Another belter of a psychological thriller by C.L.Taylor. A well-crafted storyline which crackles with tension. This is a book you won't be able to put down.

Wow, what can I say? Twists and turns until the end. It makes your brain think but it's more you turning into a detective to find the answers.

The ending makes me think there could be more coming!

High quality psychological thriller. I would say this novel is a wonderfully plotted thriller that kept my mind working overtime trying to figure out who the culprit was. With its remote island setting and cast of disparate and damaged characters all adding to the tense plot, I raced through the pages as the suspense increased and the well of suspects decreased. I really enjoyed this one, there was a lot of suspense, action, intrigue and mystery. I would definitely recommend.

The lead character, Anna is involved in a tragic road accident which has left three of her work colleagues dead or seriously injured. Anna was driving and as you might expect. feels responsible and following her release from hospital decides that she needs to make a clean break in her life, so she splits from her boyfriend and takes up a position in a hotel on the small Scottish island of Rum where she is not known.

Before she left for Scotland, Anna felt that she was being stalked and she has still has that unnerving feeling that she is being watched still and that someone is out to harm her. Shortly after starting her new job, seven guests book in and each of them has a secret, but one of them is lying about who they are and why they're on the island. There's a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. Have they got their sights on Anna?

A brilliant fast paced, twisty turning plot which I could not put down.

Really enjoyed this book, read it within two days. It was the first book by this author I’ve read and certainly not the last. Enjoyed the different viewpoints from characters and didn’t “suspect” the mastermind behind it all.

Sleep by CL Taylor will definitely grab your attention from the first page and it doesn’t let it go. This thriller will definitely keep you up regardless of the title! I read this in one day and could not out it down. Taylor keeps you intrigued with her short chapters that leave you with little cliff hangars throughout the book and definitely make your heart race through some of the more exciting moments! My first novel by Taylor but I will definitely be checking out others!

This book is a psychological thriller set on in Rum, a remote Scottish location. The main character Anna wants to escape her old life after a car accident leaves her feeling distraught and guilty after two of her colleagues die and one us left paralyzed because she was the driver.

Mysterious messages including the word 'Sleep' start appearing and Anna is scared someone is stalking her and wants her to suffer for what she did.

The suspense escalates throughout the book. I really enjoyed the setting in Scotland. My only grumble is that I didn't feel a connection to Anna, there wasn't enough detail about her to get me invested in the character. That said it's a great read. Another great book by C.L.Taylor; she’s yet to write a book that I haven’t enjoyed! I’m usually rubbish with thrillers in that I always guess who the bad guy is/what’s going to happen really early on, which usually spoils it somewhat, but I didn’t manage to guess the one! That is evidently a sign that this is good book.

Love CL Taylor’s books and have read them all, always get excited when I get hold of a new one! This didn’t disappoint and as per usual I was turning pages well into the night. Brilliant characters and a great storyline, lots of twists and turns and a great ending to boot, what more can you ask for!!!! Absolute corker

I have enjoyed reading other books by CL Taylor and this one is up there with her best. Full of twists and turns, this is a cracking page-turner that you will struggle to put down.

Really enjoyed this book. 3.5 stars. I would have given it 4 stars but I pretty much knew what was what which I thought I wouldn’t but I did so there!!

I actually don't think CL Taylor can do any wrong. What an incredible writer, and another cracking book! This was so gripping and kept me guessing all the way through. I've recommended Taylor to all the people I know will enjoy reading these books. Can't wait for more.

Anna was involved in a horrific car accident which left two of her colleagues dead and one paralysed. She is consumed with guilt and struggling to move forward. She takes a housekeeping position at The Bay View Hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum. She is convinced that somebody is stalking her to get revenge for the accident and she believes running away to Scotland will make her safe. Anna settles into the hotel and seven guests arrive for the weekend, a terrible storm hits and they are cut off from the main land. Anna is trapped and begins receiving messages again like the ones at home. It can only be one of the guests which means she is trapped with somebody who wants to kill her. She must work out which of the seven strangers wish Anna to sleep forever.
Sleep is a truly excellent thriller. The setting is perfect and adds so much to the story. It is like a traditional country house murder mystery but with the added element of not being able to get any kind of help.

