A warm, funny, lighthearted read. Fiona’s books never fail to entertain me and was just the tonic I needed after a stressful few weeks at work.

I think empty nesters will emphasise with Nadia’s character.

Thank you to the author, Avon Books and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review.

Enjoyed this book although do feel it dragged out a bit at some parts & not as funny as previous books I’ve read by this author.

I’m a big fan of Fiona Gibson’s work - generally contain some good laughs and easy to read. This one was no different. Highly recommended for a gentle, fun read.

This was a really cute, funny and lighthearted read! Perfect for a couple of chapters here and there in between Christmas cooking and celebrations!

Nadia is a single mum whose twins have just moved out of home to university. She finds herself enjoying her freedom and meets single dad Jack. The two really hit it off and are both the happiest they’ve been in a long time. Then her son Alfie turns up unexpected, having dropped out of university and heartbroken. Suddenly Nadia is looking after a teenager again, and she and Jack find themselves with less time for each other.

This was a really heartwarming and easy read, with some funny moments. I wouldn’t mind reading some more of Fiona Gibson’s work!

In "The Mum Who Got Her Life Back," single mum Nadia is on her own for the first time in nearly two decades. Soon after sending her twins, Alfie and Molly, off to university, Nadia meets single dad Jack. As their relationship progresses, and she begins to reclaim her time and space, Nadia realizes she's become a "HEN: a Happy Empty Nester." Just as she begins to embrace her new-found freedom and care for herself, however, Alfie makes a decision that threatens both Nadia's empty nest and her relationship with Jack.
Parts of the story are somewhat humorous, and as the mom of teens, I related to some of Nadia's internal dialogue on parenting, but I felt the Goodreads description, "...gloriously funny and uplifting..." was a stretch. While the characters are all quite likable, they lack depth and I finished the book without knowing them.
This is a fast, easy read and if you're looking for some light entertainment requiring little thought, this book is for you.

The story follows Nadia, whose twins Molly and Alfie have just left for university. Without the twins at home she is able to do whatever she likes, when she likes. When she meets new boyfriend Jack, life just seems to get better and better.

With her romance with Jack going well, Nadia is the happiest she has been in a while. At least, until heartbroken Alfie decides to drop out of university and move back in. Will Nadia put her life on hold to look after him? Can Nadia and Jack’s relationship survive with a stroppy teenager?

A great fun book told from alternating points of view; a good description of how your life changes once the kids have left home. A lighthearted entertaining read.

I totally got this story. I’ve been the empty nester and completely related to the kids coming home and the mess from Alfie. It’s an easy read, nice characters and a lovely feel good story.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

A lovely, heart-warming read and a beacon of hope for empty nesters the world over. Really enjoyable.

This was a fun novel about a chance at love after love was lost. The novel is told in alternating points of view. The only criticism I have is of the main characters son Alfie. Alfie had his own issues he needed to work through, but he wasn't a likable character.

This was a fun book to read! However, I wished they focused less on Alfie who seemed a bit waste of space.
