The Medici, Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Cleopatra, Marie Antoinette, Mozart, Ned Kelly, Bronte, Nelson Mandela, and many others important public characters of our recent and more remote history won't have anymore any secrets for you! and your children thanks to this new children's book published by Quarto: The Famous Family Trees by Kari Hauge.
Beautiful illustrations, each character receives a good introduction for then, proceeding with his/her family tree, for an adventure in the past, and sometimes present of families who, for a reason or another, made the history of this world.

I am more than sure that your children will find this book captivating and you, adults, interesting and plenty of curiosities.
Imagine of starting a conversation with your kids about the importance of some of these characters, like Nelson Mandela and his role in this world and the apartheid in South Africa; or also Marie Antoinette and what it meant marrying a man without love, living in a fake world where reality was not the one of the poor people of Paris and the reasons why someone decided of cutting her head at some point. Permit to your kids of discovering the geniality of Mozart and the talent of Bronte, maybe listening some of his music or reading some bits of their writings. A good book of art, with this one will explain the magic of Florence during the Renaissance and the visionary vision of a family, The Medici, and in particular of Lorenzo.

Highly recommended.

I thank NetGalley and Quarto for this eBook.

What a fascinating little book!! There is a lot of good information packed in these pages along with whimsical illustrations that make it a joy to read. There is quite a variety of people who are featured - an unexpected mix. There are well-known figures like the Brontes, Shakespeare, Henry Ford, and J.F. Kennedy as well as people like Annie Oakley and Laura Ingalls Wilder.. Quite an eclectic mix! One of the most interesting to me was someone I'd never heard of - Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer! There is a good assortment of world leaders, people in literature, dance, and music. Both men and women are fairly equally represented.

This would be a great gift for someone of any age.

This book is beautifully illustrated. The creator tries their hardest to simplify some teh most confusing parts of a legacy. My favorite ones were the larger family dynasties and seeing it drawn out. But most of the individuals didn't appeal to me. I don't care to know the family of Shakespeare but to understand Catherine's the Great's lineage leans more to other historical events and reach and was educational. The family trees are from across the world and didn't just focus on one region giving a wonderful worldview.
This is a lovely book for all your scholarly friends.

This book actually packs quite a lot of information in. Featuring some of history’s most famous people, readers will learn interesting facts about each one, as well as learning – as the title promises – about their family trees.
I thought the mix of people was well chosen, covering men and women from varying countries and time periods.
I also think that the book will work for readers of varying ages. It’s the sort of book different children will take different things away from.
Overall, this was a pleasant surprise.
