This is a welcome return to the world of the Bridgertons - a family we have come to know and love .
After two 'seasons' in London Poppy is bored with the prospects on offer - staying with friends
on the coast she finds herself kidnapped by what she assumes are smugglers .
But they are not smugglers , led by Captain Andrew Rokesby they act as couriers and spies for the British Government . Realising who she is and having compromised her -Andrew decides not to tell her who he is and takes her with him to Portugal to complete his mission .
The banter between the two and developing romance makes for an enjoyable light read - although not quite up to the same standard as previous books by the Author .
I was given an arc of the book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I am an absolute sucker for the forced together trope so this was right up my street. Kidnapping, pirates, a few close calls, some witty banter and chemistry that's off the scale. What's not to love?
Poppy is just my kind of heroine, clever, curious and very competitive she's very capable of holding her own against the band of privateers who kidnap her. I absolutely adored how a couple of the more seasoned sailors were in fact terrified of her.
She does however meet her match in Captain Andrew James. She is used to being the smartest and wittiest in any room but he seems to have a knack of getting under her skin and often besting her. He's also clever, funny and despite initial impressions very noble and kind... OK he's swoon worthy. There are some serious sparks between them and I loved their bantering and teasing. There were even a couple of moments that made me laugh out loud.
The other characters, mostly the ships crew, are also wonderful and I loved young Billy.
This was my first book by Quinn (which is shocking given my love of historical romance) but it will not be my last as I really loved her writing style. The story moves along at a great pace and the dialogue is absolutely perfect. My only complaint is that it was all over a little too quickly.
If you like historical romances with feisty heroines and witty banter I would highly recommend you read this book.

This, the third novel featuring the lives of the older Bridgestone and Rokesbys from Julia Quinn’s earlier series, is lighthearted and features all the deft writing and dialogue that she is famous for, however, it fell a little flat for me.
Poppy Bridgestone, who is a little bored with her prospects after two London seasons, is down staying with her friend near the coast, and while exploring the coast stumbles upon some of the crew from Andrew Rokesby’s ship. They abduct her, as they are concerned she has seen some of their spy activities and take her to Captain Andrew Rokesby. He decides to take her with him, as he has a short amount of time to complete his mission to deliver important documents to the British Envoy in Portugal. She has never met him before, but he works out who she is, and realises that he will have compromised her into marriage. He decides not to tell her who he is for some flimsy reason, and introduces himself as Captain Andrew James.
He confines her to his cabin, as he believes her presence on ship will spook his crew, and starts by tying her up. Her initial resistance to this settles down quite quickly and she becomes resigned to her fate, if a bit bored in one small room.
This part I found extremely unbelievable, he didn’t need to kidnap her, he could have told her who he was and let her go. Unfortunately this plot device just didn’t work for me. It led to some set piece interactions between Poppy and Andrew, which, whilst handled as deftly as usual by Ms Quinn, just felt unbalanced to me, as I felt Andrew held too much of the power here, and kept too many secrets from Poppy, so the scenes felt unbalanced to me.
The bantering interactions confined to the cabin also went on for a long time, the denouement and resolution felt much more rushed in the final quarter of the book. There just wasn’t enough happening in the book to really grip me, and I found Andrew’s behaviour a little highhanded and couldn’t understand why Poppy forgave him so readily.
It’s a pleasant lighthearted read, for a lazy afternoon, but not really that involving or emotionally resonant enough for me.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. Posted on Goodreads.

Anything by Julia Quinn will always be on my to read list and I absolutely adored this third book in the Rokesby series :) I loved the plot, and though there is some who will find a kidnapping plot a bit controversial I love these kind of plot lines. JQ does her thing and this book was very enjoyable. I have already gone and added the published book to my actual library.
The writing and characters and plot were enjoyable and entertaining. Massive thumbs up.

