I’m a huge fan of this author and am making my way through all of their books. I really like this authors writing style and the romances in their books. I really like all the thrilling and mysterious aspects of these books. I can’t wait to continue to read more by this author.

FBI Special Agent Macy Crow is ready to get back on field after her accident. She has to work with local sheriff Mike Nevada to uncover the killer of Tobi Turner whose bones are discovered after 15 years. It was a fast paced enjoyable mystery.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC

Special Agent Macy Crow has just recovered from a very serious accident but is desperate to join in the FBI’s most elite team, Behavioural Analyst Unit. As a way to prove her investigative skills she is handed a 15 year old missing person case of Tobi Turner whose bones were recently found. Macy works with local Sheriff Mike Nevada, an ex-partner, to solve the case . Whilst they begin their investigation they find links to historical sexual assaults and Tobi Turner’s murder. Now they have to race against time to find answers and stop this maniac before someone else gets hurt?
Hide and Seek by Mary Burton is the first book in Criminal Profiler series. I enjoy reading Mary Burton’s books and this one did not disappoint .A well written fast paced plot , with interesting characters made it a very enjoyable read.

A definite "Hide And Seek" game between Special Agent Macy Crow and an evil stalker turned killer, making Macy a target in his evil game. But Macy is no stranger to evil, and with Mike Nevada covering her six, it's only a matter of time bringing the killer to justice.
Will keep you at the edge of your seat!

This is my first book by the Author and won't be my last - one which I thoroughy enjoyed .
FBI Special Agent Macy Crow , desperately wants to get on agency's elite Profiler team - and asks to work on the case of recently discovered Tobi Turner who vanshed 15 years previously .
Also on the case is ex- Profile turned Sheriff Mike Nevada , an old 'flame' of Macy - he has managed to link the case to a spate of sexual assaults the summer Tobi disappeared .
Working the cases together will benefit both , most particularly Mike who hopes to rekindle their relationship - but Macy has her own demons - a barely survived a hit-n-run accident in Texas on her last case .
The killer has not gone away however - he has upped his game from sexual assault to now one of murder and Macy just might be on his latest list of victims .
This is an action filled , intriguing mystery with some scenes of sexual assault that might offend some readers but which I felt were necessary to the story and not in any way gratuitous . I look forward to reading more books by this talented Author .
I was given an arc of the book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

It’s another thrilling story from Mary Burton and with all the twists and turns she definitely keeps her readers guessing to what will happen next.

Another cracker from Mary Burton. Macy Crow, desperate to prove she is still at the top of her game after being almost killed is sent to investigate a cold case. Mike Nevada, once a special agent is now the Sheriff of the town and the two have to work together again. They were lovers the last time they met, and the sexual tension and the bodies keep piling up. I have said it before, Mary Burton is never afraid to describe a murder scene, and she is so good that her books are difficult to put down. Look forward to more of Macy Crow and Mike Nevada.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Mary Burton is high up there on my list of favourite authors. She could probably write about paint drying and I was love it. Macy is one of her best characters yet. Hide and Seek is another amazingly written page turner.

Romance and a thrilling mystery? I'm in! What a pleasure it was to read this story, my first by this author. I absolutely adored the main characters and the relationship between them. As an avid mystery and thriller reader, this story was so refreshing!

Another thrilling ride by Burton. The twists and turns kept me turning the page for more. Love the chemistry with Macy and Nevada and can't wait to read the next. Yes, I'm so far behind

Mary Burton is a must read author for me.mShe always delivers a suspenseful, mystery, full of twists and turns. Her characters are well developed and relatable. The storyline is easy to follow, but not predictable. Well worth the purchase.

This is a great new book and a great new series by the fantastic Mary Burton.
Her criminal profile series kicks off with a bang and I am very excited to read more in this series.
The book is packed with suspense, thrill and is a twisty plot.
Bring on the next installment of Macy Crow!

This is the first book in a new series, and I enjoyed each and every minute of it. I love the kickarse attitude of Macy, she just won't quit!
Highly recommended.

So I read a book by Mary Burton before and I really enjoyed it, especially because it featured a romance, and I still think that holds up especially with this novel! Hide and Seek was awesome! Mary has no issues getting the action and mystery stuff started early and it keeps you hooked, and her books are always filled with twists and turns that you don't see coming! Also I loved the romance! I love romance in my novels, especially when they're well done, and this one was no exception! I loved the romance!!!! I was obsessed! Also that sex scene, favorite thing ever! While this book is the first in a series, if you read Cut and Run apparently Macy shows up in that one! So I'm planning on reading that too! I am definitely going to read more of Mary's books because they're so good! Highly recommend her work!

Sheriff Mike Nevada used to be on the FBI’s elite profiling team, but after a case in his home town he gets pissed off at the local sheriff’s mismanagement of evidence, so he leaves the team and runs for Sheriff. And wins. When the body of Tobi Turner is discovered 15 yrs after she disappeared, Nevada manages to get Special Agent Macy Crow assigned to the case. Macy barely survived a hit-n-run accident in Texas on her last case, but she’s back to work and really wants on the team. This is her shot. She has a week to get solid evidence leading to a suspect, or better yet catch the guy, and then they’ll talk about her joining the team.
This story is wow. It doesn’t hit a reader over the head and drag them off. It whispers sweet words and romances the reader with great characters, a well-defined world, a creepy bad guy, and so much more. Before you know it, you’re in love and will follow this story to the ends of the Earth. I feel the ending was a touch rushed otherwise I love it. It reminds me of Criminal Minds, a show I love, so if you enjoy those types of shows then this book is right up your dark alley. I am most definitely looking forward to more books in this series.

