This is a great book for intermediate artists. The artwork is beautiful. And if you know the basics of drawing, the instructions are easy to follow. Just keep in mind, this is not for beginner artists.

I found the book Draw and Paint Super Cute Animals by Jane Maday to be quite a delight. There are animals in all sorts of varieties of different shapes and sizes to choose from in this book and I think they definitely fall under the category of cuteness. I’m a dog person and so that was a fun category for me to check out. I also was a huge fan of her sea creature group. Sometimes I found that it moved quickly from step to step but I just needed to slow down and give it some intense, determined effort.

This book is fantastic. It is the perfect go to book to learn how to draw, and different techniques to use. It helps you learn what to get in supplies, so you will be ready to paint or draw and have what you need.

The book is broken down into different categories so you can find what you want, three different drawing techniques you can use to draw or paint, and even shows you a variety of techniques to draw or paint the fur to make it look real!

The drawings of the different animals provided makes it really easy to take up a pencil or paint and draw these animals. With all the information you get from blending colors, drawing, tracing, using the grid method, and using paint and the ability to do this by getting what you need to create wonderful pictures is really rewarding.

I highly suggest this book for amateurs and even people with some experience! I gave this book 5 creative stars!

Librarian: How does your 700s section look? Is is circulating? Specifically are the 760s circulating? (The 760s are drawing & painting for you non-librarians.) If yes, then is this the type of drawing book you need? You know your patrons, and what they like and don't. Would they make use of this book?
Personally I would be more inclined to order this book for a children's nonfiction section than an adult one. Based on experience working in both areas, I have more trouble seeing this circulating amongst adults then I do amongst kids. Not that it won't get any circs in an adult reference section, but I can see it getting significantly more in a children's one.
Reader: I cannot draw worth anything. Unfortunately, working through the exercises in this book didn't really change that. Still it was fun to try. I might pick up a copy of this one for a Christmas present for a friend.

Although I do not see myself gaining these results soon, I LOVE this book.
Jane has a way of making it seem possible to draw a cute animal that others will recognize. I see this more as a book for those who have mastered some very basic skill at drawing and sketching. It is inspiring for those of us who really want to be able to accomplish this.
The illustrations are adorable. The information on techniques and extra tidbits, such as why a bunny has eyes closer to the edge of its face, is insightful.

To kick things off, the author listed several different types of pencils and pens with clear explanations to serve as a guide along the way for their proper use. So much for my number 2 pencil, its reign has come to an end.

In this clearly illustrated book, I found the authors recommended guidelines extremely helpful. A description of drawing techniques paved a clear path for providing life to an otherwise senseless drawing. Mostly, I was intrigued by the simplicity of the grid method; it carefully outlined a much easier way to draw from a photo. That would seem to work perfect for me - so I hope. I recommend this book as an invaluable read for the neophyte artist looking to improve upon drawing and painting skills.

"Draw and Paint Super Cute Animals" is an art instruction book about coloring and texturing cute animals. The author uses mixed media, including graphite pencils, colored pencils, ink pens, and watercolor. She has you use the grid method and transfer paper to get the animal drawing onto your final piece of paper. She provided 35 step-by-step demonstrations that started at this point and then detailed what colors she used, what type of paint or pencil she used, and basically described how to add color and texture (like fur) to the animals. Each demonstration consisted of 3 to 5 steps per an animal.

The demonstrations were: two of bunnies, three of cats, three of dogs, and a wolf, fox, baby skunk, fawn, chipmunk, squirrel, mouse, fall leaf, lamb, duckling, donkey, pig, titmice (birds), flamingo, Chickadee, Goldfinch, owl, dolphin, puffin, seal, panda, Brown bear, polar bear, otter, turtle, frog, and butterfly. Many of her demonstration animals were baby animals. She also talked about posing the animal and backgrounds for the scene. Overall, I'd recommend this book to those focused on the coloring and texturing of animals rather than those needing step-by-step drawing instructions.

PROS
I’d give my blood to have a physical copy of this book, truly. Besides being SUPER helpful with drawing techniques and actually explaining stuff instead of just rubbing on our faces that we can’t draw. While I read, I doodled some of the animals present on the lessons. I must say: my cat soundly resembles a cat and I wasn’t even trying hard. Bonus: we have AWESOME pictures to illustrate painting techniques and designs. This book is a work of pure art!

CONS
I think this book isn’t properly for people without any previous drawing knowledge. Even the smallest figures are filled with details, and this doesn’t match up with all the materials and technique classes from the first pages.

Readers that would love to learn more about drawing animals and general painting techniques!

This is both a very charming and a very instructive book. If you want to learn to draw and paint adorable animals, you can learn how here. There are detailed instructions on supplies and steps in creating the animals shown. There is also support for the need to learn and acceptance at not being perfect. However...If you don't want to draw, you might enjoy just looking. The illustrations are adorable!

It is a lovely step-by-step drawing book for all ages. Here I learned about color temperature, drawing techniques and basic shapes. It is a nice project for me and my children.

As a hobby artist, I have tried many "how to draw" books. I enjoy the experience of learning while at the same time keeping it simple and fun. Draw and Paint Super Cute Animals checked all those boxes for me. Nicely done, sweet illustrations.

I was interested in this book because as a complete novice I really wanted to learn how to draw cute dogs. They didn't have to be realistic looking but more detailed than just a caricature. This step by step tutorial taught me not just how to draw really cute cats, dogs, and rabbits but a whole host of wildlife too.

The book goes a step further and shows you how to blend, shade and colour the illustrations to make them look really professional.

The first part of the book explains use of colour, shading and drawing techniques. Then the second part concentrates on the tutorials of drawing each different animal. The pictures in the book are clear and bold, which is important because the illustrations teach the reader as much as the text, in this case.

The only problem I could find was that the title is slightly misleading. The book does indeed teach you how to draw and paint super cute animals but also so much more! Full Review here

This a lovely book brimming with ideas for drawing a variety of cute animals. The projects themselves are super cute and will allow the beginner to have a go. I am not sure there are enough instructional steps though for a beginner to get the results close to the authors but still a great starting point. A good short book and a great resource for card makers and anyone who likes to add pictures to their journal.

Charming book with beautiful artwork about animals like cats, dogs, foxes and wolves, birds, critters, farm animals and so on. Many step-by-step tutorials, simple and useful Interesting the combination of various media like pastel pencils and coloured pencils.

I am not really good at drawing other than matchstick men. Would love to draw, which initially drew my attention to this book. It contained excellent demonstrations and i am sure that i will be able to produce more than a few matchstick men within time. I am not good at blending colours and hopefully with the aid of this book, i will one day be able to do this with no problem. Cannot wait to get started! I do highly recommend this book, which will help anyone to produce wonderful drawings whether you are a beginner or those who are more experienced in drawing.

This book contained great demonstrations on how to draw and paint many different animals such as cats, dogs, birds, butterflies, farm animals, and even sea creatures. The author included all the material needed as well as understandable explanations.
I think people of all ages will enjoy this book as they recreate their own version of the author’s amazing final projects.