The Other Miss Bridgerton started off great with Poppy being abducted by two pirates and taken to Captain Andrew Rokesby ship and there held captive. The rational part of me does think this whole kidnapping thing is crazy. And, yes Andrew is now a real pirate, and he's a gentleman. Still, it's still kidnapping. Then again, I do read more crime and thriller novels than romance, so kidnapping for me is seldom a good thing when it comes to books.
Anyway, this story worked well at first for me, there are a lot of funny moments and I found Poppy and Andrew to work well together. Then, it all fizzles out. I'm sorry, somewhere along I just lost interest in the story. I think around the starting to fall in love moment is where I just didn't enjoy the story so much. The whole plot in Portugal and what happened after that was just plain boring. So, a good beginning, but not a very good ending.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Not normally my sort of read but have to say I actually really enjoyed this and will look out for the other first 2 books from this author.

The Other Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn is the third book in the Rokesby series. After failing to find a husband despite two seasons in London – although I don’t think she tried very hard – Poppy Bridgerton is visiting a friend in Dorset when, while she is exploring some beach caves, she is kidnapped by pirates. But things aren’t as dire as they seem. The captain of this gang is really acting as an agent for the crown and had no choice but to take Poppy along for the ride if he is to fulfil his latest mission.
I love this author’s books especially anything to do with the Bridgertons. They are always slow burning romances where the characters take the time to get to know each other and the dialogue between them is always entertaining. The heroes might initially come across as rakes and scoundrels but at heart are really gentlemen just waiting for the right women to come along and make them want to settle down. The heroines are all properly brought up young ladies but each come with a sense of adventure that stop them from being simpering misses and quick tongues that immediately challenge and capture the attention of the heroes. All in all, the characters are so well described, as a reader you come to care about them so much so that these books always leave me with a smile on my face and a warm feeling and this one was no exception.

This was a light hearted read but rather dragged on for a while with nothing much happening until nearly 3/4 of the way through the story. Not one of Julia Quinn’s best.
Thank you to the author, Little Brown Book Group and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I love Historical Romance novels, but I haven’t read one in a while. When I saw ‘The Other Miss Bridgerton’ on Netgalley I immediately requested it. I’ve read the first book in the Rokesbys series back in 2016 and loved it. Since this is the third book in the series I knew I had to read it, one way or another. So I was super excited when my request got approved and I started reading as soon as possible.
In ‘The Other Miss Bridgerton’ we meet Poppy. Poppy has always been independent and smart. But being smart as a woman isn’t always approved of. One day Poppy is walking by herself, while visiting a friend, when she discovers a smugglers hideaway. Before she knows what really happens, she is kidnapped and taken aboard a ship and left in the cabin of a captain. This captain is Andrew James, who is getting ready to go on a time-sensitive journey to Portugal. The last thing Andrew want to do is take Poppy with him. But unfortunately, he doesn’t have a choice.
Ever since my baby girl was born, I haven’t been able to read a book in a day. Which I definitely don’t mind because I’m completely in love with our girl and want to devote all my time to her. But when I started reading ‘The Other Miss Bridgerton’ I just simply couldn’t stop reading. I read this book on Sunday, we didn’t have any plans and I finished this book the same day I started it. I read when my girl was taking her nap, while I was breastfeeding her and after she went to bed in the evening. It was such a great read I just had to finish it.
I loved reading about Poppy. Poppy definitely was way to curious and smart for a woman in her time. But it was so fun to read about. And it was especially fun to read how Andrew reacted to her. He didn’t dislike the fact that Poppy was so smart, he enjoyed talking with her. Which was complicated seeing he kidnapped her. This really made for some fun moments.
Andrew was also a very fun character I loved getting to know. He was a captain on a smugglers ship. But right from the beginning it was clear that there was much more to his story. Finding out what really was his deal was so fun. And the romance.. Sigh.. That’s why I love Historical Romance so much. The courting, the desire, the romance.. I loved everything about this read and it was just perfect.
The fact that this story took place mostly aboard a ship made it even more fun. It was unusual, and added a little mystery that I loved. And lets face it, the whole captain on a ship part makes this book even more romantic. I definitely have to read more Julia Quinn novels.

