How does a mother face the realization of her young daughters awakened spiritual status? Anna was born fully awakened; aware of her past lives and of the energy around her that binds everything and everyone through God. Her mother, Maggie, is responsible for assisting in her development, protecting her from harm, and also continuing to awaken her own spirituality and connection to the spirit realm.

John Nelson does a wonderful job telling a quaint story from Anna's conception onto her eighth birthday as her and her mother face and overcome the challenges of being an awakened soul. Incorporating well researched themes about the Hindu tradition, lends to a believable and enjoyable story that any reader will enjoy.

This is the first time I have read anything by John Nelson and once I got through the first chapter, which was unusually captivating, I found myself binge reading the rest of the book. Constantly anxious to find out how things were going to unfold and where the characters were going to end up,

As a mother myself, I found that I was relating with Maggie's concerns and decisions throughout the entire story. They were well placed concerns and I always got a little chuckle out of how Anna responded to her mother's concerns. The relationship was believable and enjoyable, even with the higher spiritual realm dynamics.

One of my favorite supporting characters was the lawyer, James. His genuine and supportive demeanor always helped to calm Maggie during stressful situations allowing Maggie to continue living her life and making the adjustments necessary for her and her daughter, but always with the force that a lawyer carries.

This is a book I would recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about Hinduism or world religions, mothers, educators, social workers and most of the general reading community would greatly benefit from the quality of this story. You feel spiritually more grounded after reading it.

Miracle of Anna An Awakened Child by John Nelson

Literature, Fiction, Spirituality, Hindu, Religion, Metaphysical & Visionary

Maggie meets Thomas at a Hindu retreat. They share a night together in the back of his van. This coupling is blessed by the local Gugu. She foretells of a special child that will be born from this union. Nine months later, Anna Jane Langford arrives. She is born fully realized which proves to bring many challenges to Maggie’s life.

Before Anna’s birth, Maggie was an elementary art teacher. Because of her unmarried status, this is problematic for the school superintendent. She decides to try her hand at writing a children’s book. She bases it loosely on her daughter’s connections to others. Anna does not have any desire for schooling. She wants to spend most of her time meditating and connecting to spirit. This proves to be a problem and Maggie must become a homeschool teacher. Word gets out within the Hindu community and other families approach Maggie to teach their children along with Anna. Although reluctant, Maggie agrees and takes on several students, but it isn’t long before a crisis occurs that jeopardizes Maggie’s teaching and Anna’s position in the community.

The story is written in the third person present tense. I was captivated by the story and could not put it down until I finished reading it. There are many references to spirituality, yoga and the Hindu religion. I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in past lives and spirituality.

An interesting book looking into spiritual side of things. I loved the relationships throughout the book and how the idea of rebirth and self identity. If you want to try something different this is it.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author John Nelson for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received my ecopy of The Miracle of Anna and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

The writer's style was pretty two dimensional but I feel that added to my enjoyment. I actually found it a very soothing read which also served to remind me of things I am apt to forget; to have faith in the future because nothing is impossible.

I was going through a particularly difficult time and reading the Miracle of Anna grounded me and helped me to surrender my worries and to expect the best outcome.

I think I will be re-reading this book whenever my spirit is low in the knowledge that it will calm my concerns and centre me on acceptance that this too will pass.

This is a most interesting book. Twenty-something Maggie gives birth to Anna, a child avatar, and immediately realizes the importance of sheltering her child from the outside world. Anna can heal others, transport them to different astral planes, and can recall past lives. Thus, this is a very different, though still interesting book. Maggie and Anna live peacefully until Child Services intervenes, after an episode related to a trip to Joseph’s astral park (Joseph is Anna’s spiritual guide) in a dispute related to the Bhagavad Gita. Can Maggie manage to continue her quiet life with Anna or with this change things for them both?

As I said, this book is a bit different but still interesting. The author’s style of writing might be a put off, as it is more a report style than what most of are used to. The blurb for the book was interesting, and definitely lived up to expectations. I think the author should get some credit for his creative originality, as I have not seen or read anything with a story line such as this one. It stretched my thinking on this whole issue. It will appeal to any reader interested in rebirth. I think others also may find it quite a good read. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

Unfortunately I couldn't get interested in this book. It felt shallow and unreal. Not my favourite book at all!

I really didn't enjoy this - I found myself wanting to say "oh REALLY" all the way through it . It was a quick read but as a narrative it failed for me. The spirituality feels forced almost like a religious tract and despite her supposed intelligence her language skill simply don't seem up to par. I understand this is something the author has chosen to do but for me. it is this that means the narrative fails.

The birth of a child avatar should be a cause for celebration, but twenty something Maggie Langford finds that sheltering Anna's sanctity from the intrusion of the outside world is her first priority.

Maggie's unborn baby can communicate with her while she is still in the womb. Maggie gives birth to Anna who is an avatar. Anna has healing capabilities and she can transport others to different astral planes. Anna can also remember her past lives.

I really was not keen on the authors style of writing. I found myself having to re read parts to try and understand them better. The blurb was interesting and caught mu attention but the book did not live up to what I expected it to be. I'm sure there will be many other readers who will enjoy this book.

I would like to thank NetGalley, John Hunt Publishing Ltd and the author John Nelson for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

To be honest I found the book a bit repetitive and the ending a somewhat abrupt anti-climax. This is a subject which is probably more appealing to spiritualists

Not my normal kind of book but it was interesting and thought provoking but there was nothing sensational about this.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did as it had such an interesting premise! Maggie gives birth to Anna who is an avatar and can speak to her mother spiritually even while in the womb. As she grows, it's apparent that she has healing capabilities and can transport others to a different astral plane. What I had trouble with was the writing style which seemed more of a "report" than a novel in which I was invested. I never really connected with Maggie even though I kept hoping I would as what an unusual "gift" to have a daughter so talented and unique! I consider myself to be spiritual and open to these ideas but this one just didn't speak to me as I'd hoped.

Anna was born awaken in touch with her spirt. She remembered all her past lives before she was born and could speak to her Mom through spirt . If you believe in rebirth this is a very good book. I really liked it. I don't want to give too much away so I don't spoil it. Anna is a healer

This book has an interesting premise, but I found it the author's writing style difficult to read. This is about a child Avatar and how she must hide who she is. It was interesting, but as I said I had trouble with the author's writing.

An unusual and different book. Not for me and I didn't manage to get past the first chapter due to the style of writing. All books can't suit eberyone, may appeal to others.
