This was frustrating. I liked the book enough to want to read the next one but for me this book focused on all the things in the admittedly brilliantly built world, that I just didn’t really care about. I disliked Merik and found his arc dull and predictable. I just didn’t want to read another off the peg romance. I wanted more of Safi and Iseult’s friendship and less side lining of genuinely interesting characters like Vivia. I can see how this would be exactly what some other readers would want but it wasn’t what I wanted. I’m a bit peeved that a series billing itself as different and all about female friendship is relentlessly treading the oft trod path of previous fantasy books without deviating from it much at all. And yet I really do like the world and the characters – I just want the stories to focus on what I want! Lol. I would like to read the next book when it’s available though.

This is a great sequel however i didn't enjoy it as much as i did Truthwitch.
I found that there were too many POVs which gave the book a very stop start sort of feel and left me feeling as though not enough happened in their individual stories.
That being said there was a lot more character development in this story that I really appreciated, especially Aeduan's. The introduction of new characters added a new layer to this ever increasing world and i really enjoyed getting to experience more of Nubrevna and some of the other countries.

The writing style makes it easy to read this book quickly and i really enjoyed doing so.