Although the pace was slow at first, it did include some endearing and amusing moments, Poppy’s questioning mind, the teasing banter with Andrew and the scene on the deck at night. Once the ship had landed in Portugal, events moved along at quite a pace. It had a very satisfying ending. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3 and ½ stars!!!
Poppy Bridgerton is on her second season and visiting her friend Elizabeth who has married George Armitage, when she gets kidnapped by pirates. Yes pirates! The captain of the ship decides he needs to take her with him on one of his journeys to Portugal in order to take care of business.
Andrew Rokesby is the captain of the Infinity and he’s a pirate by day and working for the Queen by night, he’s a real gentleman underneath his sarcastic smile. Andrew is trying to make the best out of a bad situation and save Poppy’s reputation at the same time.
Poppy and Andrew fall in love whilst on the week long journey and whilst I struggled with flow of the book during this part of the story it did have Julia Quinn’s witty and clever banter.
I just couldn’t follow along as I normally would with one of Quinn’s books, I suppose I didn’t think most of the book would be set in the captains cabin.
After keeping her captive and giving her things to occupy her time, Rokesby remains a gentleman to whole time. After carrying on with the boats scenes it was wonderful! Action and romance Ahoy!
I don’t want to give to much away in the plot, it really was a great story once I got pasted the ship chapters.
I was given a copy by netgalley for an honest review.

The other Miss Bridgerton.
I love historical reads especially by Julia Quinn.
Poppy like all the other Brigerton Girls she won't just sit at home to be a dutiful wife ( when the time comes). She would like adventure,
Poppy Is visiting a friend after a disastrous season in London, she finds a smugglers cove while she is walking between the rocks along the beach and is kidnapped by a band of smugglers or so she thinks!
Brillent read and romantic.
I hope another book is soon to follow .
Many thanks nettgalley and publishers for a advance copy to read and review which are all my own words.

Fiercely independent and adventurous, Poppy Bridgerton will only wed a suitor whose keen intellect and interests match her own. Sadly, none of the fools from her London season qualify. While visiting her friend Elizabeth at Charmouth on the Dorset coast, Poppy is thrilled to discover a smugglers' hideaway tucked inside a cave then dismayed when two pirates kidnap her and take her aboard a ship The Infinity, leaving her bound and gagged on the captain's bed. Known to society as a rascal and reckless privateer, Captain Andrew James Rokesby actually transports essential goods and documents for the British government. Setting sail on a time-sensitive voyage to Portugal, he's stunned to find a woman waiting for him in his cabin. When Andrew learns that she is a Bridgerton, he knows he will likely have to wed her to avert a scandal-though Poppy has no idea that he is the son of an earl and neighbour to her aristocratic cousins in Kent.
I love the Bridgertons & was thrilled when this series started. This is the third book in the series but whilst it’s easily read as a stand alone why would you when the series is so very very good. The pace flows effortlessly but it’s the depth of the characters that raise the author’s books above the run of the mill. A feisty heroine & a charming rogue of a hero whose war of words is so very well written & also extremely entertaining. Poppy is strong & verbally spars with Andrew from the start rather than crumpling & becoming a sobbing mess on being kidnapped. Andrew keeps his identity a secret but soon realises he’s met his match in Poppy. I look forward to more in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I think I've read every Bridgerton book so far because I love coming back to the ever expanding family of mad aristocrats. This one is as ridiculous as many of the others, I spend as much time rolling my eyes as I do laughing but it's a fun, easy read..

Full of frolics - a little far fetched but enjoyable... not your usual regency romance!
I had no idea that this was the third book in a series - it worked well as a standalone with clearly described links to the rest of the family.
I will look out for other books by this author
4* enjoyable but not for the regency purists - scandalous behaviour!!

