I read this book at the time it was granted to me and completely forgot to give feedback. Cathy Bramley is an author I have loved for years, and, like her other books, A Gift From The Comfort Food Café fills me with the ease and happiness I have learned to expect!

Brilliant book. This would have normally taken me 3 days but under my current situation took me a week. I really enjoyed it.
The setting of these books are sublime and you can taste the cakes.. yummy
Katie has moved house in Bidbiry from her abusive boyfriend and brings her son up alone. She grew up yo the worst fights by her parents so wants to bring Saul up in a happy home...
Her parents turn up and go back to cat fights in front of her and Saul and she doesn't know what to do on Xmas eve. ....
There's only one so he man, Van and she isn't Interested. Then one night she meets him for a quick drink and one thing leads to another but it doesn't turn out th way they wanted.
That one Xmas eve, Van arrives to take her and Saul on a Santa hunt to save her from her parents. What's not to love...
Setting, romance, sweet foods. Loved it. I would always recomend Debbie johnson as an author.

I am not a newcomer to Comfort Food Cafe and I have been looking forward to reading this instalment......I have not been disappointed..

An easy seasonal read ( which can actually be enjoyed at any time of year) leaves a warm glow and promises new adventures in the future.

It was lovely to meet friends from the Comfort Food Cafe once more, and to focus on characters we didn't know so much about. I love the idea of finding out everyone's stories, and feeling like a real part of the community. Katie has an interesting background with her warring parents and all she wants is peace with her three year old son, who is a lovely wee character. Katie tends to run away from problems and she now has to fight the urge to present a stable, happy life in the community for her son. A lovely read.

My thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for a copy of This book for an honest review.
For the last couple of years Debbie Johnson has been at the top of my Christmas reading list , so I was keeping “A gift from the Comfort Food Cafe “ for this years seasonal read.
After one of those years where life keeps throwing things at you , I was in need of a little cheering up ,so I decided to read the book early.
It didn’t disappoint! Having read previous Comfort Food cafe books it felt like going home. Set in a part of the country that I love , if only I could find such a caring , supportive community to live in .
A genuinely heartwarming book , suitable for any time of the year when you need to escape for a while..
Will be recommending

This was a nice story and it was nice to go back to the Comfort Food Cafe.

However this my favourite book of the series though, I felt there was very little romance between the two main characters. Also Annie should have stood up to her parents much sooner.

3.5 stars

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.

This is a warm and fuzzy read
This book is wonderful. It has the correct amount of tension and is cosy
The characters are quirky and interesting
This is part of a series and is best read as part of that series

I've read some of the other books in this series and enjoyed them so was looking forward to this one. I'm pleased to say it didn"t disappoint. Lovely light hearted reading perfect for your holiday or a relaxing Sunday afternoon! I will be looking to catch up on other books in this series (which in turn focus on specific characters so you get to learn more about each person and their lives in more detail). Recommended!

Another fabulous instalment in the comfort cafe series. I love a Debbie Johnson book, they are a breath of fresh air on a stuffy day, great fun, heartwarming and entertaining read. The characters make you laugh, smile and melt. A great series and another great book.

Another enjoyable visit to Budbury and its community. I really enjoy this series and revisiting old friends. This story focuses on Kate and her young son Saul. We learn how she escaped both a traumatic childhood and a failed relationship and learns to find herself and her confidence when she escapes to the Budbury community.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for an ARC , a comfortable book that I read well into the night. Every time I read an installment of the Comfort series I feel a desire to revisit the ones that I have already read to remind myself of the backgrounds of the other characters in the story.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a perfect festive romance which I read in one sitting. Centred around the Comfort Food Cafe and the community of Budbury, this book has several storylines running side by side. It's a cosy, feel-good book but it doesn't give the characters an easy ride throughout; there's some angst along the way.

This would work well as a standalone, there are appearances by characters from previous Comfort Food Cafe books but it is easy to follow without knowing their backstory

A Heart warming & delightful Book to read.
This story is full of lots of amazing colourful characters with lots of mixed up emotions & complexities in their past & every day lives. The one who shines out the most of them all is Katie's three year old son Saul.
An emotional journey through lots of life's complexities many of which a lot of it's readers will be able to relate too, but on the whole a truly delightful slice of life , which I will recommend to many family members & friends too.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this series.

I may not remember much when it comes to the narration in the previous ones, but I think this might have been the best. We have Katie as our lead protagonist in this installment, and she has had a hard childhood. It has molded her into a very introverted person prone to speculation of her own self-worth. She is a little better with the healing comforts of the Comfort Food Cafe but this story is when she finally breaks out of her shell. It does not happen until the end of the tale, but the inevitable is still fun to watch unfold. The people are unique even though the end result of people helping each other to rise above their old selves may not exactly be. Saul, Katie's son provided the lighter laughs with his childish glee and those typical mispronunciations of basic words. Overall, is better to go into this story with prior knowledge of all the members of this assorted strange family but even without it, you can enjoy Katie's story for what it is.

I must mention again that the writing and conversations are well done and are a treat to read.

This was another perfect book revisiting the sleepy village of Budbury. This story focuses on the story of Kate and her young son Saul, we learn about the traumatic childhood Kate endured and how she’s escaped an awful relationship. We also see romance blossoming and a side story featuring Kate’s dad which features a brilliant twist.
An excellent book, easy read, perfect for reading in bed at night!

Katie Seddon's life has been far from idyllic. Growing up in a troubled home, she had her beloved Nan to turn to until she passed away. As her own life starts to follow a familiar path, she takes her son and starts afresh on the Dorset coast. As Christmas approaches, Katie starts to feel overwhelmed with life. I devoured this in two afternoons following a couple of heavy reads. It was just what I needed, light, easy reading. I've read previous Debbie Johnson novels and they always leave me feeling comforted too. I little weekend away in Budbury would be lovely!

It has taken me a while to read this book because I already had some of the books in the series, so decided to read them all so I was all caught up on people and events at the charming cafe by the sea which heals hearts and builds castle strong friendships to all who enter its doors. It turns out I managed to read the last two books, including the one in this review, in the wrong order, but that didn't matter.

It's the kind of series that you won't want to end - there's another book that's come out this year, alhough I haven't read it yet. Each book takes on a different character as the protagonist, leading me to learn more about their personality and lives that I'd often glimpsed at in previous books. I can't pick a favourite character because they are all fun!

Cherie and Laura's meddling magic works it way on Katie who is understandably protective of her young son Saul, and sometimes reluctant to join in the craziness of the cafe community. She learns a big lesson of letting people into her life, taking chances in love which she has avoided for a while, but romance comes knocking and not even she can avoid it, any more than she can avoid the yummy food the cafe workers cook up for her.

Saul is a cute boy, he has much fun with a cafe customer who has dementia and another one who is in her 9th decade, which gives Katie a break and a chance to figure out what she wants in life. She also has to deal with her parents, whose issues cause her to make a momentous life decision which puts much happiness in her future.

A Gift from the Comfort Food Cafe is a gorgeous heartwarming tale. We’re back with some of the old loveable characters and a few new ones too. Christmas, cake and camper vans, it’s the perfect festive read that can be enjoyed any time of the year. Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins UK and the author for the chance to review.
