This was a perfect "read by the pool" summer novel that made me want to hop on the next flight to France and find an abandoned chateau. It was easy to read with a fun storyline and while I didn't feel like I fully connected with the characters, I found myself smiling and rooting for them throughout. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

I've had this book for years, I still haven't, unfortunately, got to it, so this is a placeholder review to reduce my shelf for my own sanity, but will replace this if I ever get to the book

Totally unbelievable story but fun and easy to read by the side of a pool without too much thinking.

This was such a lovely sweet story. I found myself constantly smiling whilst reading this. Warm hearted book that makes you want to up sticks and move to France. A nice set of characters but didn’t really get underneath their motivations enough. Could have done with more insights into them but all in all a cozy read.

I'm not entirely sure why, but i found this so hard to read - not because it was such a difficult storyline, but just very very dull. I got to the end and basically said aloud 'oh is that it?'. Eh.

Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It's a fun and easy to read romantic comedy.

Flick has had a run of bad luck and her Mom suprises her with a trip to France. When she gets there her Mom tells her that she owns the Chateau. Flick needs to decide where she wants to live and get over her broken heart. The characters are fun and the book makes living in the French countryside sound idyllic.

Loved this book!! Very enjoyable, and easy to read, especially over the 'Christmas' period, even though it's not Christmas based!! An unusual story, but could happen to anyone!! Brilliantly written, and very funny in places!!

I loved this book, firstly because it is set in France, my favorite place in the world, and secondly the story flows from the start, it is based on a girl called Fritz whose fiance leaves her hours before she is due to get married. her Mother Brenda brings her to stay in a Chateau in France and a new chapter in her life begins to unfold, a lovely story, I would definitely read more from this Author as I really enjoy her style of writing.

Schwungvolles Buch voller romance und Lacher - ein echter feel-good-Schmöker. Sehr kurzweilig und unterhaltsam, allerdings eher leichte Kost. Braucht man aber auch zwischendurch.

After getting dumped by her husband on her wedding day, Felicity has become a bit of a recluse. Her mother, Brenda believes a change of scenery would do her daughter good and takes her daughter on a mother/daughter surprise trip to France. When they get there, Brenda takes her daughter to a chateau in Brittany that Felicity’s late father had planned to give her as a wedding present.

The chateau is a bit of a rundown and in need of a facelift. Felicity has to decide whether she wants to keep the Chateau and stay in France or put it on the market and move back to England. While in France, Felicity and her mother make friends with people of the town. She also meets Nate, her taciturn neighbour, who seems a bit distant with an air of mystery that surrounds him.

The French Escape was a quick and enjoyable read. The characters are likeable and I thought the story flowed well. Set against the autumnal backdrop of rural France, I loved the descriptions of the gorgeous scenery and food. I would recommend to anyone looking for a perfect holiday companion.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloodhound books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Full on, feel good chick lit set in the beautiful French countryside. Very readable and difficult not to like with engaging characters and scenery. An enjoyable, escapist read.

It’s fair to say that Flick has had a terrible year. Her beloved father died, she had the wedding of her dreams and only hours after the ceremony her husband ran out on her.

Brenda, fed up of her daughter living like a hermit, decides to drag Flick off to France to stay in a chateau. What could be better than an idyllic escape?

But when they arrive Flick discovers the chateau is all but abandoned.

The only upside of her French escape is the handsome and mysterious neighbour, Nate.
Nate loves his life living in the cottage on the grounds of the abandoned chateau but that is about to be put in jeopardy...

Can Nate and Flick ever learn to come to terms with the past and find love again?

The French Escape is a heart-warming, happy ever after, love story. Follow Flick and Nate’s laugh out loud and emotional journey as they negotiate matters of the heart and learn to trust again.

Read this book in one sitting. Loved it. 4.5*

I really enjoyed this little escape into France. The main characters, Flick and Nate, were very well written and easily likable to the reader. I enjoyed following their journey and overcoming the obstacles from their past and present. I will definitely be checking out what other books this author writes.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided by NetGalley.

This was such a lovely sweet story. I found myself constantly smiling whilst reading this.

Flick and her mum go on holiday to France to escape Flick's sham of a marriage but it turns out the chateau they run to now belongs to Flick and she has to decide sell it and return home or make it her new home.

I instantly liked Flick. Despite being maybe a little naïve, she seems to think practically and seems honest and genuine. From the moment she meets Nate you can see there is a connection and what the outcome will be but there was also a constant underlying of secrets that needed to be released and throughout the story little snippets are discovered until eventually the whole secret is exposed.

I found myself struggling to put this down and lucky for me it is a quite short for a novel and I finished in just 2 days. Saying that short does not take anything away from this story, it has everything you could possibly need, princess castles, boy and girl romance as well as a devious mum. I closed the book wanting to go and spend a week or more in Flick's chateau.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would recommend someone just wanting a quick, light hearted book to lose themselves in for a few hours.

You know when you get something perfect for that moment? All cute and eye catchy that just calls you to grab it and hide it in the closet from everyone and read and read until you finish it? And just when you open the covers you get swayed by the story too! That was the case with me when I've got this book... I stayed late in the night until I finished it and almost overslept for work. Setting, storyline, characters...everything is magnifique!

As summer is well and truly on its way out I was looking for a story that would whisk me away and The French Escape was exactly what I was looking for!

The story moves at a lovely pace and was a delight to read as secrets come to light along the way to keep things interesting. I enjoyed seeing Flick begin to heal after a very turbulent time back home and then seeing her connection with Nate begin to grow was extra special.

There are plenty of quirky and loveable characters along with a setting that will leave you dreaming of your own French escape! I loved the friendships that were formed and of course a wonderful hint of romance too. With new beginnings a big theme I was hoping for a happy ever after for the characters.

The French Escape is a wonderful easy going and light hearted story with a beautiful charm that will leave you smiling!
