Another glorious hug in a book from Lucinda Riley.

I have so enjoyed all of Lucinda Riley’s books and could not wait to read the latest book of the D’apliese sisters. This time the turn of Tiggy who sets off on her travels to unravel the history of her Spanish roots.

By now readers of this series will be familiar with the formula of these books and this feels, to me, like comfort food. You know you are in safe hands as the characters are resplendent on the page and the scenery sufficient to transport you through time and place.

As Tiggy starts her journey in the Scottish highlands and travels to Granada we get to learn about her story and that of her famous grandmother. With this we learn about the customs and practices of Spanish gypsies, including flamenco, music, spiritual healing and the bonds of family and the wider community.

I can’t wait for the next outing and the story of Electra. This is a series I wish I hadn’t discovered yet so I could read it all anew in one fell swoop.

My only criticism is the fact that the books are obviously released a year or so apart and I sometimes forget the key facets of the stories as told by the other sisters. I hope the last book brings some of these strands together. I will miss these characters once this series is finished.

This is the fifth book in the Seven Sisters Series by Lucinda Riley. This could be read as a stand alone book but to be best appreciated I suggest that the reader starts with The Seven Sisters and progresses through the series.

In this book we follow Tiggy the fifth sister. A nature loving & slightly mystical person she lives in the wilds of Scotland at an animal sanctuary. Her past story takes us to the Gypsy colony near Alhambra in the early to mid twentieth century. We follow La Candela as she becomes the finest flamenco dancer in the world and the toll the Spanish Civil War takes on Spain.

I have read all of the Seven Sisters books and was starting to wonder if the quality was starting to tail off. It is hard to sustain a long series and I wondered at a couple of points in the last three books if the writing got a bit lazy in places. However, this book takes us right back to the excellent writing of the first book. Yes, there are a few expected situations such as a love affair which Tiggy runs away from. However, overall the writing is bright and the plot well constructed.

I really loved the story of La Candela. The story of the gypsies and the discrimination they faced was fascinating. Coupled in with that were the details of the Spanish Civil war which I found gripping.

This is a well constructed continuation of the series. I am very much looking forward to Electra's story which should be the sixth & what the author has planned for the seventh I can't wait to see. An excellent series which I can heartily recommend.

I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley

I have eagerly anticipated the release of this book since finishing The pearl Sister and I was not disappointed. The story of each of the different girls adopted by Pa Salt, his mysterious death and their subsequent search for their birth heritage has been filled with drama, passion and intrigue. This book explores the story of Taygete, otherwise known as Tiggy takes the reader to pre-civil war Spain and is full of drama and passion. I did think that how the problem of Fraser was ‘dealt with’ was a little weak and subsequently unbelievable but it didn’t detract from the story. Huge thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is one of my favourite series ever and so I couldn't wait to start reading this installment, although I must admit I was slightly wary as this book is about Tiggy who works as a wildlife consultant, so there are quite a few animals around which I'm not good with - well if anything happens to them anyway! So for people like me it was 95% OK, with just a bit of a blip halfway through (sad) and at the end (sad and happy), without giving anything major away!

Apart from that the story was just like the others in this wonderful series and immediately drew you in from the very beginning - this time we were transported to the wilds of Scotland and the gypsies in Grenada in Spain.

Tiggy initially starts working on the Kinnaird estate in Scotland when a sanctuary she is working at closes down. There she meets an elderly man who lives on the estate called Chilly, who it turns out had been told she would arrive one day and has a spiritual gift, just as Tiggy has. We also find out a little bit more about Chilly as the story is told and we go back in time to meet Tiggy's gypsy relatives.

The story flicks back and forth between Tiggy in the present day in Scotland and in the past with her relatives in Grenada and the gypsies of Sacromonte in 1930s Spain, where they all lived in caves they made into homes, and also involves the war in Europe when people were fleeing the country, and it was all just so fascinating. I just get so immersed in these stories that even though each book is usually the longest book I read all year they don't feel like that and you just don't want them to end.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do after this series does end as each book is the highlight of my year. I am so excited for the next book now, the 6th one, even if I have to wait a year, because it's the last of the sisters, Electra, who I don't really know a lot about - but there's '7 Sisters' so will there be a 7th book and if so what/who is it going to be about, and will the mystery of Pa Salt be revealed? Another little mystery about him towards the end of this one too with a secret in the cellar! So many questions to be resolved - can't wait!

The fifth book in the series and honestly they get better and better.
Six sisters adopted as children by very wealthy Pa Salt, are given clues to their birth heritage on the death of Pa.
Tiggy has always been delicate, spending much of her childhood in bed where her vivid imagination and connection to the natural and spiritual world was allowed to grow. Tiggy has a natural affinity with animals, and works as a wildlife conservationist in Scotland. After the death of her adopted father, she learns of the gypsy heritage and famous grandmother Lucia.
The two narratives, Tiggy in 2017 and Lucia’s life alternate and weave a compelling story. The characters are so well constructed that they become real and the reader is drawn into their lives.
I love this series and wait with anticipation for the next instalment.

