Gemma is about to turn 40 and is a single parent to two unruly children. Her friend and neighbour Becky decides to get Gemma a personal life before her big birthday despite her own problems. Absolutely Smashing It is a light and pleasant enough read. It's predictable but enjoyable and a decent way to pass some time. I did find bits of it amusing but its maybe not quite laugh out loud funny.
