This author can be compared to the likes of writers like Karen Rose and Tess Gerritsen, and must be enjoyed as such. Recommended for anyone who loves a good read.

This is my first book in the Evelyn Talbot Series and whilst it can be read as a standalone
I recommend reading the other books first .

Evelyn has used her past experiences to explore the minds of Psychopaths , especially now as lead Psychologist at Hanover House , remote Alaska .
Evelyn's nemesis Jasper Moore , who tortured her and killed her friend is closer than she realises and
when two bodies are discovered she comes to the conclusion that the murderer might just be Jasper .
Will she finally become his victim or can she use her new found knowledge of Psychopathic minds to
help catch this evil man before its too late.

This is a well thought out murder mystery , fast paced , full of twists and turns with great characters
which I thoroughly enjoyed .

This is my first introduction to the Evelyn Talbot series and I definitely intend to go back and revisit the others in the series. It's hugely gripping, full of tension and made me want to keep reading.

If you haven't read the book in The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles Series you definitely should make time and start reading. I love hoe the reader gets slowly drawn into the horror of the minds of psychopaths. Evelyn can't forget what happened to her when she was 17 and has her mind set on finding out everything there is to know about psychopathic killers. The book is chilling and nail biting and absolutely unputownable once started.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Headline!

Why has this series completely passed me by?

Definitely a good read and if you like Karen Rose, all the better.

Now I have to go and buy the first two books..................................

I've been waiting two books for Evelyn and Jasper to come to a head and wow it was definitely worth the wait. This story was incredible. I love this little world Brenda Novak has created in Alaska and she really raised the stakes. You never knew when it would all reach the crescendo and for 95% of the book i was on the edge of my seat. I'm so excited there is another one coming and can't wait to see the story progress.

Face Off, the third novel in the Dr Evelyn Talbot series from New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak, has only just shown up on my radar and I haven't read the previous two books so I didn't know what to expect. What I discovered was a criminally underrated author and series. As I have a fascination with the warped ideology of psychopaths the fact that this is based around psychiatrist Dr Talbot's dangerous patients residing at Hanover House in Alaska really appealed to me. Given Talbot was subjected to a horrifying ordeal at the hands of her then-boyfriend she has a vested interest in discovering why these perpetrators do what they do and has turned her traumatic experience into a positive by taking the job in order to help others who have been in the same situation.

This was one of the best surprises of 2018 for me. It's endlessly compelling, compulsively readable and holds you in its grasp for the duration. It takes very little time when you begin to be completely engaged which turns this into a tense and exciting one-sitting read. There are twists and turns the whole way through and I loved Dr Talbot as a character - she turns her near-death experience into her life's work trying to care for others. She is strong, fearless but still, naturally, haunted by the incident with ex Jasper despite time having passed. This was definitely a five-star surprise for me! I literally cannot wait for further additions to the series to be published and I've already nabbed copies of the previous two novels. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to Headline Eternal for an ARC.

This is the first book I’ve read in this series and I really enjoyed it.
Evelyn is being targeted by Jasper Moore, who tortured her and killed her friends, when she was 16.
She knows nothing of the threat as he’s hidden away but much closer than she thinks.
As Evelyn struggles to get on with her life two bodies are discovered and soon she realises it could be Jasper.
So 20 years later, she is again frightened for her life.
This is a gripping read.
Thanks to Headline and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
