I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I loved this book. Lucinda Riley is so good at combining fiction with non fiction!
After Pa Salt dies, his six adopted daughters all return to their childhood home, Atlantis, a beautiful castle on the shore of Lake Geneva. Each sister is handed an envelope which contained clues about their birth and background. This book is about Maia's journey. The map co ordinates and clues in Maia's envelope took her to Mexico and the search to find where she came from and, would she find any long lost family?

The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley is a sweeping, romantic saga about six adopted sisters who are each named after a star in the Pleiades constellation. The sisters are all very different, but they are brought together by the death of their beloved father, Pa Salt, who leaves them each a clue to their true origins.

The first book in the series, The Seven Sisters, follows Maia D'Aplièse as she travels to Rio de Janeiro to find her birth mother. Maia is a successful cellist, but she has always felt like an outsider. She is drawn to Rio and to the story of her great-grandmother, Izabela, who was a dancer in the Carnival. Maia's journey helps her to learn more about her own identity and to find her place in the world.

Overall, I highly recommend The Seven Sisters. It is a beautifully written and heartwarming novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Lucinda Riley is a well known author although I'd never read any of her books. This one was great and I'll definitely look to read more of the series in the future.

After a bit of a reading slump, I needed something magnificent to bring me out of it, and this I found in The Seven Sisters.

An epic tale filled with intrigue, passion and adventure, I devoured every chapter and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Simply loved this introduction to the Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. The opening book sets the scene for the series, where the six sisters come together following the death of their adopted father, Pa Salt. I love the way the scene for the series was set first and we were introduced to each of the sisters, and presumably each book will tell the story of each sister.

Once we had been introduced to the sisters, we were then told Maia’s story as she found out where she was from , more about her family and her heritage. Alongside this we also have the story of Maia’s grandmother, set at the time of the construction of the Christ the Redeemer statue.

This is a fabulous book, and I cannot wait to find out the backstories of the other sisters. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, especially if you enjoy books with dual timeline stories; it is superbly written.

Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for a review copy of the book in exchange for a fair, open and honest review.

I had never read any of the other books in this series and had decided to give this one a try. Unfortunately it was not the type of book I enjoyed and I could not complete it.

Many thanks to netgalley and Lucinda Riley for the advanced copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

I gave this book a quick try, and ultimately decided to DNF -- my tastes have changed since I requested this. Many thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy of this book!

I’m very late to the Sisters’ party as to be honest it isn’t my usual type of book. However I was gifted a copy so thought I’d see what all the hype and popularity is all about.
The Pleiades series charts the stories of six sisters following the death of their intriguing and secretive adoptive father. The first book focuses on the eldest sister, Maia, as she looks into her past and the history of her ancestors. Each consecutive title in the series centres on a different sister. I finished it despite finding it overly romantic almost to the point of cheesiness, but have to state again that romance really isn’t my genre of choice. I found I was far more interested in finding out more about Pa Salt rather than the sisters so was disappointed it didn’t feature more of him which doesn’t compel me to continue with the rest of the series.
So in summary, I can see why it’s popular, it’s just not for me.
Many thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.

This is not the kind of book that I would normally read and to be honest, I had to make myself continue to read it.

Six sisters are adopted and are left with a letter following the death of their dad which holds a clue to their true heritage.

I don't think that this really needs to be a series of books. I'm sure that one would have sufficed as I felt there was an awful lot in this book that didn't need to be. . . kind of like filler.

I don't think I'll bother with the rest of the series.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book as I strangely decided not to read the blurb before I got stuck in. I’d heard so much hype about the series in general and just thought I’d give it a try. I was so pleasantly surprised and the wonderful imagery and writing created a hybrid between historical fiction, romance and travel writing. I love the concept of the book, even if some bits are a little far fetched. However, it’s important to remember that this is a work of fiction and that it has been written for entertainment. Saying that, the amount of research and effort that had gone into understanding the “non-fiction” elements of the book did not go unnoticed and I learnt a lot about Rio and the Christ the redeemer statue throughout the story. I will definitely read the other books in the series and I look forward to seeing what happens,

I am a late discovering Lucinda Riley's Seven Sisters book series but this first book , the story of Maia has got me hooked and being late means I am looking forward to binge reading the stories of the other sisters.

