This is an interesting guide which provides helpful information from poignant and relatable anecdotes. I'm not ready for the freelance life, but this was a fascinating insight into the positive impact that working in this way can have on family, balance and overall wellbeing.

A book I return to again and again. Great to dip in and out of when attempting to launch a freelance career, or for existing freelancers who are looking for answers or need a bit of inspiration.

I quite enjoyed this and there is some useful info in this book along with examples of mums who have made it freelance.

Loved this book. As well as being a bookseller, I also work freelance and this book really resonated with me. It gave me reassurance that I could pursue a different way of working to see if it was right for me and my family. Lots of helpful hints and tips as well.

i wanted to like this, as a freelancer and a parent, but it was so relentlessly London-centric and so focused on creative and mumpreneur types that it felt more like a slap in the face for the vast majority of freelancers who aren't working in that sphere. It does have some useful and practical information but it's buried pretty deep.

Some useful parts but it's far narrower in scope than the title suggests and seemed only to be speaking to a very select crowd of privileged women who work in media.

Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a ARC book in exchange for an honest review and apologies for the delay with my review.

It's helpful reading a book like this and I'm grateful that I have been able to combine being a Mum with freelancing as a yoga teacher an option which is not viable for many mothers out there for different reasons. I've always wanted to work for myself mainly to avoid office politics whilst doing something that I love.

There are many tips in this book that work well though a few things that were left out.

One of the downsides of this book, if I'm going to pick a fault with it, is that it would be great to see a book that caters for a more everyday type of mother rather than a middle-class stereotype. What I'm referring to is one of the budget breakdowns, which could be frustrating for someone on a lower income to read. When a person starts out in business they may need to cut down on personal luxuries even more because of some of the income going back into the business.

Overall i would recommend it though as a book that was well written and easy to follow.

I have been a freelancer for approaching 10 years so I read this book out of personal interest when I fancied reading a non fiction book for a change.

I think this book would be incredibly useful for a mother of young children who is considering freelancing as it covers a lot of highly relevant issues such as social media, self care, childcare and suchlike.

The author has clearly researched well and includes a number of well known people and their observations as examples of freelancers in this book which is interesting - more so than if the book was from one point of view alone.

This book would be of most use to someone in the field of writing or media. As I work in publishing I did skim read some of the information which is based on the writer's personal experience and focussing on writing/journalism. Likewise the section about getting your husband to help out - being divorced this again is irrelevant to me and almost slightly annoying as it assumes everyone has help at hand on a daily basis, when some of us are very much going it alone. To be fair the author does also mention a number of examples of single parenting mothers who are freelancers in several other sections.

On the whole I enjoyed this book and it was good to read it with hindsight and feel safe in the knowledge that my freelance set up does tick most of the boxes the author highlights. I would recommend this book to others who are considering going down the freelance route, especially those who are considering it and don't know much about it yet - you will find everything you need to know in this book, and it would be especially useful to those considering becoming freelance writers.

I must admit that I haven't read this book from cover to cover but have thoroughly explored the first few chapters and then dipped into the rest. I am not now a young working mother so was reading it out of social curiosity. What struck me immediately was that the women this was written about and therefore aimed at, are those with specific career paths and skills sets. As a mother who had less experience and qualifications I would feel inadequate and rather depressed reading this as without the extensive careers described here pre children, I am not sure a woman has the opportunities going forward. Just be aware of this before you buy/read.
