I love Jenna Hart and her Cookbook Nook. What a fun place, based on descriptions throughout the series! The California coast manages to be quite Christmas-y, with a visitor to town killed and Jenna's father's friend a suspect. Definitely a fun holiday mystery.

Wreath Between the Lines is the seventh book in the Cookbook Nook Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber. I think this is one instance where starting this late in the game may have been a negative. I have loved Ms. Gerber’s writing in the past… and don’t get me wrong…. I enjoyed this book, but I felt like I was missing something.

We begin the tale with Jenna Hart driving around to various neighbourhoods (five to be exact) looking at the houses decorated for Christmas – with her ginger cat – Tigger sitting in her lap. Now that would definitely be a feat in my world as my cat is totally frightened of riding in a car and would not wait patiently looking out the window. But, this is fiction and I love that Jenna takes her cat out to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas (after all – during this hour long ride Christmas music is playing on the radio).

Jenna co-owns a culinary bookstore with her aunt, called the Cookbook Nook. I thought it quite clever that Ms. Gerber introduced real book titles and authors well known to the cozy mystery genre.

All is well in Crystal Cove as its residents are preparing for the annual Crystal Cove Christmas Festival (this years theme is…wreaths). Loved the descriptions of the unique wreaths displayed at each of the individual shops in Fisherman’s Village (including the Cookbook Nook).

Before long, there is a murder victim, who is trussed up in Christmas lights and impaled by a tree star. As usual with cozy mysteries, the protagonist (Jenna) works through all the potential suspects (and a couple I did not even anticipate). The story was easy to read and follow, except I did find maybe one or two too many sub story lines so that while it did fuse together in the end, it did seem a bit much. A few twists and red herrings to make it interesting. Guessing whodunit was not too difficult, though the motive was, especially when there were so many suspects to choose from (some with possibly stronger motives?).

I quite enjoyed the cover art. Very eye catching with lots of detail to look over.

I will rectify my slight feelings of discontent by going back and starting the series from book one and when I get to book seven – I may well re-read it the title again ☺

A Festive Addition....
A Cookbook Nook mystery and a festive addition to the series when Jenna is called upon to investigate a murder at Christmastime. Entertaining cosy mystery with a colourful cast and backdrop with a finale of festive holiday recipes.

Wreath Between the Lines, book 7 of the A Cookbook Nook by Daryl Wood Gerber has all the elements of a whodunit with an additional component – Christmas. Not the first Christmas mystery on the bookshelf (there are lots), “Wreath Between the Lines” stands out because of its lighthearted approach.

Don’t expect Jack Ryan or Columbo, expect Jessica Fletcher. If you love the long running series “Murder She Wrote” (it ran for 12 years), then you will definitely enjoy “Wreath Between the Lines.”

This was a fun, cute cozy mystery! I love the theme throughout, and I will definitely be continuing with the series.

This was the first book in the series that I have read. Personally, it just didn't wow me. It was enjoyable but the story, plot, and characters just didn't connect with me. It could be because I haven't followed them since the beginning or because I don't have all the back stories. I do have the first book of the series in my TBR list so I will probably still read it.

It was an ok book for me. The story was a tad slow and I didn't really get into any of the characters.

I enjoy cozy mysteries and "Wreath Between the Lines" didn't disappoint. The characters are enjoyable and the story line was easy to follow. This is a fun read and will definitely featured in the future at my library!

It's time for a Christmas visit to Crystal Cove! And Jenna and Crystal Cove go all out for the holidays. We also get to meet more of Jenna's family, as her sister and her family are in town for a singing competition.

Between the holiday hustle and bustle, family issues and of course, a murder, there's a lot going on in this book. It's not the strongest mystery, but it was a fun book anyway and a nice quick read.

Another excellent edition to a wonderful series! Full of twists and turns that leaves you wanting more and enjoying each moment until the end when the killer is caught.

Yet another wonderful installment to the Cook Book Nook series by Daryl Wood Gerber. All our favorites are back as Jenna once again has to solve another murder case. The plot is so well rounded as includes all the twists and turns to make this an enjoyable murder mystery read!

This is the 7th in this particular series, but one which I'd like to go back to the beginning with. Jenna and her friends and family at the Cookbook Nook are preparing for the holidays, bringing in all kinds of goodies for the shop. Jenna's neighbour Jake has an old friend visiting, and one evening Jake discovers his friend dead, stabbed with a shiny gold star tree decoration.

Jenna wonders if someone mistook him for Jake. When Jake & her friend Belinda's husband, Tito, are poisoned at a Christmas party, she's convinced someone is after Jake. She isn't, however, convinced it is Jake's crotchety neighbour, Emmett, a man who puts the 'bah' into 'humbug'.

With the help of her friends and visiting family, she sets out to discover who wants Jake dead, and why.

A cosy mystery depends heavily on its characters, so I was pleased that these were all so well rounded. Despite it being well into the series, I didn't find it that difficult to figure out who was who and how they were all related to one another. The dialogue flowed well, and the story was easy to follow, with a good mystery. I had vague suspicions of the murderer, but didn't really guess who or why until Jenna did.

An excellent read and it kept my attention from beginning to end.

Not for me. My first in this series, so I was missing the back story, but I didn’t like the characters, the mystery wasn’t great (the culprit was incredibly obvious) and the dialogue was terrible. Hey ho.

I've stated many times in the past that I love the work of Daryl Wood Gerber no matter what pen name she writes under. This, however, was my first time reading anything from her Cookbook Nook series and I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I wasn't just jumping into the series a few books in, this book is number 7 in the series. So, how does that play out as an intro to the series? Surprisingly well, actually. There wasn't a bunch of introductions to people with spoiler-ish mentions of how they came to be in the main character's (Jenna Hart) life. I could just as easily have been reading the very first book in the series the way everything was written. Even still, the world was fabulously written and well-developed. The characters were realistic and situations made for believable character development. All in all, I have to say that this was definitely a series that I'm glad to finally find myself involved in.

This holiday addition to the Cookbook Nook series is filled with the holiday spirit, good and bad. There are elf-like characters and Grinches too! The mystery of who used strangled Geoffrey with Christmas lights and impaled him with a tree topper, makes one wonder how safe are Christmas decorations. But the characters and story were woven together with the holiday magnificently!

The seventh book in the Cookbook Nook Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber is Wreath Between the Lines. Jenna and the staff of the Cookbook Nook are in full holiday mode. A neighbor and family friend Jake returns home to find his friend murdered. When Jake is poisoned, Jenna begins to suspect he was the original target. She is determined to find the killer before Jake falls victim. The characters and setting in this series are wonderful. It has just a touch of romance as well as a couple of side stories. The mystery was strong and worked well with everything else.

This book was such a great cozy read for the holiday season! This year I started to branch out and read some mysteries and so I gave this one a try. It was fantastic! I have never read any of the other books from this series but immediately liked the main character, Jenna, and loved the plot and setting. Once the story got going, I really had a lot of fun falling into this story. The murder plot itself kept me guessing and added a lot of twists that kept me reading. I will definitely have to read more of this series!

this is a good cozy mystery. it is set in a small town where the characters will seem familiar and will become friends. I love the Christmas themes and reading the included recipes. I felt the dual plot lines were a tad too much but overall I like this book. Thank you netgalley for the arc un exchange fir thus my honest opinion