The plot twists and turns in a brilliant manner, every time I reaches the end of a chapter, I couldn't stop myself from starting the next one. There are many red herrings and there were several occasions where I thought I had worked it out. However, I did not see the final twist coming at the end, it is so good.
Taylor creates such a good atmosphere in this book. Anna's fear is tangible and the hotel setting is claustrophobic and desperate. You want Anna to escape but there is no where for her to go.

An easy read. A mystery thriller that doesn't fail to please. Set in the Scottish highlands. Anna is trying to run from her past but has it followed her?

This is the first book I have read by C.L. Taylor. I was impressed with the plot and the characters were well presented. I generally prefer a faster paced thriller but this was a pleasant enough read. C.L. Taylor has a number of books and I will pick up another one in time.

There is probably not much as atmospheric as a remote island off the coast of Scotland in the middle of a storm when it comes to the world of psychological thrillers. That's definitely the case with Sleep by C. L. Taylor, which makes very good use of the surroundings to create tension and drive the story of a young woman trying to run away from her secrets forward.
In many ways, the setting reminded me of Agatha Christie. Not that I think she ever wrote a story that took place on Rum or anywhere similar. More in the idea of a group of people trapped with their lies and someone determined to make sure they get their comeuppance. It worked well for Christie and it works well for C. L. Taylor.
What didn't perhaps work quite so well for me were some of the characters, who I felt were a little too stereotypical (but then again, I often feel that way about Christie, so maybe this was intentional?). I did like Anna, and I cared what happened to her but beyond that, I'm not so sure.
Saying that, it didn't stop me reading this book pretty quickly - it really is a page-turner - meaning it comes with a recommendation to give it a go. Enjoy!

What a dark and twisted thriller. I had a pretty good idea who the killer was but the connections and subsequent motives were very cleverly done. The story is really good. It's a slow build but has some really good creepy moments. The ending though was much better than I expected, it finished the story well with a perfect last possible twist. The writing was descriptive and easily created the picture of a stormy lonely location. Anna was a tricky character to judge which I liked because you could never be too sure what was going to be real. A great thriller.

I’ve read every single book by C.L Taylor – going right back to her first published novel, Heaven Can Wait, which was a romantic comedy with a supernatural twist (and bloody brilliant) rather than a thriller. So I know when I settle down with her latest book I’m in for a good read. But Man, Sleep is without doubt her best yet!

When Anna is involved in a car accident which kills two colleagues and leaves another severely disabled, she shoulders the blame. She was driving after all. Unable to work, unable to forgive herself, unable to sleep – her world is falling apart. Then there’s the notes being left for her – is someone also blaming Anna for the tragic accident? Desperate to escape, she takes a job in a hotel on the remote island of Rum. With only a handful of guests and the local wildlife she should be safe here. Right?

Oh. My. God. This is a seriously gripping book and I’m giving you fair warning – only start this if you have a few hours to spare. You will not be able to put it down. I didn’t even mean to start it – I was doing a bit of kindle tidying and looked at the first page. 4 hours later, and in desperate need for the toilet, I’d read the entire thing without looking up. And that’s what makes C.L Taylor such a fantastic author. She knows exactly how to grip her readers right from the beginning.

The setting is fantastic. A wild and remote island. A hotel hosting a cast of eccentric characters. A murderer on the loose. Reading this is like a game of Cluedo crossed with Agatha Christie and I absolutely loved it. The guests all seem to have their demons and reasons for choosing this remote location to holiday and one of them is clearly holding a grudge. But it’s impossible to guess which one. I had every single one of them as the villian at some point.

There’s so many twists and turns to navigate until the truth is revealed, and when it comes it was like a bolt out of the blue. I seriously could not have predicted it. Taylor is also blessed with art of lending some compassion to her characters – no matter how villainous and explores themes of mental ill health, delusion, paranoia, depression and suicide. If you’re a fan of thrillers, then this is a book not to be missed. Just make sure you have a few hours spare before you start.
