Sorry this book was not for me. I am not saying its badly written because that is not the case, However I just couldn't get into it at all. It just didn't flow for me. I would definitely give another book a go by the same author.

This was the third book in the series, and I absolutely loved all them. I will read more in future. Recommended.

Found it tough getting to grips with the characters in this one. Read until the end but had to persevere to do so. Not for me unfortunately

I found this book via Netgalley and thought that I would give it a go!

I hadn't read any books by Candice Fox but I found that the authors writing style was one that eased you quite easily into the book. This is the third book in the series it is the sort of book that you can get engrossed into and find yourself not wanting to put it down. The characters in the novel are very well described and makes the novel have more depth too it and helps to ingrain the characters and the story into your mind even when you are away from it.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries/thrillers/murders type stories, and I will definitely be reading more books by Candice Fox

At a hotel, boys sleep in a room while their parents are having dinner downstairs. One goes missing. What happened and why? This is every parent's worst nightmare and the hunt is on......

The title had me requesting this and I was overjoyed when I was approved for it. I have never come across Candace Fox, and the cover was creepy. I was rooting for the broken family and wanted them back together. My heart was beating fast all the way through. This is a twisty rollercoaster!

Thanks to Candice Fox and publisher for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

5 stars

Unfortunately I didn’t love this one as much as I was hoping to. I liked the idea behind it and the storyline, but it fell flat for me. I can see why some people love this one, but it just wasn’t for me.

Candice Fox writes a cracking thriller. Thrillers have in recent years almost become what Mills and Boon may have been a couple of decades ago – supermarket books, often found on your granny’s shelf, of little substance and often not particularly thrilling (apparently not a requirement any longer). Candice Fox’s Crimson Lake series are a genuine ‘shot in the arm’ for the genre.

Firstly, and unusually, being set in small town Australia with two main characters with very troubling backgrounds, rather than troubled, as is the norm. They are not necessarily the most obviously likeable or empathetic characters but as the reader, you end up really rooting for these unlikely heroes through the injustices that seem to rain down on them as a matter of course.
But beyond the characters and backstory, this novel is a tightly plotted, well-paced and well-constructed modern thriller with the right number of faints and red herrings to keep us engaged and guessing right up to the edge-of-your-seat climax. It is also (and quite necessarily) laugh out loud funny throughout.
But it is the unflinching approach to some fairly serious topics which form the backbone to the series and which would be easier left unsaid that makes these books particularly interesting and a cut above the ‘supermarket’ crowd. Bring on the next one.

Unfortunately the digital download of this never worked so I have no way of reviewing this and can't remove it any other way then posting this.

This is the first book I have read by this author (I guessed there was a back story but the book read well on its own) the characters are well put together and so not your average protagonists! The story drew me in from the start and was well paced with good dialogue and having the Australian setting was a pleasant change too. Lots of twists and turns and plenty to keep the interest going along the way.

I've not read anything by Candice Fox before, and I really enjoyed this. I read it in a day and will now seek out other books by this author.

Sorry for late review - just catching up after a busy 12 months. Loved this book a lot - my first book by this author but was impressed - a great story with great characters and really well written. Will definitely read more by this author and thank you for the read. Much appreciated.

I haven’t read the other books in the series but the premise didn’t suggest I would really have to. A terrifying thing to happen to any parent, with links to real life crimes that have taken place. Very thrilling, but a slight let down towards the end, it felt slightly rushed!!

I found it to be a little disappointing I'm afraid. Predictable and overly sold the description over the actual storyline.

Full of twists and an intriguing read, slowed a little in the middle and I wondered whether to carry on reading. I did and am glad I did as wanted to see what happened. Generally a decent read.

This is the third in a series and unfortunately I could not get into the story or the characters despite it promising to be an exciting thriller.

Another well crafted plot, the third in this series. Ted Conkaffey and Amanda Pharrell are called in to investigate the disappearance of an 8 year old boy by his mother. As usual their inclusion is resented and blocked as much as possible by members of the police force. Both Ted and Amanda are still dealing with their demons from their past but trying to move on. They are fascinating characters and Amanda brings a great deal of humour to a dramatic situation. Well-paced and surprising twists and turns.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Candice Fox/Random House UK for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.