I have been a massive fan of Lucinda Riley since reading the first book in the Seven Sisters series. Each sisters story is unique and special. The Moon Sister is Tiggys story,a gentle soul, whose story starts in snowy Scotland, and progresses to sunny Spain. The story of her ancestors was captivating, filled with flamenco, passion, sadness and strength, and as always with all the Seven Sisters stories, love. I really did not want to get to the end of this book,I would highly recommend it. Thank you so much Lucinda Riley for the precious gift you have and share through your wonderful stories. Thank you to your publishers and netgalley for the opportunity to read this amazing book.

I absolutely loved this book! Have enjoyed all previous sisters stories and this one was just as good. Loved learning Tiggys history and now just got to wait patiently for book 6!

This is Tiggy's story in the continuing series about seven sisters. Tiggy's life takes a turn as she finds herself babysitting wildcats in the Scottish Highlands - not entirely her dream job but it's close. However she has to deal with a tricky attraction to her employer and very much the opposite with one of the house guests.

In each of the sister's stories the narrative splits into a historical setting as they discover their relatives and how they were each adopted. Tiggy's story is no different; a trip to Spain and the story of her grandmother the flamenco dancer Lucia is gripping. Lucia is a fiery character and the reader is kept guessing how she will ever become Tiggy's grandmother.

This is an excellent series so far and Tiggy's story is a great addition to it. Well worth keeping up with the series or starting it if you're new to it.

The Moon Sister by Lucinda Riley was an excellent historical novel, the first in a series of books about six young women who had all been adopted as babies and brought up as sisters.
The girls are devastated when their father dies and they all come home for the funeral. They are all given letters written by their father with clues to their natural parents.
This fifth book in the series is about Tiggy and the story of her search to find her family. The story takes us from Geneva to Scotland and to Granada in Spain.
I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Yet another great novel from Lucinda Riley; and a brilliant next chapter in the 'Seven Sisters' series. This sister is a gentle animal-lover who does find her roots, and where she belongs. And the story ends with an introduction to the next sister who seems to be the most unsettled and disruptive; and it becomes clear that there is a mysterious thread through the series!

When I spotted this little gem had landed in my inbox it was like father Xmas had been early 🎅🏼 This book has been on my pre-ordered list since last November I think it was, what ever date it was it was a long time ago!! It still is on pre-order because as much as I love and appreciate these digital review copies I’m still dying to have the pretty hardback edition in my wee grubby little paws 🐾

Having read all of Lucinda’s books it is still this Seven Sisters series that captivate and remain dear to me the most, and for everyone who are still waiting for the 1’st Nov release day in the UK, I can wholeheartedly say it is so so so worth the wait!! And on the subject of waiting, waiting for Electra’s story (The Sun Sister maybe??) next will be an even longer wait for me having read this one early!

Tiggy, the Moon Sister, has always felt a strong connection to nature and animals and she begins her story in the beautiful surroundings of the Scottish Highlands helping care for the deers and wildlife with her elderly friend. Sadly as that door closes Tiggy is offered to travel with the Scottish wildcat’s and take a job on the Kinnaird estate overseeing the cats care and future breeding program.

As with the other sisters, Tiggy received a letter from Pa Salt with details of where she was born and how to find her birth place if she chooses to do so. Whilst she is at Kinnaird Tiggy meets an old gypsy, Chilly, who has been a resident on the lands of Kinnaird for as long as anyone can remember. And it is this meeting along with other situations that arise that give the free-spirited Tiggy the gentle push to travel to her birthplace and people in Granada Spain.

It is there she learns her story and the story of her people taking us all back through time with her to 1933 Spain and the history of the gitano people and Tiggy’s once famous flamenco dancer grandmother, Lucia.

Weaving together past and present seamlessly Tiggy comes alive on the pages and it is impossible to not feel connected to her story in some ways and even though I’ve said it about previous books in this series, Tiggy’s story will stay with me for a very long time. I will definitely be re-reading this book once I receive the hardback edition on publication day and I have no doubt in my mind that I will enjoy it as much reading it a second time.

The book leaves us with a tantalising snippet into the next sister, Electra, and how her story begins. We don’t really know much at all about Electra as the other sisters haven’t given us many clues about her but none the less I am sure her story will be as equally fascinating as her other sisters before her. And as for the last book in the series owing to the fact they don’t have a seventh sister my imagination has been running riot and with any luck Electra will be the one to unlock some of that mystery for us!

Now the long wait for book number 6 and to finally find out just who the real Electra really is!

The Moon Sister will be published on 1st Nov 18 in the UK

As I said earlier, I am extremely lucky and honoured to receive advance reader copies of books to review and would like to take this moment to say a HUGE Thank You to the authors, publishers and NetGalley for all my arc copies. They are truly appreciated 🙏🏼

Thank you to the publishers Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
