This was such a cute book. I loved that Jen was into brewing beer and not wine and vineyards- it was such a nice change of pace. I received this book as an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I will be telling people to be sure and grab this when it is publushed!

This was a good book but it drags on just a bit too much. Overall, it was a good story and by the end I was throughly disappointed it was over. It was just a little too predictable and not enough depth to the characters. The ending was worth it though so if you start reading it, don't stop when it starts to drag because the ending is worth it. I am grateful to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Who wouldn't want that? How adorable is that title.

This cute rom-com was quite an easy and quick read for me once I got in to it. The first few chapters I found hard going.

We follow Jen who brought up her younger disabled sister after a tragic accident saw them lose both their parents. She has her life meticulously planned and lists of her lists, that is until her dependable (and boring) boyfriend proposes and she accidentally says yes.

Whilst on her hen do in Copenhagen she has to make a choice. Good old dependable Robert, or a whole new life.

I didn't always like Jen. Her decisions made you want to scream at the book and shake her. Her sister, Lydia, was just perfect. She shows that being disabled doesn't need to hold you back. I found her much more interesting and would have loved to have read more about her spunky character.

I also really liked that Jen's hobby was a more male orientated one. Pushing boundaries and unconventional.

In short this book is about finding yourself, not living in the past, embracing life and 'following the passion'.

A light-hearted fun read which has you chuckling at times. Easy to pick up and get lost in.

This was so cute! It took a bit to get in into it, as Jen is a bit of a prat (her words, not mine), but really addicting once you really get into it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting read, it's a wonderful story of taking risks, Friendship, sibling bonds, finding love, discoveries and new beginnings.
Filled with plenty of mishaps, mayhem, a few juicy twists, laugh out loud moments, romance and beer!
The Characters are strong, relatable and I loved Jen and Lydia's bond, it warmed my heart and reminded me of me and my Lil Sis.
Lydia is a strong and inspiring character and it made such a refreshing change to have a disabled character represented with such passion and zest for life. For this I thank you!

Probably the Best Kiss in the World is an uplifting, feel good Rom Com that I highly recommend.

Such a fantastic book!

Jen is living a safe regimented life with her boyfriend Robert…..living by her lists. In a job that she’s ‘ok’ with but really wanting to pursue her hobby of brewing beer! On one of her date nights her boyfriend proposes, and her ‘yes’ is accepted before she’s had a chance to really consider it….or even answer!!

Her brilliant, and slightly wild, sister is not impressed but after some honest conversations, and more than a few heated debates, she agrees to be her on team Jen and arranges an impromptu hen break, in Copenhagen. Jen’s struggling with not being in control and then falls in the canal trying to save her phone….and her many lists and spreadsheets! She’s fished out by a gorgeous, topless man and they end up spending a lovely evening chatting, eating and drinking beer!

After returning home, wedding plans are in full swing but she can’t get her new friend out of her head…..she needs to make a decision! She’s set on marrying Robert….safe and dependable with a ‘plan’ for them for the future….but is it her plan? Is it what she really wants? And ultimately what will she decide?!

I loved this story, and the characters! Jen is brilliant, if a little frustrating to begin with. Her sister is brilliant – you’d have a brilliant night out with her! And Jen’s friends are brilliant and supportive. Robert is…..pretty boring and Yakob is amazing! At times I wanted to kick Jen, but completely routed for her the whole way through!

Pernille has done an excellent job! I felt like I was there with them all the time; like I was a silent friend who was shouting at her and nudging her but not being heard! If you love a rom com then this is for you, and if you’re planning a holiday….laying on a sun lounger with a book then this would be perfect! Highly recommended by me! I look forward to reading more from Pernille.

There are some genuinely funny parts to the story and although the past has some horrific events, for the main part, there is a hopeful story.
Jen, in particular, has a quirky character although she feels a great deal of responsibility for her younger sister. You always feel that you are rooting for her as she shows her courage and determination throughout. With a great lashing of romance and a certain depth to the relationships which are explored, this turns out to be an enjoyable and at times, thought provoking read.

Cute book. There were times when I didn’t like Jen so much but she realizes how she’s acting and fixes it. It was an easy read and one I will recommend to friends looking for a cute rom-com story.

