Philippa's Farm is a slow paced, wholesome book filled with beautiful nature writing. It has a slice-of-life element, where we get to see different things unfold to do with the various people that Philippa meets and interacts with. The farm life element was also done well. However, I would have wanted a bit more out of the romance plotline because based on the blurb, you’d think that the romance would play a bigger role in the story. That being said, it was still a nice, cozy read overall.

When I chose to read this I thought it would be along the lines of a historical novel. I was shocked to see how far off I was. It is however the story of a single woman who loves her farm above all. It is wholesome and filled wth daily drama from the people she calls friends.

I was drawn in by the cover and the description. I wasn't expecting a romance book, and was pleasantly surprised that even though there is a romance in the story, it wasn't a bodice ripper! More about home, family, town folks and all of there quirks and habits and how they impact on Philippa. I don't blame Philipa in the least for creating her own present and past. I sometimes did that, too when I had difficult to explain family. Simpler and far less painful to deal with them that way. I loved all the wonderful details of her life on her farm. I found the book very engrossing and enjoyed reading it. It will go on my to be read again shelf. Wonderful tale for reading on these long winter evening. I am sure it will find it's audience!

Character driven book thar wants to be quirky and interesting but falls short. Not quite sure where the author was going with the story and the ending was abrupt.

Philippa’s Farm is a humorous novel in an idyllic setting filled with fun, interesting and quirky characters and even more interesting storylines, my favorite being Agatha, Philippa’s sister and her love affair with gin.
Although Philippa, the main character, comes across as judgmental, one will warm up to her by the end of the book.

The descriptions of rural Ireland and Philippa’s farm were evocative and I was easily transported to this picturesque setting. I loved reading about her short getaway to Aran, her spinning course in Bath, and her two-week vacation in France with her friends.

There are a lot of “laugh-out-loud” scenes throughout, helping to keep the pace. The ending was a bit of a surprise and satisfying. I am looking forward to reading more by this author. Overall, an interesting read and I recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wanted to like this book because of the setting, but, sadly, the main character was so unlikable, it made the reading of it disappointing. I get that the point of the story was to deliberately present the MC in a low light so as to develop her to the point where she softened up at the end, but it felt as if the book was full of one contemptuous comment to the next. It seemed to be missing any sort of kind thought toward one's fellow man, or any sort of portrayal of any character in the book as being a lovely soul. The end was very jarring and unexpected when the relationship hadn't been very deeply developed throughout the book to lead it to such an ending.

To sum it up, the author is a good writer and the descriptions of farm life were lovely, but none of the portrayals of people were enjoyable and the ending didn't fit.
