have probably read 100's of times). I did not find it particularly funny or amusing. If you watch enough parodies on TV, which are often funny and incisive, this just doesn’t doesn't even rise to the bar of being a bit humorous. It just kinda hurts and it didn’t take the sting away by taking by giving me some good laughs.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to write this review for an honest opinion.

I could not stop laughing while reading this one. The story and illustrations are a perfect parody of the children's book. This is a great gift for anyone with liberal leanings, but I wouldn't suggest giving it to anyone you know or love who likes Trump. Unless you want to end a relationship!

Parody that will amuse, familiar lines and scenes from American politics make it a funny stocking filler.

Not a children's book! Using Harold and the Purple Crayon as its template, it is now a besuited Donald that uses a golden crayon to draw a golf course, a wall, and goes on a journey around the world allowing infamous lines from the presidency to be included.

Fans of Trump will not be amused. While I found it funny, it is really a one-trick pony. There are constant references to Trumpisms, policy decisions, his own history. My favourite moment took a dig that is rather childish ("moments later" - you'll get it once you've read the book).

This is a stocking filler that you'll read once and laugh at (if you are not a supporter), then probably shelve. Well-produced and illustrated, could do well with the Christmas market.

With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample reading copy.

Very funny parody of Harold and the Purple Crayon! Must have followed politically news closely to understand some of the jokes, but anyone who lives in America, no matter what their political beliefs, will chuckle at this one!

HIlarious! I had forgotten about some of the things that Donald has said over the past 24 months. While I am sad that Harold and his purple crayon had to be used in such a manner, it is still humorous to read about Donald's gold crayon. Satire is a lost art, but this book nailed it.

This should be in every adult’s Christmas stocking. What a hilarious satirical look into the daily life of Trump. It’s humour is only increased by considering that this is the sort of fantasy the man lives in.
The story hits all the best slips of Trump’s from the year and illustrates it perfectly.

This parody is based on Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson, a children's book for ages 3 and up.

In the story, Harold has a magic crayon that can create things in the real world. One night, Harold takes a walk and draws up a forest, a dragon, an ocean, a sailboat, a picnic, a hot-air balloon, a city, and more. Finally, Harold draws his own bed and goes to sleep. It's a charming and popular children's book.

*****

In "Donald and the Golden Crayon", President Trump has a magic crayon, and uses it to draw things that are important to him.

Among other things, Donald draws the best golf course ever; a wall to keep out people from shithole countries; a 'yuge'crowd of people that love him; a pipeline through the shithole reservation inhabited by Native Americans; a 'yuge' parade of soldiers he likes because they weren't captured; his own cozy room with a door that reads "Stable Genius"; and so on. (See the sample pages below.)

Like the Donald in real life, the Donald in the book is a xenophobic blowhard who's misogynistic; indifferent to the environment; enthralled with his golden shower (wink wink); infuriated by fake news; loyal to supporters who spout hate; unsympathetic to hurricane victims; clueless about healthcare; an avid Tweeter; and fond of the word Covfefe (a famous typo from one of Trump's tweets).

The book is very funny and portrays the President's personality in a nutshell, but it's definitely not for kids. I think the book would probably make an amusing gift for the right person. 😁

Thanks to Netgalley, the author (P. Shauers), and the publisher (Schiffer Publishing) for a copy of the book.

I had a great time reading an ARC of this story, sent to me by NetGalley and the publisher. The illustrations were amusing, but some of Donald's antics are missing from the book (who could record them all into one book, anyways, when there are new antics so often??) The only reason why I'm giving this book 4 stars, rather than 5, is because I would love for there to be a sequel!

A parodic book for adults, conveying the life of the golden Trump (yes, even his showers are golden - …) and what he dreams up one night. It's the type of gift book that will be read once and shelved or that you'll pass on and never remember to ask for back, but it's a decent one of its kind. It carries the style of a young reader very well, and I've seen allegedly smart books against Trump be a lot more haranguing and unsubtle than this. Good design, and of course good points well made. (I don't know what it's spoofing, so can't judge that detail.) Three and a half stars.

Clever, clever, clever! This adult satire of the children's book Harold and the Purple Crayon scathingly "uses the best words" and illustrations to portray Donald and his Golden Crayon. Close examination of the book show several inside jokes and a twist at the end that would be appreciated by viewers of Citizen Kane. I received a free electronic ARC of the book from NetGalley but I am sure it would be even more charming in print.

Kind of a take off on the children's book "Harold and The Purple Crayon"..... but this isn't a children's book! It has some real good drawings/artwork (mainly using only 2 colors...yellow & black), poking humor at some serious issues re the Trump presidency. It's written in the manner/way that Trump talks...over the top boasting, simple & repetitive, swear words, derogatory towards others......again...nothing in here for kids! I enjoyed it.....I guess as much as someone can enjoy something so serious..... I thought it really well put together!
I received this e-ARC from Schiffer Publishing & NetGalley, in return for posting my own fair & honest review. These opinions are my own.

Covfefe!

** Trigger warning for references to sexual assault. **

A send-up of the popular children’s book HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON, DONALD AND THE GOLDEN CRAYON features 45 doing what he does best: insulting people of color, celebrating misogyny, building walls, destroying the environment, bagging on the troops, bragging, and just generally winning. (SO MUCH WINNING!) With his magical golden crayon, 45 traverses the country, scribbling on all the things. The United States will never look the same (sob).

DONALD AND THE GOLDEN CRAYON is part of a growing list of parody books about our current political climate that would be funny … if it wasn’t so darn depressing. Like, I appreciate what Shauers has done here, but parts of the book just make me want to cry. I do hope he sends a copy to Drumpf though, that would be yuge.

Normally I would not recommend “children’s books for adults” to actual children – and there is some harsh stuff here, from a “Grab ’em by the Pussy!” protest sign to an allusion to the alleged sex tape – but, idk, probably they’ve heard all this and worse on the news. If anything, DONALD AND THE GOLDEN CRAYON could provide an opportunity to explain to kids why 45 is the worst. But, you know, be your own decider person.

Written in the style of Harold and the Purple Crayon, this parody makes fun of some of the things 45 has said and done. This time when you shake your head over them, at least you’ll get a good chuckle.

What fun! One of my all time favorite children's classic 'Harold and the Purple Crayon' by Crockett Johnson was the model/inspiration and, of course, that orange guy, 45. Told as the Don would tell it-- his attempt at language, that is; this takes us on a journey with 'winner'. Very humorous and cleverly put together with perfect illustrations. Liberals and intelligent people will love this.. MAGA fanatics? ... Not so much.

This book is NOT for children!

I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