Compared to the amazing romantic comedies by Sophie Kinsella, Lindsey Kelk or Mhairi McFarlane, this was a good contender, although I have to admit I didn’t care much for Jen. Lydia, her sister, on the other hand, is perfect. She makes the whole story worthwhile and was incredibly well fleshed out, especially when compared to the supposed protagonist.

I would recommend this book - it is lighthearted fun, with some amazing one liners which had me chuckling.

I was curious about Probably the Best Kiss in the World because it sounded like a fun romcom set in Copenhagen and I was really looking forward to discovering a bit more about this city and have some fun with the characters. Unfortunately, the story was not what I expected. There is very little action set in Copenhagen and although there were elements in the story that I liked, the relationship between the two sisters was really well developped and very interesting,, I did not enjoy the story in general. I unfortunately didn't like the main character and the decisions she made. And some secondary characters, like her bosses and their family, felt a bit too unrealistic.

Favorite Quotes:

“This ring was my great-grandmother’s, on Mumsie’s side,” he explained, plucking it off her palm as she stared shell-shocked at him, “apparently, it hasn’t seen daylight since the undertakers took it off her finger and handed it to my granny … Oh. It’s too big.” Great-granny must have had salamis for fingers, the ring would have fallen freely off Jen’s thumb.

I should wash your mouth out with soap. This is a haven of romance and dreams. Shame on you. I’m going to fill this space with old romance novels to ward off your bad vibes.

Ava’s mother, though short, filled the entire width of the doorway. Her penchant for floral two-pieces did nothing to lessen this spatial illusion, whilst also making her look like a walking sofa. Her enormous blonde curls were immaculately dyed and set, and doubled the size of her head, which might have appeared comical, had it not perfectly matched the size of each of her huge boobs. Height aside, everything about her shouted Big Personality and she hadn’t even opened her mouth yet. Jen braced herself.

Right now she was a cocktail of emotions. The Molotov kind.


My Review:

I giggle-snorted with glee at Ms. Hughes generous servings of clever levity and highly amusing storylines, although I struggled more than a bit with her profoundly flawed, ridiculously inflexible, and greatly annoying main character or Jen, who really needed a kick in the arse. Jen was a pragmatic list maker and control freak whose issues and acquired traits created a considerable conflict for me, yet it was ultimately an enjoyable one with a satisfactory evolution.

Ms. Hughes’s characters were uniquely intriguing and enticingly quirky. I was highly entertained and engaged throughout by her witty and creative use of humorous insights and observations. Thankfully, Jen didn’t actually require a surgical procedure to fully dislodge her deeply wedged cranium from her posterior region, although she did require a considerable helping of misery and comeuppance to work it clear on her own.

Witty, warm .. and a warning to anyone who thinks of 'settling' for safe . . .

Jen Attison is a young woman I can identify with; she has her own way of doing things and is a bit set in her ways. A weekend in Copenhagen has been on her list for a long time but it's never reached the top - until a surprise is sprung! What she doesn't realise is that it may well make her re-assess everything which features in her comfortable - but predictable - life.

This is a gorgeous, magical read! With some very clever writing - beginning with the title - it made me smile, giggle and nod my head in understanding all the way through. From Jen's work to her relationship, and not forgetting her passion, there is tons going on and it's such wonderful reading! Other characters just add to the fun, each with their own personalities, strengths and foibles and I just cannot fault this one at all. A rom-com is what is promised, and it delivers - big time! This is my first foray into Pernille Hughes' books, and it has definitely put this author firmly on my radar. Bursting with entertainment value, this is a full five star read!

Some books you just know you're going to love from the opening moments and this was certainly one of those numbers. The story line was captivating with charisma and charm with several beer puns thrown in to lighten up the festivities. The narrative was laced in love and longing for living the best life possible and draws you into its welcoming midst like a new friend. With sparkling and witty writing this book has everything to offer and I fell hook, line and sinker for each and every word.

