Rafael happens to need his green card, she needs a fiancé for her magazine covered wedding. Maybe they can help each other out. While, Nelly and Rafael work to convince their friends and family that this is the real deal, might they be falling for each other...?

Who doesn't love a good romcom?! I'm always down for a cute, but funny love story with awkward circumstances, but knowing in the end love always wins! That is "The Wedding Favour" to a T. Nelly is the person you want to root for because you've been there. Rafael is the handsome guy she convinces to go along with her plan to save face.

My only critique is that this book felt a little short. I felt like there were some areas that could have had more detail and maybe more drama. But overall, I felt like this was a cute, quick read. I gave it 4 stars!

I love books when people who weren't supposed to fall in love do, and the sparks fly. This is exactly what I got from Nelly and Rafael. During this lock down, I truly needed an escape and this provided a good excuse to turn the world off. Enjoy this romantic, hot adventure!

A fun light read, completely unrealistic but that’s what we need at the moment, who needs realistic books ! I wanted to run away with Rafael myself and you want to slap Nelly’s ex. This is just wonderful escapism, a pleasurable read for a smile we desperately need. Cute, fluffy, funny and romantic, a great read for happiness.

It's a fluffy silly book, perfect to have a good time and forget about the real world. But, unfortunately, Rafael's voice sounded so false, maybe I don't like over the top romantic guys, but all the "mi cariño" and sugary expressions were getting on my nerves. Al least he was warm and a good guy, Matt was so sleazy and childish, I'm glad Nelly dumped him for good.

I always know that I'm in safe hands with a Lilly Bartlett book, and this one really was just what the doctor ordered.

I love the fake date / fake marriage trope and seeing just how Nelly and Rafael deal with it was great.

Both have very good reasons for entering into this arrangement and getting to know them both and their various tastes while planning the wedding is a lot of fun.

I would have happily married Rafael, punched ex boyfriend Matt and potentially throttled best friend of the groom Mabs.

There is plenty of enjoyment to be had from this story and it was a pleasure to read.

The perfect escapist book for this bleak times. It's well written, the plot flows and the characters are interesting and likeable.

Sweet, fluffy escapism of the best kind!
I loved every word of this. A really perfect pick-me-up read.

What a gorgeous read, definitely distracted me from everything going on in the world. Loved the plot and the characters. This is one I definitely recommend.

A difficult review to write as initially I just couldn't like Nelly, finding her very shallow. She had just split up with her fiance, Matt, but was locked into a contract with a bridal magazine that is covering the wedding and everything leading up to it. She meets Rafael, a Colombian who works at the same company as Nell and is about to lose his visa unless he married a British native. They come up with a plot to get married and hopefully solve both of their problems.
As I said I struggled to feel any sympathy with Nell, however as the story developed I began to see more of the real person, rather than her Internet persona. Rafael came across as a gentleman whilst his friend Mabs, a very attractive Colombian, is just trying to get began them.
Overall I'm glad that I persevered with the book as it did develop into a very readable story.

Although the plot of The Wedding Favour - a jilted bride in need of a new groom enlisting the help of a man in need of a visa - sounded like something I would completely LOVE, I struggled from the start with this book. I can't pinpoint what it was, but something about the storytelling just fell flat for me.

Although there were some fairly funny parts, I found on the whole the book was uninspiring. The characters were annoying and forgettable, and I struggled to care about any of them.

By the end, I really wasn't invested in the story at all. A real shame, but I found myself rushing to finish and not particularly caring if the romance had a happy ending. Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me.

OMG! This book was absolutely amazing. I just couldn't get enough of it. I'm smiling right now just thinking about it. The story was well written and kept me completely captivated. I believe this is one of the best love stories I've read in a while.

Nelly is rising star as a social media influencer and life is looking great for her wedding in Las Vegas until her fiance calls her from the continent saying he needs to think things over. But Nelly has already used all the advances from a magazine on the wedding and has no means to pay it back. She's really stuck herself in it now. By chance she meets Colombian Rafael who has lived in London for years but is now facing deportation. So a scheme arises that they will help each other out with a business only marriage.

So far, it's a hare-brained scheme but not exactly unheard of. Nelly's fiance technically has called things off but his feelings change a bit once he comes home and finds she's got a new fiance in such short order. The new couple explain it all away and supposedly it makes sense. Still it's pretty crazy stuff and then there's the wedding itself and the social media aspect of it. I've read quite a few stories lately about influencers and it's a bizarre world that is described. It's not so much it isn't believable...maybe it is but it's like selling out your whole life and what starts out as easy turns into a monstrous burden.

Overall this is a fairly typical rom-com but it has a few stand out moments. I give this a rating of 3 stars.
