This book helped me reflect on how I use the tropes of 'Diet Culture' to criticise myself. I now can see comments and campaigns that capitalise on this. If you want to face your relationship with food and dieting, and shift your way of seeing it - this is the book for you. The author's prose reminds you to be gentle with yourself and take small steps towards self-acceptance so that you can take up space in the world with confidence.

This is the kind of book where you can instantly think of someone you know who needs to read it (even if they don't know it yet). I was already pretty familiar with some of the ideas (body positivity, fatphobia, health at every size) but to some people, they might feel a bit radical at first. That only means they need to read it more!

This book is not a 'quick fix' (and Dr Laura Thomas doesn't claim it is). Ultimately, it can take a long time to unlearn disordered eating and patterns/habits drummed into us since childhood. This book is really an introduction to the process itself; how to learn about you and what you need to thrive, not what someone else has told you is 'right' or 'healthy'.

I did feel it could've been shorter. There's a great deal of information but some of the ideas are oft-repeated and it might be more accessible if it was pared down, or accompanied with colourful illustrations. My review copy for Kindle had quite a few formatting problems so a lot of the tables didn't make sense. I'm sure this was fixed for the final release but I'm hoping they look a bit bolder.

A really interesting and open minded book on food and diet.
It’s a book that can be re referred to again and again. As I read it -it gave me a different idea of how to look at food and myself.

Just Eat It is a book about demolishing diet culture and promoting intuitive eating - which is about ignoring food myths and understanding properly what your body wants, what hunger feels like and what being full feels like. It's entertaining as well as informative, Laura Thomas takes no prisoners whilst deconstructing diet culture and that makes it a lot easier to read.

I'm not entirely the target audience, but I still found it a helpful book, and I think for those who know that they have issues around food then it would be a good one to recommend. The style is quite informal (and occasionally sweary), which I thought was helpful although it might not be for everyone. I especially enjoyed the line that there is a link between people who don't eat carbs and people who are "a dick on Twitter", and that's fairly indicative of the style. Thomas also clearly knows what she's talking about with regards to nutrition and how people approach food - there's no "wellness" nonsense in this book.

Overall, recommended if you're looking to rethink diet, or thinking about what diet related books should be stocked and recommended. It helps give the tools to think it all out for yourself, and is much healthier for that than other diet books would be.

I read the introduction of this book and immediately went out an bought it so I could have a hard copy to annotate. If you're interested at all in your diet and changing your thinking around eating, get this too!

#JustEatIt is a life changing book that I definitely recommend you read if you have ever felt weird around food, binged, restricted, or dieted.

Written in an informal style (swearing is quite frequent, didn’t put me off!) Laura introduces you to the idea of Intuitive Eating, and how it can help you overcome your food demons. As she says, ‘Once you see how pervasive diet culture is in everyday life, you can’t unsee that sh*t’ and this book definitely opens your eyes. Laura reminds you that no matter how your body looks, we are all valuable and deserve respect from ourselves as well as others; this book helps you to do just that.

As a highly qualified and experienced nutritionist, Laura explains the science behind why diets don’t work and why those who are high on the BMI scale aren’t necessarily unhealthy. This is again, truly eye opening, and shows that we can trust the message of this book.

OK, I agree that most of us have had a hang up about food at some point in our lives, so rather than add to the collection of dieting books out there, this esteemed expert in nutrition has instead almost written a diatribe to the masses - wake up and smell the f-ing coffee!

It is full of information and personal experiences and isn't an easy read. The blasphemy is direct and constant, whilst Laura's fury and frustration really comes through.

It isn't an easy read, and would reach a wider audience with perhaps a different format, more illustrations and text broken up? I'm looking forward to the audiobook!

As I’m always on a healthy eating kick this was of interest to me to read about intuitive eating instead of emotional binging! It was laid out well but I think the constant swearing may put some people off who want to rethink their goals. Will definitely dip back in and use some of the methods for sure. In the introduction to this book Laura Thomas says (capitals hers) “WE TRUST OUR PHONES MORE THAN WE TRUST OUR BODIES”. This is definitely true for me, I track everything I eat via an app on my phone and worry if I feel hungry when I have eaten the “perfect” amount on any given day.

This book was an eye opener for me and allowed me to think critically about my relationship with food and social media.

The book was not difficult to follow and felt like an honest account- Laura discusses her own issues with disordered eating and it is refreshing to hear this from a nutritional professional.

The book is quite sweary but I expected that from the title and I do believe Nutribollocks is my new favourite word!

I really enjoyed this book and will re-read in future spending more time to complete the activities.

I was completely put off by the word "s--t" appearing on every page, also the f-word popping up often. Totally unnecessary. The author's tone was too informal, Americanised and trying to be "down with the kids". The message is not a new one, and I do agree with some of it. I have so many friends who latch on to the latest diet and food fads and in consequence their weight yo-yos. This book was recently summarised in the Sunday Times Magazine (who like to publish the latest eating theories), I did not read much of it, but was not overly impressed and I do not think it will change anyone's life.

A useful tool for teenagers and young people particularly, along with adults who feel they need a "reset" on their attitude to eating, weight and diet. Its full of useful insights into these subjects m, including a well-thought out critique of the diet industry, media, social media and health services in their attitudes.

The book is accessible and easy to read, with a nice chatty tone and a good sense of personality from the author too.

If you're looking for an easy way to lose weight, this book isn't it. But if you're looking for someone to help you let go of food/diet hangups and learn how to listen to your body more, this might be a useful tool.