Jen is a dream of a character who captured my heart and stole the show in my opinion. Flawed? Absolutely....but these traits, combined with an abundance of endearing qualities added up to one selfless, talented and hardworking woman. Lydia was the shining inspiration in the cast and delivered, in spades, on bravery and determination to get back up after a blow and I was right behind her, shaking my pom-poms, for each life affirming step she took. Ooohhhhh is it time to talk about Yakob yet? Be still my beating heart....there's a Danish demigod dishing out Oscar worthy kisses and let me tell you they were what dreams are made of. He certainly brought the sizzle to the story and I was all for pushing Jen back into that canal for my moment in the spotlight. Aherm.....moving swiftly on!!!

Probably the Best Kiss in the World is everything is says on the tin. It has heart and soul, swoon worthy smooches and generous amounts of ale served on the side for good measure. As you can tell I loved this book....but don't just take my word for it - download it today and dive straight in. You won't be disappointed.

I spent a weekend snuggled up in my living room with this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ story, I enjoyed the characters almost as much as I wanted to knock some sense into them. Every single one of them was perfectly flawed, in as much I was rooting for them to succeed at the same time as shaking my head at their logic or lack thereof.
It was most definitely the characters in this story that kept me reading, Jen being almost neurotic to Yakob.
The flow of the story was paced well and matched the tried and tested beats.

I found this one mostly easy to read and enjoyable. But the articles that were randomly dotted throughout the story really threw me off. I found that I’d be really hooked on the story, powering through and then I got stopped by some article about Lydia, her younger sister. Am I meant to be caring about her sister? Is her sister somehow super important to the overall story?

By the time I got to the end I could see how Lydia was important in helping Jen become more self-aware and confident enough to follow her dreams. But I don’t feel like the articles added anything to the overall story, so I’m not sure why they are there.

On the other hand, Jen and Jakob’s relationship was sweet and endearing even though I don’t like how Jen went about starting her relationship with Jakob. I’m not a fan of cheaters, and I don’t think we should be glamorising those who cheat and that they can still get what they want from life.

But I also get that sometimes you do just get carried away, and before you know if shit’s gone down that you regret. I just wish she’d been more upfront about all that with Jakob and Robert.

The fact that Jen and Jakob’s relationship centres around beer was quite entertaining to me. Especially since there were references to stereotypes that women don’t like beer and couldn’t possibly understand beer. I loved that this felt like a subtle dig that women can do stuff men can as well. Specially considering if you go back far enough in history, it was actually the women who brewed beer first.

Sweet, sassy, and inspiring!

This was a fun lighthearted romcom with a cast of delightful characters. Jen isn’t necessarilg living her best life, but she’s living a life she’s comfortable with. She doesn’t have a dream job, but she has a job that she’s good at. Her boyfriend/fiancé doesn’t make her swoon, but he’s reliable. Jen however has a different side to her as well. She is a little quirky, a lot opinionated, and she has a passion for brewing beer. When Jen’s sister Lydia plans a surprise trip to Copenhagen, a dream holiday for Jen, she finds her life turned upside down. When she is trying to rescue her cell phone from the canal she ends up falling in and is rescued herself by a handsome Dane. They end up spending a magical evening together and he does make Jen swoon. So what happens when Jen returns home?

I truly love this book there was such charm to this story. However, The blurb is a little misleading. The events are not in the correct order. Jen got engaged and then went to Denmark where she meant this handsome stranger. SO let’s call a spade a spade, Jen cheated on boring Robert. AND your fiancé being boring is NOT a valid reason to cheat on him, if you’re bored get out! Sorry, I have strong feelings on this, and I was so torn in this book because I really like Jen and I really did not like her with Robert. Completely understood and empathize with Jen’s sister Lydia. Lydia was a fabulous character, she was so strong, had so much heart, and she was such an amazing support to her sister. I’d have to say I’d absolutely love a follow-up to this book that features Lydia, loved her! I truly thought I knew where this book was going, but then it took a bit of a swerve that I truly thought was perfection.

Pirnelle Hughes has written an exceptional romcom. The perfect balance of humor, family, friendship, and love. And if it weren’t for the cheating I would have given this book a full five stars, but that is a trigger for me, so sorry. But just like you can love a book full of characters you don’t like, you can also love a book where characters do things you don’t like. Simply put this was a lovely romcom that made me want to visit Denmark and have a beer! 🍻