I do love Julia Quinn's novels, so as soon as I saw this I dropped everything to read it. I adore the escapism of historical romances, particularly ones with humour, and the author's 'Bridgerton' series is one of my favourites. This book is the third in her 'Rokesby' series, which often features characters from the earlier generation of Bridgertons. It can be read as a stand-alone.
While visiting her friend on the Dorset coast, Poppy Bridgerton is pleasantly surprised to discover a smugglers' hideaway tucked inside a cave. But her delight turns to dismay when two pirates kidnap her and take her aboard a ship, leaving her bound and gagged on the captain's bed.
So far, so good, I thought! Unfortunately Captain Andrew James Rokesby turns out to be the perfect gentleman. He's also a spy working for the British government, rather than a pirate, and is forced to take Poppy along on his time-sensitive mission to Portugal.
As with all Julia Quinn's books, I loved the characters and the brilliant dialogue. This is the perfect story for readers who love 'meet cute' and the slow burn romance of two characters getting to know each other. For me, however, it felt like nothing much happened until 70%, when something fairly dramatic did happen (no spoilers, sorry!). I really liked that bit! And also the end was lovely and romantic.
Recommended for fans of the light, romcom style of historical romance, and authors such as Eloisa James. This was a solid four-star read for me.
Thank you to Julia Quinn and Piatkus for my copy of this book, which I requested from NetGalley and reviewed voluntarily.

I loved this book. It was a refreshingly different take on the. Standard romance of this period. As a bonus, it was also hilarious. The dialogue between characters was well planned and the storyline was entertaining too. Read this book if you want a romance that will have you laughing out loud throughout the book.

Three and a half stars.
Poppy Bridgerton is spending a few weeks with her (very pregnant) friend Elizabeth in Somerset, every afternoon she explores the coastline looking for caves, until one day she stumbles across a privateers' cave and is kidnapped.
Andrew James Rokesby is a former naval captain turned privateer on behalf of His Majesty, couriering letters and documents between the UK, France, Spain and Portugal under the name Captain Andrew James. He is on deadline to deliver some letters to Portugal and has no alternative but to take with him the young woman his men discover hiding among the brandy kegs. However, once they are at sea and he discovers that she is a Bridgerton, cousin to the family that lives next door to his family in Kent, he realises that there is a very real possibility that he will have to marry her to preserve her reputation.
Poppy and Andrew have a great sparky relationship full of innuendo and sarcasm and I really enjoyed reading their exchanges while she was imprisoned on board the ship. I love Julia Quinn's writing and it had an added interest since I spent a long weekend in Lisbon this summer. Unfortunately, I am less enthused about shipboard romances and my enjoyment of the novel overall was tempered by the feeling that I just wanted them to get off the ship which unfortunately doesn't happen for a long time.
I am also surprised to see that I somehow missed the second book in this series (love, love, loved the first book, Because of Miss Bridgerton) so I am off to rectify that omission tout suite.
I received a fre copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

What a joy to read a Regency romance in which the heroine doesn't lose her temper with the hero because he has had no choice but to hide something from her! I love Julia Quinn's books and her witty, strong characters and I particularly enjoyed this one - even if it does stretch the bounds of credibility just slightly! Andrew and Poppy are both self-aware well-rounded characters who find themselves in close proximity. Andrew has a secret and knows more about Poppy than she realises, something which in a lesser writer might have come back to bite him. Happily for her readers Julia Quinn digs a bit deeper than some of her peers and gives us characters who think. Hurrah!

I always have two fears whenever one of my favourite authors releases a new book. I worry that it will be the most disappointing book I have ever read (see Lisa Kleypas’ Devil in Spring or Julia Quinn’s Girl with the Make-believe Husband) because I’ve so looked forward to it. On the other hand, I worry that I will love it so much that once I’ve started it, I won’t put it down and the book is over before I know it. This one was in the second category.
I liked Andrew Rokesby when we met him in Because I’d Miss Bridgerton and I was interested to see how his story went. Then I was disappointed by the second book in this series and a little bit of the hope I had for his story died. But Julia Quinn came back full force with this one! Curious heroine, AMAZING hero, everything you could possibly want from a JQ novel. I’m not even sure that I have the words to do it justice.
I love both characters and the banter between them. It’s very rare that a book manages to make me laugh and cry but this one managed both.
Oh, and also, I bloody LOVE a Bridgerton!
Everyone should read this book.
Everyone.
5 stars!
