A great page turner and thoroughly enjoyable read. Lots of intertwined stories on the lives of one family and how a shocking discovery affects them.

Something To Tell You is sheer joy! From raw devastation to life-affirming happiness, it’s a brilliant heart-buster! Absolutely loved it - yet another Lucy Diamond classic.

Frankie is excited to find an unopened letter from her mum who has passed away, until she realises that her mum is revealing who her father is. Discovering that her father Harry Mortimer is from York, she decides to find him and turns up as he is celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary.

Although delighted to discover he has another daughter, Harry’s secret from the past sets off a chain reaction which affects the whole family.

A great book which highlights the women of the Mortimer family and the way they deal with everyday challenges. An excellent read which I would recommend.

This is typical Lucy Diamond writing. A lovely story of family and relationships . Highly recommended

Lucy Diamond’s books are always a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed Something to Tell You. It centres around the Mortimer family - Harry and Jeanie, and their four adult children - and opens with a (metaphorical) bomb being thrown into the centre of it when Frankie, the daughter Harry never knew he had, turns up out of the blue.

That seems like plenty to be going on with but there’s lots more going on here too, with subplots for other family members which could easily each have filled a book of their own. As well as Frankie, Jeanie and Harry, daughters-in-law Robyn and Bunny also have to deal with unexpected and traumatic secrets being revealed. And Frankie too has her own troubles quite aside from the Mortimer family, when a very unwelcome face from her partner’s past turns up to throw her own bomb under them.

All the characters and stories are very engaging and it really was one of those books I never wanted to end! If I have any criticism to make it’s that things were perhaps tied up a little too neatly at the end - particularly with regard to the Julia storyline.

All in all an excellent read which I really enjoyed.

This is not the first Lucy Diamond book I’ve read or reviewed. I’ve been enjoying her books for longer than I’ve been blogging so it’s no surprise that when I was offered a copy of this book early I jumped at the chance. (I may have squealed with delight too!)

All of her books that I have read I have enjoyed to varying degrees but I have to admit that I feel this is her best yet. We start by meeting Frankie on the day she turns up at at house belonging to one of the Mortimer family. Following on from there we meet the rest of the Mortimer family and begin to learn about them and realise that, actually, their world isn’t as perfect as it would appear at first glance.

We follow various members of the Mortimer family, including Frankie, as their lives change as secrets come out and past truths are revealed. Despite there being a few threads to this story and many supporting characters in each thread (some overlapping) each character is realistic and it’s easy to imagine them walking through your door because the author has done such a brilliant job of writing them. Even those who are in the book for a few pages or less feel as solid and real as I am.

It was also brilliant to meet a cast of strong female characters who, although dealing with difficulties in their lives, are managing those difficulties and not letting themselves be controlled by them. When I was reading I felt as if I was involved with all of the characters, I knew them and followed their journeys as their lives changed and developed through the book. The complaint I have with the book, and I’ve already told the author this, is that I’ve finished it and, unless I re-read it, I’ve come to the end of my journey with the Mortimer’s.

I am equally excited for, and jealous of, all of those readers, fans of the author and those who have yet to discover her work, for they get to journey with these characters anew, something that I can no longer experience. However, despite that, my journey with them was worth every second!

I have enjoyed all of Lucy Diamond's books, and this one was no exception. Essentially this is the story of the Mortimer family celebrating a golden wedding anniversary. Along stumbles Frankie, who has just found out who her real father is. I really loved how each family member had their own story to form smaller sub-plots within the book (it did take me a while to remember who was married to who and who were the siblings!). Overall a really really great read. Would highly recommend.

Spurred by a letter written by her late mother, Frankie turns up on the doorstep of her father Harry Mortimer, who has no idea she exists. Unbeknown to her, the whole family is gathered to celebrate his and wife Jeannie’s wedding anniversary party. Frankie’s arrival sends ripples through the Mortimer family and leads some of them to make questionable decisions of their own.

Overall I loved this book, it was just what I needed to get me out of my reading rut! Lucy really is a fab author, I’ve never read a book of hers that I didn’t love! The book had it all, ups and downs, laughs and heartbreak! Brilliant story and a great feel good book to perk you up after a long winter!

I always enjoy Lucy Diamonds book and was so pleased to be given the chance to read her lastest novel as simply brilliant many twists and turns and really makes you think. Shows the dynamics of family life especially one where there is many secrets to uncover and shows how they support each other to get through the problems. It's witty and funny and very thought provoking and so true to life. Can a family all stay together with so much going on or it is just to much. It's simply fantastic with excellent characters and didn't want the book to end at all.
Frankie is with her partner Craig and his child from a first relationship but when her mother passed away so so pleased to have one letter she wrote to read to bring her close to her mother again. Problem is the letter tells her who her father is and where he lives but he knows nothing about her at all. Meanwhile the Mortimer family are celebrating the parents wedding anniversary and having a big party but when Frankie turns up how will Harry react that he had another daughter but how will Jeanie react as she never knew her husband had an affair. After the bombshell of Frankie turning up she leaves again and Harry is going on a dream holiday with his wife but when they get to the airport she tells him she's going on her own how will he react to that. Meanwhile Robyn is married to John Mortimer and she loves the family so much and is worried as knows her husband is hinding something as being distant then he looses his job but when Robyn Fonda out why what will happen to their marriage and she's also worried if she can stay friendly with the Mortimer family as she loves them all how will others react. Then you have bunny who is with Dave Mortimer and she is slowly realising her past is catching up with her but she's so in love with Dave she doesn't want him to find her secret as how will he react and she knows he won't want her. She decides to leave him but in the process of leaving him she has a bad car accident and the hospital ring Dave and when he turns up she tells him to look her real name up so when he does will he want her or not. Then you have Paula who when she gets the video of the family party she sees her sister Frankie and cannot believe how alike her she is so she wants to contact her to get to know her but how will others react. Jeanie is away on holiday and stays longer than she was due to and makes a silly mistake one evening when she's drunk to much and now wonders if she should go home to face Harry but in the meantime he's realised he needs to go to her and he travels out and faces her. Can they all sort their problems out or not and can they be happy as a family or not.
Full of secrets and heartbreak while also being heartwarming and a brilliant read.