You get to briefly meet each of the sisters before the story focuses on Maia and her journey as she discovers where she came from. The brief introduction to the other sisters leaves you wanting to find out more about them, also there is the mystery of who Pa Salt actually is - and the final cliff hanger at the ending of the book!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for introducing me to The Seven Sisters.

A very popular author whom I had heard so much about. A great and intriguing read if you like this sort of thing but in my view it is an unrealistic and overly long saga with massive unnecessary detail, a sort of fairy tale for adults. Some unlikeable and some idealistic characters and an overly romantic storyline which wasn't for me.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC

The seven sisters is loosely based on the mythology of the Pleiades. The story follows the life of the first adopted sister after her adoptive father dies, and her search for her history. Maia's story is set in Brazil and really brings the history of that country and its' inhabitants to life. It was a very engaging read, the moving of the narrative through three or four generations worked really well. I certainly want to read more of the series

This was another @netgalley read.

Totally different to what I usually read but I'd heard so much about this series I was intrigued.

This is the story of Maia & how after her Father passes she embarks on a journey to find out about her true heritage. The story goes back to tell the stories of her Great Grandmother & is full of both love & loss.

I was frustrated that this took me so long to read but that was purely down to me not reading much this month & not because of the book itself!

I really enjoyed this & will definitely read the rest of the series at some stage, I think as it goes back & forth a lot it would be a great holiday read - when you can just sit & read all day!

What a brilliant book - I loved it. So different to anything I’ve read- sisters all adopted by Pa Salt- a wealthy business man. The girls were brought up beside Lake Geneva and were named after the famous mythological star constellation. The eldest girl Maia eventually decides to try and trace her biological family- a fascinating journey. Can’t wait to read Lucinda’s other novels about Maia’s Sisters.

Many Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book before being published in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a bit long and I didn´t have an idea that it was part of a 7 books series.
The book starts with the brief story of 6 sisters, all adopted by the same man. A mysterious man that before half of the book is dead. He leaves behind everything sorted for the daughters and letters and clues in case each of them wants to find out where they came from.
This first book is about the first daughter, Maia, who is very beautiful, and an interpreter/translator and she lived in a house just next door to her dad, so they were very close. When she´s ready she reads the letter and with a few clues given by her dad´s solicitor she starts her search in Brazil, where through a series of letters given to her, she discovers not only where she came from but a really romantic and painful life of her ancestors.
It is a very romantic book with lots of interesting bits and pieces of Brazil history!
I will probably carry-on reading book number 2 in the nearest future.

This series was recommended to me some years ago by a friend, Not normally my type of thing, I enjoyed reading this. Not sure that I would read any more of them though.

I realise that I am a bit late to this party, but am so glad to have been invited. What a great start to this series of books and there are lots of them. I can’t wait to read more of their stories but learning all about Maia and Brazil in the late 1920’s was a great start.

This isn't a small book at 600+ pages but it is a very quick read. The story is totally immersive & I found myself saying 'just one more chapter' over & over. I was expecting this to be a fairly typical love story wrapped in a family mystery & although there are elements of that it doesn't take over & there are twists & turns that make this so much more. The historical element of the novel is fascinating as so much of it is true with some of the characters based on the real people involved, I ended up googling elements & went off down a rabbithole.

This is another dual timeline novel (they appear to be featuring in my reading a lot lately & I have really come to love them) focusing on Maia, Pa Salt's first adopted daughter, & her exploration in to her past. The descriptions really take you on a journey along with the characters & it is very easy to visualise the story as it unfolds & I found myself in tears at one point.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