Macy Crow is absolutely one of my favorite characters and Nevada makes a great compliment to her determination to find the serial rapist/killer. Having narrowly escaped death herself, she feels a kinship with these victims. The plot is nonstop and exciting. There is just enough romance to keep it interesting. I always look forward to it new Mary Burton novel and I highly recommend this one.

Mary Burton can write a really creepy mystery - and this new series looks to be no exception. The first chapter starts out with our villain botching a job, and even that was enough to give me the willies.
But first, if you are triggered by descriptions of sexual assault, this is not the book for you.
The story pulls together several viewpoints and timelines all in a small town in Virginia. The body of a long-missing girl is found, and FBI-turned-small-town-sheriff Mike Nevada is able to link the girl’s murder to a spate of sexual assaults that occurred the summer she disappeared. But the killer did not disappear, and he’s getting more unstable by the day. Nevada is aided by FBI Agent Macy Crow, who is dealing with her own trauma as she works to solve the case.
The book deals with sexual assault, as stated above, but I think the author handles them with sensitivity, in that justice for the victims is the overarching theme of the book and the investigation. The book begins with Nevada’s election in the wake of a scandal over untested rape kits by the previous long-serving sheriff and that failure is addressed throughout the book.
On to the particulars of the book: I liked Macy, she has been through a lot and doesn’t let it faze her. Nevada also seems like a great guy, really trying to do right by his constituents and by Macy, who he has been involved with and would still like to be. I look forward to seeing their relationship evolve in the future.
As for the mystery, let’s just say it is SOOOOO relevant to happenings in today’s society that I found myself really nodding along and really getting into things - I don’t want to say too much because it’s best to read and see for yourself. But you’ll see the “ripped from the headlines” elements here and it’s really very good.
This looks to be the start of a new series that i’ll Definitely be following. Mary Burton delivers yet another creepy, suspenseful book that kept me furiously turning pages.

Really enjoyed this book. I've read others featuring Macy and while there were references to what has gone before, you could definitely read this as a standalone. I was gripped from the start and couldn't work out who the murderer was. There were several subplots within the main plot and that helped drive the tension and mystery. Another great from Mary Burton and I can't wait to see more of Macy!

Mary Burton writes the some of the most evil villains in the Thriller/Romance genre. The way she is able to articulate that evil is quite scary. The relationship between Macy Crow and Sheriff Mike Nevada picks up again after a lull and the pacing of that was well written considering how much both characters had experienced in the meantime. I really like how Mike believes in Macy’s abilities even though she is struggling back from a near fatal hit and run. This was a cold case mystery and the amount of investigating that goes into those type of cases is daunting and could be boring but not in this case. Burton engages the reader and I for one want to read more Macy Crow/Mike Nevada books.

Hide and Seek is the first book in the new series titled Criminal Profiler by Mary Burton. Hide and Seek is also the first book I have read by Mary Burton. I am speechless because boy have I been missing out on a really great writer! (I am of course presuming Hide and Seek is not an anomaly). I started reading the book, hoping that I would like her style, etc. and before you know it…I was hooked!
Hide and Seek begins with a prologue set in the past, where the reader gets a glimpse of the murderer and how he operates. Certainly set the tone for me! Then as the story starts out we jump back to the present, where at the site of a barn demolition the body of Tobi Turner is discovered. Tobi went missing nearly 15 years ago. And so the story begins.
We are introduced to Mike Nevada (the newly elected county sheriff). He had wanted to slow down, which is why he left his FBI job (a Quantico-based profiling team member). As a result of the discovery of Tobi Turner after all these years, Mike begins the investigation and requests assistance from the FBI (specifically a prior work colleague). Who turns up? Macy Crow, a former colleague and Mike’s onetime lover. There history is complicated. The journey to learn the intricacies of their relationship is worth the effort.
I liked the way the author introduced, in separate chapters, the development of the killer. He evolved from the early days of assaulting his victims. But as the rush he got from the act of assaulting his victims lessened, he upped his game to the point where he was killing his victims.
As Mike and Macy work through the clues available surrounding Tobi’s death, the plot thickens (as it usually does, of course). A rash of assaults prior to Tobi’s disappearance as well as unsolved murders after her disappearance quickly become all part of one big investigation. As the case evolves to include different locations and time periods, the past becomes the present when a new victim is discovered. With this discovery, it seems that the killer is now active again and VERY close. I was entrenched, entranced and engaged as the story became more intense and immediate. I just could not put the book down, even for sleep! So much so that for the better part of a couple of days, I devoured this title.
I must say that the path to figuring out who the murderer was (and is) well hidden in the story so that I was surprised when his identity was revealed.
And lest anyone is wondering, there is romance. I like the way that Mike and Macy get to reconnect. Glad to see Macy overcome her shyness about her body after the accident and glad that Mike is such an accepting and persistent guy.
I can’t wait to see if Macy passed her initial case test and is accepted into this elite criminal profiler team with the FBI. Or what will happen with Mike and Macy?
I am ready to continue my journey with the writings of Mary Burton. I can hardly wait for the next installment of the Criminal Profiler series. In the meantime … which title of Ms. Burton’s should I begin with?
